Another FIFA year, another review for the GOAT

Hello everyone, it’s another year of FIFA and that means I’m back with another player review for TOTY Messi! He is the GOAT and my favourite player of all time so I make sure to save for him as much as I can every year. I then buy him and then build my team around him each year after TOTY.

However, I have barely played FIFA this year due to being unhappy with the gameplay. This means I probably only have 1 million liquid coins and therefore had no chance of being able to afford the GOAT. I could only dream of playing with TOTY Messi this year and thought my only chance would be by using his loan in friendlies..

But hold up. What’s that, A Gold upgrade pack? Walkout… Argentina…Barcelona…RW…. TOTY MESSI!!!

Guys I could not believe it. The one year I have no chance of paying 5 million coins for this beast, EA decide to give me him untradeable in a 2 player pack of all packs! Over the moon.

Now that’s out of the way, let’s get onto the review.

I want to emphasise just how much of a game changer this guy really is.

He is absolutely cracked. He makes this game fun to play and as my boy Inception says, ‘he is a gameplay compensator’. This is one of the best descriptions about Messi. We all play FIFA and know about the inconsistent servers and gameplay, often having our players feeling like they are stuck in mud and unable to move.

It honestly feels like Messi is not affected by any of this as he always feels responsive and fluid on the ball. Left stick dribbling with this guy is the best it’s ever been and it’s a joy to behold being able to dribble through your opponent’s defence and having an elongated amount of time on the ball to decide what you want to do next. When your opponent uses those annoying high pressure tactics just get the ball to Messi and you’ll have all the space you need.

A true GOAT and he really enhances and changes the way you’re able to play this game

PACE – 8/10. Feels absolutely rapid when accelerating. Skills are quick to come out of, body feints feel like cheat codes. However, over a 30 yard sprint – you’re likely to get caught. Use Messi’s pace in short bursts when around 35 yards away from the opponents goal to get the most out of him.

SHOOTING – 10/10. Finesse shot trait.

Outside of the foot shot trait. A 4* Weak Foot that feels like a 5* one. 99

Finishing. 96 Shot Power. Need I say more? GOAT.

PASSING – 9/10. Not a 10 because this game

is absolutely dreadful when it comes to passing. RNG at its finest. That being

said, Messi’s passes are usually pinpoint and are extremely accurate. Just not

100% of the time due to the nature of the gameplay.

DRIBBLING – 10/10. Already mentioned this

above but to keep things short and sweet – he’s the best in the game.

Compensates for bad gameplay, always feels responsive. This stat alone will

change the way you play this game as you dribble into infinite amounts of space

with him.

PHYSICAL – 7/10. Stamina has had a nice boost but 83 is still kind of on the low side. But to be honest 95% of the time you won’t even notice as it should only affect him in those sweaty games that go to extra time in Champs. Strength is decent, but nothing more. He’ll get shoved off the ball plenty, but he does have that BS factor about him that lets him retain possession sometimes.

THAT PRICE TAG – 5 Million? Seriously? As

much as I love this card I can’t possibly recommend buying him for that much

unless you have a stacked enough team already. 5 million coins is a LOT. As

much of a game changer as I think he is, you’re better off building a balanced

squad for that amount of coinage. But if you have the spare funds, he will

absolutely change the way you play this game and it’ll be for the better.
