94 - TOTS
5.0
Nils Petersen Honest Review
By BHSGaming, 23-05-2018

Oh the joy of these Guaranteed TOTS Packs, the hype of who your new club talisman to carry your team to victory could be. You have a peek on Social Media to see who people are getting, Lewandowski, Reus Goretzka. And you believe you can pull one of these greats. Fingers crossed you open the pack, Pavlenka, Sane, Gregoritsch. We've all been there and the reason why you're reading this review is because you got Petersen.

Now onto the review,

When pulling this card I was distraught, however looking closer at the card. He actually has a brilliant card. I used this card in 9 Games as a Substitute boasting 22 Goals and 3 Assists. I used him in Division 1 and the Daily Knockout Tournament for Kevin Volland.

PACE - 82 Pace for this card isn't too bad however thanks to the Catalyst Chemistry Style I applied to this card, his Pace got boosted to 93 which is more than enough. In game this card felt very fast for a player of his caliber. Don't get me wrong this is not the card that will bombing down the wing or on a counter against some of the elite defenders you will regularly see such as Ferdinand, Desailly, Ramos, etc. However, this card is quite good at running at the defenders with perhaps a fake shot and is surprisingly agile as his Agility is 87.

- For the card this is and what I expected, this card is very fast for a Target Man however he is no Mo Salah.

SHOOTING - This being where the real fun begins, 95 Shooting. His shooting is incredible. I tend to exploit the Low Driven Shot as one should, and he performs these and most other shots excellently. His Shot Power is crazy. I remember scoring a shot where Petersen slid and shot and still had incredible speed as if he had taken a David Luiz run-up. However, with 97 Shot Power, this should be no surprise. His finishing is his best stat in my opinion. He either scores goals that are completely unreachable or so arrogantly close to the keeper that it will still go in. Now whilst, looking at this card you will look at the 77 Long Shots and be let down. However, although his long shots aren't his best feature, they are definitely very good. I believe the Shot Power is the reason behind this, I did score a few long shots I was seriously impressed by. Don't rule them out !

- The card's Shooting is easily it's best stat and there is really no need to apply a Chem Style that will boost it.

PASSING - 79 Passing isn't great but i'll tell you what... Yeah, it's bang average. I have no good or bad words to say about his passing. His short passes always went where they were supposed to. No issues there. However, I did apply a Catalyst as mentioned beforehand boosting it to 89 so that may be the reason.

DRIBBLING - His Dribbling stat at 90 does what it says on the tin. There were no feelings of dreaded clunkiness which is normally a common downfall when using tall Target Men however this card was excellent as didn't experience any issues. Don't get me wrong, he won't be weaving in and out of their entire team, especially with them 2 Star Skills, but I never complained once. The only issue with his Dribbling i experienced was his first touch, sometimes when passing the ball straight to his feet, he would take awful touches, and I mean the worst I've experienced. But as of recent, it hasn't occurred.

- Now his Dribbling could be improved with a Chem Style, it depends on your style of play. Perhaps an Engine would be a good idea.

Defending - I cannot comment on Petersen's defending, he did make a few tackles but this is slightly irrelevant. Although, his Heading Accuracy being 99 was very good. I say this as I have experienced cards with terrible headers despite 99 Heading Accuracy. I believe this is a stat that EA are quick to boost to prove a card's high rating.

- As long as you're playing this guy ST which you should, there is no need to pay attention to this stat.

Physicality - With 87 Physical Stats, this guy can hold his own. He wasn't regularly pushed off the ball, he was actually one of the strongest cards I've used. He is very persistent with his battling for the ball which makes no sense to me due to his 74 Aggression. He was very strong but it doesn't rule him out from being shifted by others such as Godin, Pique TOTS. Furthermore, his Strength helps him battle in the air which is always a positive for crossing.

- His Physicality could be improved however it's not so much needed as other stats. Perhaps a three-way Chem Style would be good, such as a Hawk.

Weak Foot - Coming from a player who loves 5 stars for this stat, he certainly is both-footed. 5 Star Weak Foot is Excellent !

Skills - Now this is the only true downside to the card, 2 Star Skills really doesn't help this card. Would love to be able to do a variation of the Heel-to-Heel flick to break through the defence however for the price you cannot complain.

Overall Summary: This card is excellent, definitely worth the 80k he is going for. His is similar to Harry Kane TOTY which is the best way to describe him. He isn't a player you will be lumping balls in the air to. The best way to use this card is along side another striker, preferably faster than himself. I used TOTS Son, TOTS Volland and TOTS Iago Aspas. He did excellently with all, the only reason I did not start him was for Chemistry Reasons. Would have happily started him over 93 Salah.

I believe this Card is best suited to a Catalyst Chem Style but feel free to experiment and let me know he is. Enjoy using this brilliant card and best of the luck with the rest of your Guaranteed TOTS Packs !

