Maybe it is just me, but when I see an opponent in the middle of Weekend League using the NIF Quincy Promes I know I am in for a walloping. Beyond the classic options; CR7, Mbappe, Neymar… I swear gold Promes has tallied the most goals against me this year. With that in mind, I simply had to get my hands on RTTF Promes for this past weekend; I figured it would be fun to benefit from his talents as opposed to being abused by them for once. Although I should say that throughout the review I started to feel bad for Promes who was ultimately stuck in Neymar’s shadow all weekend long. Much like players today not named Messi or Ronaldo, it is an uphill battle for recognition when there are others on a completely different planet than you. However, Promes did manage to hold his own throughout the weekend, producing 13 goals and 19 assists while also adding key link-up play and providing pivotal pressure on my opponents' back lines. I decided that the HAWK chemistry style would help Promes take flight and in the end was not disappointed with my decision. The excellent combination of Pace, Passing, Shooting & Dribbling made Promes a perfect candidate for the ST position in the 4-4-2 and dropping back into the CAM in my 3-4-1-2 formations. If you follow me on Twitter: @IVIaeNine you would have also seen that Promes contributed heavily to a return to Elite this weekend as well... Promes dropped the AJAX on my opponents all weekend long in the following squad:
I found Promes to be one of those cards that can be just as fantastically brilliant one game as he is pathetically frustrating the next. The problem for me was that there appeared to be no rhyme or reason to it. Normally you can blame connection and say that “this player can’t perform in sluggish gameplay.” In which case it is hard to blame the card when it is ultimately an issue with the game. However, Promes was hit or miss at random; or at least that was the case in my experience… hat tricks and multi-assist games followed by a complete disappearing act that Houdini himself would have marveled at. It eventually got to the point where I had to make some changes for my final 5 matches because I needed to trust everyone to show up in order to return to Elite. The sad part is that I really enjoyed the card throughout the weekend as a whole and there really are some amazing attributes you can pull from this card.
Main Statistic - Dribbling
Shooting Rating: 9/10
Skills: * * * * *
Obviously, the ideal FUT traits would be the coveted 5? SKILLS & 5? WEAK FOOT masterclass. Unfortunately (in my eyes) Promes then has the “if only” combination of 5? SKILLS & 4? WEAK FOOT and maybe I am alone in this thinking, but I just prefer the opposite option of 4? SKILLS & 5? WEAK FOOT. However, I should shine some light on just how good this card is on the ball and granted the skills play a huge part in this. Promes does not feel quick on a dead sprint even with his 94 ACCELERATION & 97 SPRINT SPEED… in fact, this was one of my key issues with the card overall. However, when you combine the 87 AGILITY, 80 BALANCE & 83 BALL CONTROL this card starts to feel a whole lot more dangerous. Some of the dribbles that you can pull off in tight situations at the top of the box will make even the deepest of dropback Danny’s dance… leaving opportunities to find the open option and a big contributor to Promes’ 19 assists. Obviously, if you utilize some of the exclusive 5? SKILL moves you will get even more out of the card, but either way, you will be happy with how this card reacts on the ball.
This is going to be one of those categories where I get some comments regarding confusion, I know it. But it has to be said. The shooting with this card is one of the areas that I was referencing when I said you never know what you are going to get with this card. With a 4? WEAK FOOT, 89 FINISHING, 95 SHOT POWER & OUTSIDE FOOT trait you would expect this card to be pretty clinical in front of goal… and he was… at times. It felt like some matches Promes was up there with the most clinical of players I have used, finishing off difficult chances and bagging hat tricks for fun. Followed by three matches in a row where the only threat Promes posed was to the steward standing in Row Z of the empty stadium. I can say that it is a good thing they installed the giant covers over the seats to bring the balls back down from orbit because Promes was kicking field goals when he should have been finishing off my opponents. So how do you rate his shooting then? For me, I look at an 8.5 as respecting the fact that he can certainly finish and on both feet which would normally be a 10… but the lack of consistency means a disregard of in-game statistics alone, with the lack of constant in-game performance causing a drop.
Value/Coins & Good vs. Bad
Value/Coins Rating: 5/5
Good vs Bad Rating: 5/5
250k…. It is actually crazy to search the players currently in the 250k - 300k price range. Basically a giant list of poor and seldom used ICONS… Varane, IF Valverde, OTW Havertz and RTTF Promes. None of which has 5? anything and none of which really jump out at me as being on the same level as Promes. So on that note alone, I think I find Promes in good standing to get a 5/5 for Value for Coins. However, we need to discuss the nature of the card and what could possibly happen to this card in the future. While in the long run, it would be beneficial to this card if AJAX found their way into the Europa League, where AJAX would immediately become one of the favorites. However, the lack of immediate upgrade and the time it would take to get to the levels I am talking about would leave the card drowned out by other options come Feb-Mar. The question then becomes can AJAX make it out of the group stage? And for me they are the favorites to finish second in Group D for a variety of reasons, which we can discuss in the comments or DM me on Twitter if you like to talk football. But with my own prediction in mind, I then picture this card as an 86 and I think he could remain a solid option in the future moving forward, making the card definitely worth the price tag.
