Busquets Review: Surprisingly Usable

I picked up Busquets as an investment, but I wanted to give him a try since some players with low pace seem to be usable this year. While the card still doesn't quite do him justice, I can say that I was pleasantly surprised with his performance as a CDM. To address the obvious, he is very slow and can be easily outpaced by quick players, but he's still very useful especially alongside another quick CDM. His tackling and interceptions are exceptional; like some other tall players, he has the ability to stick a leg out and steal the ball in crazy situations. His jumping isn't the greatest, but he still wins a fair amount of headers and he's reasonably strong. His passing and technical abilities are definitely good enough for a CDM, but probably not good enough for a CM. He is capable of scoring, but I wouldn't make a habit of shooting with him. Surprisingly, he's pretty smooth on the ball for someone his size, but again, you probably don't want him to be taking players on. Ideally, you want him to sit in front of your back line, win possession, and play the ball to a more creative midfielder or attacker.
