What a joy this player is to use on the pitch. Being one of my favorite players in real life, I had to give this card a shot in game; I was not disappointed. Using him correctly allows you to use him at an elite level. Deadeye is the only chemistry style I'd recommend for him. He naturally has the pace and agility with his base stats to perform well; boosting his passing and shot power allows this card to be absolutely magical. He suits the central CAM position best, as his dribbling, passing, and movement is made for it. For his price-point, he is a definite 10/10 card for me; however, to give a fair review I'll assess each area in more detail below.
Pace & Agility: 9.5/10 - Being as short as he is, with his body type and dribbling characteristics, this card glides across the pitch effortlessly. No need to boost these areas as his base stats are more than efficient.
Shooting & Attack-Positioning:8.5/10 - He has lovely finesse shots in the box (great with both feet). He arrives in the correct areas at the right time.
Passing: 8.5/10 - He has consistent short and long passes. Not quite on a KDB level, but still very solid. Deadeye helps him in this department.
Dribbling: 9/10 - He is a joy to dribble with. He keeps the ball tight to his body and very rarely takes those hated emphasis touches other players make.
Value: 10/10 - For 150k you're not going to find a better value for what you put on the pitch in the CAM position. He would easily be over 300k if he was in another league.
Honestly I could skip this section, but to be fair I'll put down a few minor cons.
Strength:2/10 - He isn't going to outwrestle defenders for the ball; however, his compact dribbling makes it possible to evade defenders.
Shot Power: 6/10 - He generally will bag loads of goals due to good attack positioning. On occasion if you have to fire through a power shot near post, he will not get it through.
Stamina: 6/10 - Not horrible stamina, but will be a bit tired by the 80 minute mark. Keep him on Stay Forward Instructions to compensate for this.
So I picked up this card purely out of both annoyance and curiosity, year after year this card causes me pain because he seems to be unreal so I thought, let me work that to my advantage.
There is a full review of him on my YT channel for those interested, channel is KhalilPlays.
Anyway, all I can say is that he is an absolute dribbling god. Combine that with the fact he is rapid and has a great technical side means you have a player who is incredibly dangerous in and around the box. I'll do the ratings for his stats below and just talk about everything up here.
Firstly lets dive into his pace, I felt guilty for using him because he is so fast, I just started running in a straight line at people, he's not Taison fast but he is still super fast and it just makes him all the more difficult to deal with.
His dribbling, wow wow wow, its so close and tight, turns on a dime, moves quickly into the smallest gaps, and easily adjustable, this is the highlight of this card and I loved using him for this every second.
His shooting is great as well, I didn't boost his finishing at all but he still scored in abundance for me, really great on both his right foot and left foot which just makes it all the more difficult to stop him from scoring. The only con here is the lack of shot power which he has which means that he doesn't always bang in the long range shots, maybe boosting his shooting would fix this.
Passing, it was decent, the card shows a very high passing stat and he is good at it but he doesn't feel as clean and crisp in this department as he should, therefore I feel like this stat is just a little short for where I'd want it to be
Lastly his physical, there is a big issue here, especially because he has H/M workrates, his 77 stamina gets drained by the end of the game so I wish that was a little high, other than that, for a slight player like he is, I wouldn't be expecting a little strength monster so this was fine for me.
Speaking of his workrates, something is off here. It says high/medium but for some reason at times he is very slow in terms of his movement or doesn't move in the right way.
I played him in the CAM slot but noticed he was basically playing as a second striker, which is fine except i usually need my CAM to create more. So I found this a bit of an issue with his positioning too.
Finally his WF and SM, 4* 4*, the weak foot is fantastic and I hammered so many goals in from using his left foot. One thing I need to mention as well, this player is not my style of player and I got great results out of him, a proper skiller/dribbler would really benefit using this card, he's so OP when it comes to that.
I packed this card back when the Team of the Group stages had come out and at first was angry that I hadn't packed team of the group stage Messi, but this has certainly been an insane card and I don't regret packing him. Originally I played him in a premier league team, however as the game progressed I managed to acquire other serie A cards to link to him in order for him to have his best possible performance and he most certainly has. In using him with the likes of Paulo Dybala (flashback), Caputo (what if), and Muriel (RTTF), I've been incredibly happy with how good this card is, he can score, he can pass, and arguably his best quality, he can dribble incredibly well.
There are many Pros to this card, such as his relatively low price for a card of this caliber. Coming in at around under 200k at the time of writing. As well as his great pace especially for a midfielder, great passing and his incredible dribbling. This card often outpaces many defenders regardless of where you play him, put that with his ability to quickly change direction and easily leave other players for dead, and you've got yourself an incredible playmaker and even goalscorer. In my experience of experimenting, playing this card at ST, CAM, CM, and even as a RF at one point, I can say that he definitely is a player for all positions but works best when either deployed as a striker with a Hunter Chem style, or as a CAM with deadeye.
However, this card does have some flaws, such as the fact that it doesn't come with the best shooting, which by no means is bad coming with standard 83 shooting, and depending on the chemistry style you areusing, that can certainly be improved. As well as the fact that his physicals are not the best with only 59 Aggression, 46 strength, and only 77 stamina.
Well then, EL PAPU GOMEZ. What else can I say. The Cheap Maradona but better. I got Papu from a player pick a while back, and I've used him ever since. He is WORLD CLASS. Fits the meta perfectly but is also not a Varane or Mendy type meta. He is fun to use but also not a sweaty player like Gomez or Varane.
Pace: 10/10: Papu has insane acceleration and as a wide cam in a 4-2-2-2 he can beat a man very easily and carry through his pace to enter the 18 yard box and fire a shot or make a hard pass into Paddy Kluivert at RS
Shooting: 8/10: His shooting without a deadeye is good but not perfect. With a deadeye his shot power feels incroyable and his attacking runs a s a wide cam are delicious. Highly recommend a deadeye or even a hunter if you want
Passing: 9/10: Papu for me almost plays as a third or 2nd striker so passing is crucial, which he has. He can do intricate one-twos with kluivert or Aouar and has the ability to make a hard long pass 8/10 times when launching a counter attack. A Deadeye also boosts his passing to a good amount as well.
Dribbling: 800/10: THE BEST DRIBBLER IN THE GAME. THE BALL STICKS TO HIS FEET LIKE GORILLA GLUE STUCK TO THAT WOMANS HAIR. THE AGILITY AND BALANCE MAKES HIM SO RESPONSIVE EVEN IN POOR GAMEPLAY. EL MEJOR ES PAPU
Defending: N/A
Physical: 2/10: Weak but dribbling makes up for it. Can win a few headers but very rare