When you start to break down this card you realize that it is actually a really well-rounded attacking option. The defensive side of things is a completely different story, but one I won’t be telling today. When you look at the two categories I have not really touched on in the Passing and Physical side of things you see a card that has some okay statistics, no stand-out qualities and really not any glaring weaknesses. In the end, I think that is the perfect summary of Promes as a whole… Okay, with not many stand out qualities, but no glaring weaknesses… a spot on 8.5/10 overall.
Closing Words
When you pay 250k for a card you want to see improvement on the 80k option it is replacing… and hopefully you are not expecting the results of the 500k option that you are working towards. For me, Promes is exactly what a 250k should be and delivers on that level. I do wish that it was more of a steady 8/10 performance from this card instead of the 9.5/10 on match and a 7/10 the next. It would have been easier to explain this card in the review without seeming contradictory … and it would better inform your decisions. But I guess if you look at it this way, this is a 250k card that is capable at times of performing WAY beyond that expectation, and perhaps that makes Promes worth every coin to you. While I won’t sell him to you as a game-changer that you must have, I Promes that he is an improvement on what is available around this value (I told myself I wouldn’t do that). I hope you are all safe and well. Cheers for reading.
Wow. I'm an Ajax fan, and when this card dropped, knew I had to pick him up for my weekend league. I've played 5 games with him so far in the 4-2-3-1 formation, with him playing CAM in behind the clinical Ousmane Dembele. In these 5 games, he has 8 goals and 3 assists, picking up 5 goals in a single game and 3 in the next 4. I'm in Division 1, so the competition was fierce. This Promes card, however, lives up to the hype.
Pace // BLISTERING PACE - I put a finisher on him and his 91 pace is still more than enough
Shooting // His finesse shots on either foot go top bins every time
Passing // Very good, rarely misplaces a pace
Dribbling // INSANE DRIBBLING - His 5 stars skills + a finisher make him silky smooth
Price // Very expensive, but worth it. Maybe wait a little unlike me until he drops to around 300K
I was lacking a 5* Skiller in my team, so I picked up this Promes card. I managed to get him to 7 chem in my starting eleven (soft link to Wijnaldum in 4-3-3 4). I had high expectations because he has been one of my favourite players in FIFA since his FIFA 17 TOTW. Did he live up to my expectations? The answer is definitely yes. In his first 3 appearances for my team in WL he got MOTM in every single of these games. 2 of the games were really close and he made the difference. His dribbling is on the level of the big cards like Mbappe. The ball sticks to Quincy's feet and he performs skill moves smoothly. His finishing has been fantastic as well (maybe due to the finisher chem style) and he even scored 2 headers for me. He also feels stronger than his stats suggest. The upgrade above his gold card is very noticeable in game.
To sum up, this card is just fun. He is the closest you can get to a Mbappe or Neymar and he is about a third of the price. The only downside could be the lack of strong links. However, if you can get him to 7 chem you should be fine. I hope you find a way to try this card and have fun!
Nothing else to say. Best player all round, I used Neymar with him up front and they were a dream duo. This recent weekend league I got Elite 2, with Promes scoring almost every game.
9/10 Shooting
8/10 Pace
10/10 Passing
9/10 strenth
The weak foot might get in the way once in a while.
At first I want to say that this is my first review I ever made so i hope you like it.
I used him in a 4-2-3-1 formation and there i played him cam, werner ram, saint max lam and Ben Yedder st. I have played 14 games with him in rivals. And so far I think it's a very, very good card and I think he is well worth his money because he has the chance that Ajax will continue in the Champions League. If that happens, it means the card is going to upgrade from 84 to 86. In those 13 games he has scored 15 goals and 12 assist. So his goal: game ratio runs 1: 1 which is very good for a cam.
pace 9/10:
Promes his pace stats: 89 acceleration and 92 speed. In my opinion it is enough for a cam. He sprints out most of the CB's. Suppose you play him on the flank, he is just a bit too slow I think, but if you put on a chemistry style that boosts pace like a hunter, I think he is fast enough. But I played him on cam and he had enough pace there so that's why I use him with a finisher chem style.
shooting 8/10:
With his 85 positioning, 84 finishing and 85 shot power his shooting is quite steady. With the finisher chem style he has 99 finishing. Of course that is not correct because he sometimes misses a shot but in general I think his shot is very good. He hits a lot of shots. So his shot is very good.
