Player Review
90 - Icon
On a very quick note, I originally got Hagi from the SBC, but I found him to be so disappointing that I decided I couldn't wait for the next Icon SBC. I would advise you to steer clear of Hagi.
First of all, it's worth noting I've only used Vieri for 5 games. But let me tell you, those 5 games were my final 5 FUT Champions games, and we all know how hard they can be. In those 5 games, Vieri amassed 15, yes 15, GOALS. He also notched 4 assists, which is satisfactory, but believe me when I say that his primary function is rustling the net. In these games I used him in a mix of 4-2-3-1 and 4-1-2-1-2, as the ST in the 4-2-3-1 and an LS in a 4-1-2-1-2 to utilise his 'Finesse Shot' trait.
In the air, the only more dominant player I can think of is Cristiano Ronaldo, who happens to be 2.5mil. For the price of 750k, you can bag yourself the most lethal aerial weapon on Fifa 19. But if your play style is more about quick passing and through balls, Vieri can do that too. Let me be honest when I say his long passing and vision is average, but for those short one-two's his 85 short passing makes him more than capable.
Generally, he is an incredibly capable player, and if you play to his strengths you too will reap the rewards that this monster brings so often to the table. I'm typically a Gold 1 (22 wins - feels bad) calibre player, and I have a very good team to support Vieri. However, even amongst Neymar and Hazard POTM he is the player I will always give a chance to if I am given the option. I am currently using him with the Hawk chemistry style, because I do not believe that A) he needs an agility and balance boost, and B) that any them style would make a significant difference to this.
If you're looking to do future Icon SBC's and want someone to play with in the meantime, I urge you to consider Vieri. I was very skeptical myself, and his face card stats are incredibly deceptive. Look in closer detail and you will see that he has some ridiculous stats.
Overall I would recommend playing him in a two-striker formation alongside a nimble forward, but he was also exceptional in the 4-2-3-1.
- Pace 9/10 - With Hawk he goes to 89/88, which to be honest is more than good enough for a big man. If he gets in behind, chances are he'll be quick enough to score. If you like Mbappe, Vieri will obviously not have the same play style.
- Shooting- 94 positioning, 94 finishing, 91 shot power. Those stats speak for themselves, and my goodness are they reflected in game. Vieri kicks the ball so hard I'm surprised he doesn't puncture it. Assuming you don't hit a red timed finish, everything with this man is going in the back of the net. First minute, last minute, header, volley, arse - it's all going in the net. If he misses, I'll tell you now, it was user error.
- Finesse Shot Trait - All of the best players this year have this trait. Vieri is no different, and with this trait he is able to stick it top bins most times.
- Weak foot - Vieri has a 4* weak foot. This is incredibly useful in most game situations. Do not hesitate to shoot on his right.
- Strength - This man is like a bull. Whilst his balance neglects this a little, with a hawk he does to 94 strength with aggression in the 80's. In a shoulder-to-shoulder battle, you will enjoy watching many a defender rolling over on his arse as Vieri charges through on his next victim.
- Heading/Jumping - Goal kicks, corner kicks or crosses it does not matter. Vieri will win everything. His strength/height/jumping combo makes him an absolute unit, and unless your opponent has a running start with a Ramos lets say, no-one is out-jumping him. In terms of Heading Accuracy (93), it's a goal. Every. Single. Time.
- Dribbling (First touch/Reactions/Composure) - Everything you'd want from a forward. Good reactions, a superb first touch and composure that means he will stay cool even when you don't.
- Stamina - Assuming you don't use Constant Pressure, Vieri should be lasting you the full 90 minutes, and perhaps even 120.
- Short Passing - 85 short passing means he will rarely misplace a pass at short range.
- Agility - Yes, it's low. Yes it's VERY low. Should you be concerned? Absolutely not, You can just as easily turn an opponent with Vieri as Mbappe if you know how too. Utilise the shielding mechanic to your advantage and you will not notice this agility as much.
- Balance - Probably my main gripe with an otherwise superb card. Occasionally he can be knocked off balance by a defender and miss as a result. Also if you're using the bumper dribbling I recommend you time your shot between taps, as otherwise he will not be in an optimal position to strike the ball. If you can manage this main issue, I don't see why you wouldn't enjoy this card.
- Skill moves - Only 3*, and I think 4* would be a nice added bonus. However, at times I think it improves my game using a less-able skiller, as I am more focused on the basics and don't attempt things I cannot pull off.
- Defending - He's a striker, what do you expect? Mind you, I reckon Nepenthez would still put him CDM. (Love you Neppo)
