Player Review
96 - TOTS
So, I'll start off by saying this card is NOT for skillers, LB-dribblers or the like. Lukaku does not, funnily enough, have the agility of a fly in the frame of a wardrobe. If you want someone who can dance through the defense, then you'll probably hate Lukaku.
If, however, you are willing to settle for someone who will just make defenses redundant at the most important times, then my word is this the card for you.
The title of this review says nobody will believe it. The reason for that is because of his record for me, the entirety of which is based on FUT Champions or Division 1 Rivals (Co-op and Solo)...
175 goals. 43 assists. 83 games.
I'm around 2100 skill points and always stop at Gold 2 on Champs... so, yeah. I have never had such fun with such a ridiculous card. I've used him with both CATALYST and HAWK, only ever at STRIKER, but the end result is always the same.
This card's pitfalls are obvious - slow on the turn, no real dribbling, slow skill moves, etc. What makes this card so incredibly prolific is the stuff he does well, he does to absolute perfection. His positioning is utterly astounding, and he will hardly ever be caught offside. Once he's on the move, defenders may catch him but there is no way he is losing the strength battle. In the box, the Andy-Cole-esque turn-and-shoot is an almost guaranteed goal, especially with the directional nutmeg giving you the extra yard. In the air, he doesn't always win the battle, but when he does you better already be holding the "skip celebration" combo.
To truly enjoy this card though, bring a friend. Bring someone who will fizz in low driven crosses or well weighted through balls, and watch the goal tally go up and up... and up... and up.
The only tall player I've ever felt was prolific was the Flashback Ibra from yesteryear. Now though, Lukaku is firmly in the top spot for HPOTY (Hench Player of the Year).
P.S. If you care about his passing, you're doing it wrong (although it is pretty damn good, NGL).
- Once you get going, he's rapid and unstoppable.
- His shots are ridiculous, but only if you refrain from using Finesse shots.
- With Hawk, heading is an absolute doddle.
- His through balls are on point most of the time.
- Holds up the ball like he's put it in a bag and taken it home for tea.
- Agility isn't amazing.
- Skill moves take around 45 in-game minutes to execute.
- Not really worth considering Finesse shots.
- His right foot isn't that great, but it'll do.
- Honestly, the obvious stuff.... but I feel like it's stupid putting the cons in here, because NO card capable of such a goal tally should be considered bad in any way.
