95 - TOTS
Full disclosure, I'm a huge Germany fan boy and a fan of the Bundesliga, so I've had my eye on Havertz for a while. I used his FFS card for a couple of months and it was dynamite. So I was stoked when I saw that his TOTS card looked incredible. The 2 Mil price tag made me think it was never going to happen, but I lucked into the card in the Guaranteed TOTS Ultimate SBC.
He replaced CR7's gold card (after 1300 Matches) up top, and the squad attached is the main in game formation I used, but I also ran him as the solo striker in a 4-2-3-1 (with Di Maria at central CAM) depending on the opponent and the match. I've tried a few other cards to replace CR7, but found nothing that offered the complete package (the height, the agility, the skill moves, the weak foot, the strength and of course the clinical finishing) - Until now. Havertz slots in as a like for like with CR7 up top (or I assume as a CAM if you abuse the crossing mechanics and want him back post) and offers all kinds of options making it difficult for your opponent. I hit him with a Marksman Chem Style to boost his strength and max out his shooting stats and put his in games to 98 at Striker.
I played a few squad battles with him while I was finishing some weekly objectives, but tested him out in Rivals primarily. In the first match he netted two, one from a driven shot outside of the box with his "weak foot" and the other from a near post header on a corner. He has the full skill set: the finesse shot trait (these are the only guys that the timed finesse shots form outside the box still work for even after all the patches), the 4* Skills, no weak foot, strength and agility, jumping and heading (he's 6'2" with 99 jumping and 97 heading accuracy). This card is overpowered for his 95 OVR rating, but no complaints here.
Tall players often feel clunky during their skills moves and turning in tight 1 v 1 dribbling with a defender, but Kai beats the stereotype and wheels through a crowd smoothly. His pace helps him find an extra step and his size and strength means he can shield off even a god level defender long enough to turn and rocket a shot on net. The most impressive goals he's netted me so far have started with receiving the ball with his back to the net and then staking a step and a turn and firing them home (the 5* WF means you can trick players who use the keeper movement by turning to his weak side).
His heading has been incredible off corners (it's been months since I've felt like a threat on direct near or far post corners), but I don't spam crosses and abuse the meta regularly with the downward headers and scoop crosses to have tested that part of his game.
Overall he blows me away and gave me the confidence to finally sell my CR7 (who was the only tradable card on my active roster). A full package end game ST/CAM.
- 4* SM 5*WF - IS silky on the ball and finishes equally well on both feet
- Height - He's 6'2" with 99 Jumping to win any aerial battle
- Pace - He glides at high speed and finds an extra step out of nowhere
- Finishing - Finesse, driven, timed, long, you name it, he scores it
- Passing
- Price - he's come down to 1.5M coins - which I think is reasonable for this card based on the comparable players, but may be too steep for many players.
- Linkability - He offers decent links with Bundesliga players, but may need icons to fit him into a hybrid.
- Nothing else.
