The best chemistry style for him is SHADOW.

His 88 rated card was already a seriously good centre back, but this upgrade has tipped him into an elite group of players. No doubt he is now a top 3 non icon CB in the game. Search from all defenders with 82 + pace, 70+ dribbling, 90+ defending and 90+ physical and you'll be met with Smalldini and TOTS defenders - if that doesn't say it all already, listen up.
Pace 8/10
I've played him next to Varane and they are similar pace wise. Who hasn't used Varane? Easiest comparison. Anyway, he can catch most players and didn't struggle dealing with the usual Mbappe and Neymar who appear in every single game.
Dribbling 8/10
Felt less clunky than expected. He's still a mountain, but I didn't concede because of his movement once. Don't look at his stats and decide not to try him because of this.
Defending 10/10
Cracked. That's it. That's all you need to know. Blocks and tackles anything that comes near him.
Physical 10/10
Bullies everyone. Over 20 games played and not one person has managed to out muscle him. I'm also using shadow, not anchor.
Passing 9/10
I've used Vidic before and every time he passed the ball, I would expect it to go to a different player. Not Smalling - his passing is decent, especially for a CB.
Overall a fantastic CB and gives most icons a run for their money despite being a quarter of the price. He completely transformed my team and I've never felt more secure at the back than with this guy. Don't sleep on this card - I would pay more than 650k.
He is actually so good in game. i have him paired with Varane, both untradeable players i packed from 81+ upgrades. i thought Varane was the best CB in game that i had used but after getting Smalldini i was wrong. he is literally Varane but better and bigger, i feel bad for the people ill play online, he is so OP and he may even get more OP with an upgrade. being 6'4 he gets onto corners so well and even scores
pace
tackling
heading
blocking
price (if you pay for him)
linking (found it hard to get in my team, i link him to 2 icons and tavernier)
So lets just start out. I got Chris Smalling in the guaranteed what if sbc. So cant talk about value because I got him for free but hes around 600k at this point. For that price he is super worth it. Especially now that he got the upgrade is a 90 overall at this point. I would totally go get him. Hes huge at 6 foot 4. I scores lots of heading goals from corner( get outta here with your cheap short corners) Just put it on his head and he will head it in. hes also great defensively with headers. His speed 87/98 can catch pretty much anyone. He is always in the right spot and autoblock(sorry its a thing) stops alot of shots with him. The man has 98 strength so good luck bullying him out of the way.
Let's start, so I packed this guy in my guaranteed What-if pack and tried to fit him into my squad. First of all, I played him on 6 chemistry because he is really hard to link but he already was a beast. With his height of 6'4 he fits perfectly into the meta. I think he is a endgame player.
Pace 9/10
He'll be able to catch every attacker on a long distance. The only slight problem might be his acceleration but with a shadow it should be fine.
Passing 9/10
You don't need to worry about his passing, because for a defender its great.
Dribbling 8/10
Obviously with his height, his dribbling can feel a bit clunky sometimes but it's comletely fine. You may compare it to varane's.
Defending 10/10
This guy literally wins every 1-on-1 and only makes great tackles. He intercepts most passes and he's also good if you want to bully the opponent.
Physicality 10/10
He scored some headers for me and never gets pushed away from anyone. He is just a beast on the pitch, just as Vieira or van Dijk.
After packing him from an 81+ pick, I was hyped because I finally had a cb who could replace rijkaard mid. At first I played him as a left center back in 532 and to be honest I was expecting more from him. His acceleration was letting me down. Of course it wasnt really bad because he was with a shadow but he was still very slow. Then I tried him as a middle center back in 5212 and he was amazing. I got 25 wins that weekend and I was really hyped for my rewards. Unforunately my rewards weren't the best. He got the upgrade and these past couple of days I tried 352 because I got klostermann out of the party bag. His acceleration let me down again for the first couple of matches but it was also Cannavaro's fault. Something I didn't expect about this card was that he is scoring almost every corner. He is amazing with his head. If you have the coins and you need a solid center back that will get the job done, Smalling is your guy. His tackling is insane. I think it is even better than Cannavaro's. If I had to sum up Chris Smalling's What if card in just a couple words they would be: "Best CB for less than 1 million coins".
Aight so I packed the man from the guaranteed what if upgrade SBC, at first I didn't realise how good he is. He's solid at the back and he feels agile when he tackles, that upgrade certainly helps him. The only thing bad about him he needs a shadow or he won't perfom as good as he can because he really needs that extra pace.
Like a brick wall
Feels good when making a challenge
Although he's 6'4" he still has pace when you use shadow
Headers are decent
Not that fast without a shadow, if you want pace and defending just get varane
Pretty expensive when you compare him to meta CB's like opara, varane, gomez etc
So I used him a whole WL and Overall he is a good CB dont get me wrong but for me he is not worth 800k (onPC) if you can play way cheaper cbs like boateng, varane etc.
+ he wins almost every header
+ his sprintspeed ist good
+hist standing tackle is almost a autowin
-his acceleration ist so dogshit. when theres a deep pass he takes like 20 min to get to the striker. i played 4 bars deep and everything on balanced but hes just off position every time like his teammate bruno peres....
-the worst thing about this card is his sliding tackle. it takes almost a decade to get this man on the ground. if you play him just use the standing tackle will be better trust me
Hello, I wanted to make a Review about Smalling because, I swapped him against Varane IF and he makes a better Job than him.., I used him In the Weekend League for 21 Games already and need to say that he Is Insane, and with the Upgrade coming, he gets even better..
Tackling
Headers against Ronaldo etc.. no problem
Sliding Tackles
A bit Slow (when your Positioning Is good, Its no problem ^^)
