Why Fahrmann is THAT Good In Fifa 19
By Air Goodman, 13-10-2018

Fahrmann has had people scratching their heads in disbelief since last years edition of FIFA. How can a 1000 coin GK seem to perform as well as the elite keepers in the game? Many, including myself, had used both Fahrmann and Neuer last year and found that the difference was minimal even though the price was significantly higher for the latter.

When you look at his base card you'll notice right away that he's got very good reflexes at 87 and it's accompanied by solid Positioning (82), Handling (81), and Diving (83). If you look around at GK's who are rated the same or even higher you'll start to notice that Fahrmann's overall card rating of 83 is just plain meaningless in terms of his value in goal. I've chosen to compare him to some popular GK's to bring his value to light.

  • Fahrmann has virtually the exact same stats as both Leno and Alisson. (He actually has better reflexes than Leno and better Diving than Leno).
  • Better handling, Positioning, and Reflexes than Kepa
  • Same Reflex save rating as Ederson. (One of the best reflex rated keepers in FUT 19)

Having said that, we still haven't discussed the real reason that Fahrmann can often seem even better than the other players I've just mentioned. HE IS 6'6.

This may seem pretty insignificant but for a GK it makes a huge difference. Add a basic GK Chemistry card to him and you're suddenly facing a behemoth in goal with almost maxed out reflexes? Forget about it. When that size is combined with the reflexes it allows him to pull off some of the most ridiculous saves you'll see all year. Those top corner finesse shots have to be perfectly placed in order to have a chance against Fahrmann.

So what of his con's? Again, I think we are talking about con's that don't seem to come into play that much but they're worth discussing. His kicking rating is low but I don't really think a GK's kicking rating actually comes into play THAT often. Sure, you could be one of the few who actually utilize the distribution ability of keepers like Neuer or De Gea but for the most part you won't be losing out on potential game-winning counter attack possibilities due to Fahrmann's kicking.

If there's anything that I think is somewhat problematic for the average FUT player it's that he doesn't have the Sweeper Keeper or 1 V 1 Rush traits. You CAN get around this by manually bringing the GK out yourself and it truly can be a very effective aspect of your game play.

Final Verdict: I think that Fahrmann is good enough o be your long term GK. Even for FUT Champs. Is Neuer better? Yes. The margin, however, seems to be small. Fahrmann pulls off saves that he shouldn't be able to for a player in his dirt cheap price range. Unless you're a huge Neuer fan or have tons of coins to blow then don't feel the need to buy him. Stick with the 1000 coin Schalke man!