Better Than Expected

I am a huge Dortmund fan, so when TOTS Bundesliga came out I was ecstatic. Today I opened the TOTS guarantee pack and before I thought, "okay the only players I don't want are Peterson, the goalkeepers (cause Fahrman is a beast), and anyone I can already afford (under 100K). Well, I saw the German flag, freaked out cause I thought it was Marco Reus, then I saw the ST position so I was expecting Gnabry which would be cool as well, and the I saw 94 and though, "oh kill me now". I mean, 2 star Skill Moves, low pace, and not even great passing... what is there to want. But I decided to use him in my team, and I was still very upset when the match started. His first game was fantastic. He scored a hatrick and the keeper was doing an amazing job to keep him from scoring more. I was still pretty pissed that I got him and thought it was just the opponent playing terrible defense. The next game he got two goals. So now I'm thinking either he's had a few really lucky games or he's actually very good. After 7 games he's score 11 goals and had 4 assists, which is nowhere near bad, especially considering his price tag. I am now going to replace him for Divok Origi and he's linking well with Batshuayi. His card has a unique feel to it. I think you need to use it in a two striker formation, because he creates amazing chances, but only when you don't try to force him through. He is mostly clinical and his physicality and passing are solid on a Catalyst chem style, but I think what really separates him is his positioning. Also, he is only really great in transition, because he has such crappy skill moves. He doesn't feel like an amazing card, but he is. I guess he's kinda similar to Muller. I would still prefer to have packed someone else, because the TOTS is just unbelievable and I can't trade him, but I mean, if I were to have, like, 150K to spend on a player, I would spend it on him and keep 60K for something else. I'm giving him a 8/10

Poor Mans Kane
By Conker2005, 20-05-2018

I bought him for 125k and what a player.

He has similiar stats to Kane.

Excellent Heading,finishing (composure 99, Finishing 99 Shot Power 99 attacking Position 99).

Has also 5* weak foot and can shoot anything in the net within the box right foot left foot it doesnt matter.

His passing isnt brilliant or his pace but with Cat Chem 93 Pace and 87 passing.

Used with a fast striker absolutely lethal in the box and great for holding up paly and well as i said a POOR MANS Kane.

If u need a cheap strong striker hes the man.

Id say bargin of FIFA 18 and can really recommend him

Played him in 15 games (Div 3 and WC/Legendary Battles) scored 10 including a left footer side kickleft side kick and will keep using him.

Can really only be bettered by the top strikers ala Lewandowski or Suarez yes hes THAT good

Only weakness is his 2 star skills and for some his pace but hes quicker than 93 POTM Kane ;)

Deadly in the box

Heading (better than Kane and Suarez!)

Strength

99 Composure, 99 Finishing, 99 Positioning 99 Heading accuracy!

5 Star Weak Foot

Price (90k)

only 84 stamina (can be a problem in extra Time)

2 star Skills (for what he does best not really that bad)

Defending but a striker doesnt need to defend!

I've been using this player ever since he was released alongside Ronaldinho and either Crespo or Uth as my CAM in a 41212(2). Mind you I have not used him in a lone striker position, and I do not intend to do so in the future. This player needs to be surrounded by fast, agile players who can run past defenders and deliver accurate passes to this striker. That's the word that really suits him the most - striker. His only purpose on the pitch is to score goals, not to do fancy moves or deliver Bergkamp-like passes. Despite his 87 agility, he does turn like a truck sometimes, although I do wish to add that even this late into the game, he IS agile enough to compete against top-tier defenders. TOTS Petersen trying to get past icon and TOTS defenders now, is like trying to get past cheap-o defenders with Andy Carroll back when the game was first released.

In front of goal, Petersen does not disappoint. He definitely manages to stand out from the bunch even alongside 94 Ronaldinho and 90 Crespo, almost never missing a low driven shot. With him, you're getting exactly what you expect: 99 Positioning, 99 Finishing as well as 99 Composure, and it sure feels like that. Get this man in a good shooting positioning and you will score 9 times out of 10. Using this card to its best abilities takes some getting used to, especially if you are used to playing with strikers that are very fast and agile, but it's a welcomed change of pace, at least in my opinion. By the way, I have only used him in Fut Champions, so I wasn't messing around using him against the AI or on Online Seasons. So, that being said: for the price he is probably one of the better cards you can get at the striker position, but he won't be a game changer unless you're upgrading from a Petersen-type striker with worse stats. But since his price is so low for what Petersen is, do not hesitate to try him out and see if you like him. Oh, and his short passing is alright too... At least it's much better than Crespo's. I remember using 91 Van Basten a few months ago when he was close to a million coins, and Petersen indeed feels very similar to what Van Basten felt like back then.

Shooting

Decent strength (it says 93 but it's kinda meh sometimes)

Value for money

Heavy on the ball

Low curve

Not the fastest
