Raul Gonzalez Blanco - REAL, Real madrid Legend
By Nielshendriks28, 08-01-2020

Was looking for a left footed icon striker with at least 4* WF and 4* skills for my squad.

as an exception to stated above I also considered Prime Stoichkov. However the 4* WF and his price convinced me to favor Raul over Stoichkov, furthermore I've seen Raul play (being 33yo).

And always have been a fan of his neat image.

Due to panic sales in regards to TOTY, I was able to snipe him at a good price.

Currently using him with a Hawk chem style, the way I bought him, considering giving him a engine or hunter.

He's been a great presence in my squads so far. Scoring nearly every opportunity; finesse shots, normal shots, low driven and even headers.

His runs are insane, and his passing has been pinpoint. Everythings special you may expect of an icon striker.

Shooting 10/10: everything on his left goes in. His finesse shot trait and chip shot trait combined with his dribbling and decent strengh make his a jack of all traits. 5* WF would have been better but than his price would be around the 2,2 mill.

Dribbling 9/10:, his agility is very good, but not perfect. Together with his endgame composure and balance he feels as smooth as the gameplay lets him.

Passing 10/10: eventhough is card stat indicates only a 82 stat, his vision of 94 and short passing makes it perfect for the striker.

Physical: 8/10: the main reason I kept the hawk style on there is his strenght and agression. but due to his balance he's not pushed of the ball easily.

Overall: Complete striker with a everything you expect from an prime Icon.

Curve and strengh could be a bit higher.

the Legend
By SIrBoban, 20-01-2020

I was looking for a new striker to fit my first squad and thought I give this man a chance during the WL.

Well, where to start? I play him as right striker in a 4-1-2-1-2 in first half and if this is not as successful as I want it to be I usually switch to 4-2-3-1 in second half playing him up front.

As I was lucky enough to pack TOTY De Bruyne (I will never complain about my pack luck again) and did SBC Villa back in the days, I have a very decent front three to shine in every single game.

Raul is a clinical striker, no doubt about that. I would highly recommend him as he improves most of all squad I've seen in Fifa 20 so far. Speed and shooting is superb (Hunter chem) and his dribbling let you pass every defender you come up against. Last weekend he scored 16 Goals in 21 Games (had no time to play all 30 games) and assisted 17. A huge impact as you can see.

But there's his price... Don't get me wrong, you receive a top striker for your coins but I just can't give him a 5 star rating there bc Villa was like 200-250k and is nearly as good as this guy is.

Now you could say that there's no chance to do the Villa SBC at this time but give EA some time to re-release his SBC (and maybe for 100k or whatever)....

Conclusion: Raul is one of the best strikers I played with (significant better than 87 Butra, but I miss his 5* WF). Next to Villa and with DeBruyne at CAM these guys are unstoppable. But for this price you maybe find an Icon (or two) that suits your playstyle or your squad a little more. Nevertheless I give this guy a 5 star overall ranking for his outstanding performance during the last games.

Speed: 10/10 Hunter chem, no explanation needed

Shooting: 9.5/10 can do everything and loves to score

Passing: 9/10 as a striker his 89 short passing is perfect for those passes in and around the box

Dribbling: 10/10 look a defender! thank you, next

Def: -/- not needed

Physicality: 8.5/10 his 88 stamina won't let you down, could be a bit stronger but just run around every defender and you won't notice

sometimes his 4* weak foot let's you down a bit (if you're used to 5* players)

Raul Blanco as a striker
By LowSkilled7, 13-04-2020

Hello , this is my first review , sorry in advince for my english . After 4 WL with Raul i want to say his pros and cons .

My main striker was Aguero 92 , but i packed Raul . Raul put him on a bench .

I use Raul as a striker in 4-2-3-1 formation , and second formation was 4-4-2 with Cunha/Fernandes as a striker . I use Raul with engine . 4* 4* on wf and sm is a good for a striker .

And lets see his pros and cons

  • Pace 8/10 : sometimes he cant run from defender , sometimes he can . For a solo striker his pace is enough
  • Shooting 10/10 : That a reason why i love this card . Amazing strikes with a left foot . A nice addition is a traits - Chip Shot and Finesse Shot
  • Dribbling 9/10 : Amazing dribbling . One of the BIGGEST plus - his agility . I dont know why , but when i use fake shot - he always run out from defenders
  • And good thing - stamina , he was never tired
  1. Price , you can buy meta forward for this price
  2. Strenght
  3. WF 4* - can bring fail

Raul Review
By Med02, 20-03-2020

Pace 7/10 – Raul is reasonably quick anyway without a chem style and the Hunter gives him a nice little boost. Once you’re in behind with him, its rare for a defender to catch him even if they’re a top tier fullback. I would say that he does lack that top tier explosiveness that my wingers (Mbappe or Vinicius) have and that limits him in how much you rely on his pace when facing up to a defender. If the defender makes a mistake and reads you wrong when running with him, he’s gone through…like I said before, no catching him.

Shooting 8/10 – Raul is a brilliant striker and I love using him. And plan on using him for a long time yet. But his shooting does have its issues. In the box I almost count it as automatic, but occasionally we all have that off game wondering why nothing is going in. Outside of the box his shots are powerful but not always super accurate to beat the keeper.

One real problem I found was I can’t rely on his finesse shots, a more straight angle and these will end up nestled in the top corner but if you try to finesse from more of an angle, he will smack it wide. I think its down to the curve he has on his card which means the shot is good, but he just doesn’t bring it round enough.

