UCL Gimenez
UCL Gimenez has provided a solid "rock" in my defensive line. Through experimenting with formations, Gimenez is most effective in a 5-at-the-back formation, due to his medium pace combined with low balance and agility. Because of this in a 4-at-the-back formation you may find that Gimenez struggles to defend through-balls and over-the-top through passes. To make up for his lack of agility and acceleration, I recommend the 5-back formation, which allows for wing backs to cover Gimenez.
Gimenez is of high quality in my side, after using Centre-backs such as Van Dijk, Ramos, Sanchez (UCL LIVE), Bailly (In-Form) etc, I have come to the conclusion that Gimenez is of higher quality.
As said above, this is only in my opinion, certainly other people will find Ramos to be much better, or Van Dijk to be a much more solid option for headers. However for me, UCL Gimenez out-classes the like of the mentions Centre-backs. In my squad, UCL Gimenez plays at Right-centre-back in the 5-3-2 formation, accompanied by Valencia (In-Form) at Left-wing-back, Godin (Gold) at Left-centre-back Alonso (Europe League Live) in the Central Centre-back posiotion, and Juan Fran (Flashback) at Right-wing-back. I apply the Shadow chemistry style to Gimenez to boost his acceleration, sprint speed and interceptions higher than an anchor chemistry style would, to help the recover on through passes and increase the likely-hood of him stopping the through pass from creating a chance at the beginning.
Gold Godin
Gold Godin provides the perfect partnership for UCL Gimenez in defense. Whilst neither have exception sprint speed, they make up for it with their extremely good defensive stats across the board. Godin on anchor gives 99 in all defensive stats other than a 93 in interceptions, has 99 jumping, standing 6'2" with 85 reactions. This more than covers for UCL Gimenez if he misses an interception or header in defense.
Partnership
As a partnership, there is no better defensive perfect-link in Fifa 19. They cover for each others mistake and make for an extremely difficult time for any opponent.
-Interceptions
-Tackling
-Recovery
-Clearance
-Heading
-Passing (despite low stats in short and long passing)
-Height (combined with high jumping stats makes winning defensive headers easy)
-Pace (However, as of 3/12/18, pace is not as meaningful as it should be so Gimenez can usually keep up with most attackers.)
-Balance
-Agility
-Stamina (however playing 5-at-the-back defense is less reliant on 1 player, so stamina feels as if it lasts much longer tha when playing 4-at-the-back.)
