Player Review
92 - TOTS
Wow, wow, wow - what can you say about a card like this? As a Leeds fan who already had 600 games with the 84 version of this Phillips, I'd hoped EA would make his TOTS good enough to use for the rest of the year - and boy, did they deliver. When the EFL TOTS came out I couldn't believe how OP they'd made this card, but as I was saving my packs for EPL TOTS, I had to wait a week before I could bring him into the team.
Let me say, it was well and truly worth the wait. Alongside Moments Goretzka in a 5212, he bullied everyone around him - I had Gullit and Vieria last year and he compared to them, he's that damn good. At one point he even tackled two guys at once!
The biggest drawback with his 84 was his inability to get forward, but this card's boosts to shooting and dribbling well and truly fixes that. Obviously his skill moves and weak foot leave a lot to be desired, but they really are his only flaws.
I know the price tag is huge, but the perfect link to Ben White (who I will also write a review on and who is also fantastic) makes it pretty easy to fit him into your team - and both of them are absolutely outstanding. I started my weekend league at 21-3 with these two absolute beasts being among my best players (unfortunately ran into a guy who went 30-0 which derailed my dreams of Elite 1 after that, haha).
So yes, get this card if you can. Regardless of what formation you play he can be a bruising CDM, or a box-to-box CM. Either way, he's magic, you know...
