Player Review
86 - UEL Live
PROS +
Defending: His in-game build is very large, similar to Gullit, which provides very advantageous opportunities to muscle off other players and intercept. His raw defending stats are OK and nothing amazing, although the balance of his other characteristics make it feel much better.
Strength: One of the strongest players in the game, and his strengths reinforces his presence in the midfield and makes it almost impossible to push him off the ball. Interestingly, I would highly reccomend left-stick dribbling and to try hold possession in the box and change your gameplay style, solely for Kessie. I have recently tried this and he usually is stronger than most defenders so the AI will not /cannot auto-tackle him so it will work in your advantage to dribble around their defence slowly. Similarly, if the closest opposing defender tries to L2 jockey / track you, they will keep a distance by default instead of lunging in and tackling you (think of someone weak like neymar left-stick dribbling in front of a Defender-the defenfer will auto-lunge tackle, or push him off the ball extremely easily).
Shooting: Usable - his shot power is high, which makes up for the rest of the average shooting stats. I'd argue that shot power is one of the more important stats, especially in his position on the pitch.
Height: Perfect - Compliments his strength, build and stock.
CONS -
Agility: Kessie's agility is quite clunky and is probably what you would expect it to be for someone of his stature. Disappointing. (-Agility but +Dribbling!)
Pace: Do not play him with anything other than a shadow. Kessie's speed is quite poor and will often lead to many passes not being intercepted because he lacks to ability to transition to point A to point B quick enough. On the other hand his speed is maintained throughout the entire 90 and he does not seem to slow down, which is a positive. I would not sub this man off if you are using him.
Tracking back: Kessie's AI defence is notably quite poor, moreso than any other player I've used which is very strange. There are a few times where he has not transitioned back toward the defensive line when the opposing team is making a run. Im not sure if this is the fault of Kessie or the game/gameplay itself, however I thought I would be completely transparent.

FINAL WORDS
Despite some of the drawbacks of this card, it plays like a Sissoko 2.0. Kessie has a phenomenal ability to maintain possession on the ball and very seldom will he be tackled with ease. I would HIGHLY recommend to get this card, especially if you have a Serie A team or have icons to assist with the links. Kessie has been probably the most enjoyable card to play with this year and he is only going to get upgraded.