His heading is sensational, on front post corners he wins these and scores one every 3 games. Despite being a relatively small player, he contests up front with bigger defenders and if his run gives him a slight edge over the defender he will win the header. If it’s a free header in the box, it’s a goal.

Penalties are good as well, clean crisp strikes and usually goes through the keeper even if they guess right. Free kicks I didn’t use him as Ballack is on these for me. His weak foot is alright but it doesn’t feel like 4 star to me. Maybe because I focus on getting the ball to his left but his right foot lets me down a lot which is why this stat gets a lower rating.

Passing 5/10 – Raul’s short passing is tight and this is what I need him for. His short passing is good and makes it easy to link up play with him. However when I’ve tried to play longer through balls or over the top passes, he’s been less than average. The other thing I didn’t like was that his long passing isn’t as consistent as I’d want it to be, playing a ball out wide from the middle is sometimes tricky so I have to lean on my midfield trio to manage that.

Dribbling 8/10 – His overall game in this department is solid, tight dribbling and quick changes of direction mean its easy for me to wiggle in and out of tight spaces and get into goal scoring opportunities. If you love last minute turns and finishes in the box, this guy is your man. Sometimes he has that odd blip where his touch just goes crazy and you wonder why he’s lost the ball. But overall he’s great at holding the ball and creating danger around the box.

Defending 7/10 – Now this might surprise a lot of people, I don’t put any defensive instructions on my striker and since heading is here I thought it would help to add this in here as well. Like I said before, his heading is good and accurate which means even on the defensive side of this (chasing a ball from the keeper) he can win the ball and get a quick counter attack going.

For a striker that has no defensive instructions on him, he has this amazing habit of pressing the defenders but it doesn’t feel like a medium defensive work rate, it feels like a high one. On two occasions I’ve been pressing with another player towards where a pass will be going only to see my player selector switch because Raul decided to win the ball back by himself.

When he’s dribbling and loses the ball, he’s great at winning it back immediately as well.

Physical 7/10 – Raul has jumping in spades which is what helps him win so many headers and compete with the biggest of players. Its lucky he has a high stamina value because if he didn’t (with the way he runs around the pitch) he would be absolutely ruined by the end of the game. Its just enough to get away with but note if you play a high pressure game, you’ll notice a big difference in his play style as he becomes fatigued.

His strength stat feels slightly unfair, don’t get me wrong shoulder to shoulder he gets bullied a lot. But when he gets slightly ahead of an opponent he’s strong enough to keep them off and get a reasonable finish off. For me that was enough as I have a bunch of big boys in midfield and a slight attack to allow for power and speed in those two areas of the midfield.

Lastly his aggression does contribute towards him getting bullied a little and maybe when he goes to tackle people back instantly he doesn’t always win the ball because of this. But this also feels higher than the stat suggests.

On a side note, I’m not much of a skiller so his skill moves make no difference to me. But I do know having 4 star skills at least makes him very usable for a lot of people.

One thing that is outstanding about Raul is his runs in behind, even without instruction as soon as you’re attacking the opponent, Raul is looking to get in behind the CBs or create an angle to score from. Its one of the reasons that despite all his stats being good (not great) that I have kept him in the team and continued to use him.

  • Good enough pace to get clear
  • Good finisher in most situations
  • Tight short passing and link up play
  • Good dribbler
  • Strong in the air
  • Good attack positioning
  • Defends from the front
  • Lacks curve for more angled finesse shots
  • Longer passing is horrible
  • Lacks a bit in aggression to keep winning the ball back

Honest Review of Prime Raul (Underwhelming)
By Duckzworth, 11-02-2020

A brutally honest review of prime Raul, where do I begin. I had very high expectations for this card, not only because of the price but also because his stats look incredible all round. However, I found myself wanting more from him especially in the big moments of games. There is this something in FIFA I like to call “THE SHOT”. It’s those special finishing animations that a player will pull off that make you say WOW!! like when he dinks the ball over the GK’s leg save attempt without you holding the chip shot modifier. That to me is EA’s way of telling you this guy is special, and unfortunately Raul doesn’t have it. For a guy who has those shooting stats, you expect him to be clinical and although he can hit some bangers, I never felt 100% sure he was going to score the chances he got.

Don’t get me wrong, this card has plenty of upside. He has very good passing and dribbling, although not top tier. He doesn’t have breakaway speed, but he is very good with hold up play so use him as a target man to link passes instead of trying to play him through. The thing I noticed most with this card was his positioning, he just knows where to be in the attack. His off-ball movement is fantastic especially when passing around your opponent’s box. Which I why I was so disappointed with him because he would get into the best positions for shots, but time and time again would let me down, and it would often be the difference between a win and a loss in FUT champs.

All in all, I would say he’s a great card, but not incredible. He will get involved in the attack and has some very good key attributes. But when the rubber meets the road, he just isn’t that special, and for that reason I wouldn’t recommend him for 1.4mil. Do yourself a favor and save up and extra 150k to get 87 Kenny Dalglish. His 5-star weak foot outweighs the lack of stats comparatively, and King Kenny of course has… “THE SHOT”

Positioning is his best feature

Good stamina, is still going strong after the 70th minute

Passing is very good for link up play

Dribbling is responsive and feels good

Good balance on the ball, doesn't get shoved around easily

Great hold up play, perfect for a false 9 or target man

His shots get saved more than they should and he misses some sitters

Doesn't seem to bail you out when you need him to

His first touch is sometimes terrible, could just be the gameplay though
