Player Review
92 - Player Moments SBC
Let's start with the name - Ter Stegen. He was my brick wall. After my move to Prem in January, I've been on the hunt for his successor. Gold De Gea filled that role nicely for quite awhile until last month. The upgrades to shooting left him helpless. He was stiff and would not cut off near post properly.
It got bad enough, I went and got Yashin 94 for 450k. Badass in goal, but expensive. Next week I landed Lloris IF in an upgrade pack and he was a pleasant surprise so cut Yashin.
You could imagine the excitement when I saw this card! My initial Prem savior with an upgrade to max out his positioning. Aka cover that near corner! I beat everyone to it, so got a great price and even made some back buying up his gold cards to resell. It wasn't more than 10 minutes into the first match that I knew it was a poor investment. He was the same De Gea. Stiff as a board and slow to react near post. My only theory is his optimal positioning in-game is simply off from what he can cover nearside. Like an algorithm miscalculation.
I played my weekend with him, but got replaced by TOTS Alisson. He is finally the Goalie that brings back memories of Neuer from FIFA 17 or 18 where he'd string together crazy saves. (put him on Cat chem and thank me later)
- Diving on Distance shots
- Saves with Feet trait is nice, but Alisson TOTS does same without the trait. He lays out his whole damn body!)
- Long Throw is amazing to start runs forward. Put Adama on the wing and you've got yourself a pairing
- Near Post!! He will not cover the angle even as the opponent shifts to angle it near post. He has a limit how far he will go, and is not fast enough to cover it manually
- Stiff and Slow. Doesn't have the loose look to him like a Yashin, Ter Stegen, or TOTS Alison. Even Lloris if shows signs of it.
- Still punches excessively instead of catching. TOTS Alison catches everything.
I think you can tell I'm frustrated I got this card instead of waiting for Alison, who came in so much cheaper than expected.