passing 8/10:
I played him at cam and for me his passing was just fine. With his 85 vision, 82 short pass and 84 crossing he's got plenty. The only drawback is his long passing, which is 76. So long passing is not very good. But for the short passes, Promes is your man.
defending -/10
defending is not necessary for an attacker
physicality 7/10
Promes his physicality is fine. His stamina is very good in contrast to his strength. For stamina he has a stat of 85 and strength 67 so with that stamina he can easily go through a whole match. So that's a plus. His strength is not very good. But he is fast and flexible enough to run past defenders. So it doesn't really matter.
well, that was my review about 84 rttf promes, I hope you liked it!
while I'm not the best player on FUT this year ive been looking to just buy players I enjoy I had rule breaker Douglas costa and ended up selling him to purchase this beast and I haven't looked back This weekend he was the player to show up. he is a must up front as in the box he is as dangerous as anyone.
5 star skill moves
weak foot 4 star
finishing
shot power
agility
likability but I've managed to link him in a 451 with de Jong and wijnaldum
I was looking for a player who can play as a CAM in 4-2-3-1. I bought him for 205k on my RTG, I bought him instead of IF Ben Yedder. He has the 5 Star Skills so it will be very useful for creating goal chances. I usually finish WL at Gold 2 with 1-3 matches left but I finished Elite 3 that weekend. Promes scored 35 goals and 19 assists in 32 matches. It was amazing that a player can pass through defenders like varane very easily and score the every chance he can get. I am very sure that he is glitched because when someone tackles him, the ball falles in front of him again and he finally shoots a very powerful rocket that makes the goalkeepers helpless. He is 220k rn and you can use him for a week or two without losing a bunch of money. Promes can be a amazing help for your team with a strong striker. He creates many goal chances and finishes everything. You should try this man he is amazing!
+ Dribbling, it is very similar to Hazard's. 9/10
+ Passing 8/10
+ Shooting 9/10
+ Pace 10/10
+ 5 Star Skills
+ 4 Week Foot (Feels like 5)
+ Physicality 6/10 (Sometimes he gets bullied but it is not a very huge issue)
He is very fun to use and quite overpowered. I even managed to score a bicycle kick with this legend. He is quite good at passing for a striker, which I really enjoy (I owned Werner...). The best thing about this card is his positioning, in my opinion. He is not afraid to make runs and his AI feels quite clever in general.
Pace
4* WF is decent
5* SM
Agility, balance in combination with his height
Passing is very good for a striker role
Shooting feels clinical
Feels overpowered
Might get an upgrade
Maybe strength?
His finesse shots are a bit strange (generally very low and hard)
Linking him to 10 chemistry is a challenge (with Wijnaldum, Van de Beek, De Jong for example)
I did a upgrade and packed him. Sadly, he had to be a supersub because chemistry. So this is what he did as a super sub
Pace: 10/10: He is freaking fast. He can outrun a freaking varane.
Shooting: 8/10: He is fantastic. He is a 8/10 because of his penalty. I lost a shootout because I missed a pen from him. But he has scored some bangers with me.
Passing: 10/10: Class, just class. He has made the most assists for me and he is a super sub. Amazing. He can sort of take free kicks of you must a maestro or a catalyst.
Dribbling: 11/10: He is so silky on the ball. I passed the 5 defenders in my oponnetts team. Just amazing. (BTW he is also 5* skill moves, so that helps.)
Defending: N/A: Ok he is a cam, do I really need to explain this.
Physical: 7/10: Decent. Just put a anchor and he will be fine
Normal Promes card was already incredible for me this year, but this card is next Level. He just scores sooo many Goals, even as a CAM. If you have Klaiber, just do yourself a favor and link him with Promes RTTF because they are both absolute madness.
Dribbling with 5*Skills, Agility (always somehow comes trough with the ball)
This guy is an utter beast. Im div2 so decent oppostion in div rivals and currently playing weekned league (14-4 atm) and he can do it all. His 5 star skills make it easy to beat your man and 4 star weakfoot feels like 5. i put a finisher on him as his 91 pace plus high agility already makes him feel fast, and he doesnt miss. I paired him with ben yedder and they dominated, especially with van bergen and ansu fati out wide. His value for money isnt great atm but if you get the dutch league objectives done and he gets some eurpoa ugrades he is a worthy investment. Im doing the koeman for icon swaps and can only imagine the damge they will cause as cams (im looking to buy mid owen, another beast). Btw, the dutch objective players are unreal, especially the centre back- with shadow- 88 pace 94 strength 93 ovr def 85 ovr phys 88 short and long pass. Get yout hands on dumfries rulebrekers (although he is exctinct) and you have the best budget right side to any team.
Anyway, back to the main point. This card is brilliant and well worth the money and i hope my review helped!
fast
finishes everything
5 star skill 4 star wf
will get upgrade probably
superb free objective and icon swap (koeman and rikjaard) links
