Elite player here doing a quick review on Hermoso. I managed to get 25-4 with him in my team this wl so i'm pretty happy with that. I looked a long time a cb partner for Yuri Berchiche (btw what a baller also) and i think i finally found the one. Really good specially for his price, its hard to find a good cb with that kinda links for under 250k. Someone like Upamecano is also really good, but someone who is really pain to link with.
But quickly note on how he played. I used him with a shadow ofc as we all know the meta.. through ball, through ball, through ball... But he was really good at keeping up with lets say 95% of the strikers i faced. Only couple times in this wl he managed someone to actually outpace him and at both times it was against a toty Mbappe. Defending was really daamn solid. Defensively he was pretty much as good as Yuri, if not even better. He won most of the 50/50 balls, outbodied most people even though hes only 6'0 and he was really solid with the ball too.
Even after saying that i'm not gonna give you that "ohh hes a best cb in the game" no hes not. Hes one of the best at his price, but best he isn't. I've tried someone like prime Maldini and bro i don't wanna even talk about those auto blocks man. So no hes not the best cb in the game, but still hes really solid and someone i'm very sure you can be happy with till you can afford a better and more expensive cb. That is all.. if you have questions feel free to ask i try and answer to them as fast as i can.
- Pace. He can keep up with most of the strikers but may struggle against the very fastest like Mbappe etc, shadow chem style is really must have though.
- Defending. It actually surprised me of how good he was defensive wise, although he has a 98 interception, 96 def awarness, 99 standing tackle with shadow chem style on i was still pretty "surprised". Lets just say he played like someone with those stats suppose to.
- Really impressive physical even without boosting it. Won most of the 50/50 balls (i imagine aggression has something to do with that) and even though hes only 6'0 he still feels pretty strong.
- Really solid with the ball. Can pass out from the high pressure with pretty much no problem in most cases + he feels pretty smooth with the ball.
- Value for money. Honestly man probably the 2nd best 250k ish defender i used, just shy of Yuri Berciche who btw is absolute amazing also.
- Pretty good links. Specially for that Yuri, we needed more players to link him with and that's pretty much the only reason in decided to buy Hermoso in the first place. But there is ofc multiple many other players to link him with. Someone i found really nice is that i'm finally able to use Oblak in goal also, as they're both playing in Atletico. Oblak in my opinion is the best keeper in the game, but its pretty hard to link him with. Buying Hermoso make it possible again and oh boy hes still really good.. so much better than that fraud Alisson.
- Those fu**ing 5* skills man. Its all fun and games till you lead the game 3-0 and start to have a bit of fun and doing some elasticos in your own box with Hermoso, end up losing the ball and eventually the opponent ties it up. Yes they're still pretty fun to use, but just don't use them in your own end unless you wanna play with fire.
- H/m workrates. Guy sometimes thinks hes prime Koeman and starts to make some random runs to the box, leaving your defense really vulnerable. In 30 games this luckily only happen like 3-4 times but still scared the living crap out of me. Best thing in this thing is to make someone else to make a run by pressing L1 or R1 (on playstation). This makes the other player automatically stop doing their run.
- Not really strong in air. He can defend the headers fine with that 94 jumping doing pretty big help in that, but you are really lucky to score a header with him. Again not saying he cant win those i just think its so hard to score headers in the first place that you really need someone absolute beast in the box, Hermoso ain't that. But i still haven't conceded any headers also him in my team so the most important thing is he can defend them pretty well.
- Height. Bit taller player would make intercepting passes a bit easier with having taller legs (Vieira perfect example, that guys legs are so god daamn huge that its impossible not to intercept a pass with him). Also it could help a bit physically too.
