Context is everything. If this card was going for less than 100k on the market, this would likely be a (mostly) glowing review. Instead, this card is going for north of 450k.

I packed Gomez in my red picks (Gold 1). He was slotted besides IF Delaney on and playing on 10 chemistry. After 30-35 games of having Gomez in my line-up, the card has been an overall disappointment. The card is unquestionably quick for a CB but struggles massively with making quality tackles and winning possession. For whatever reason, Gomez is consistently being beat in 50/50 situations and/or being caught off of his line where IF Delaney continuously cleans up the mess. Using IF Delaney as a 70k benchmark, Gomez trails behind that card quite handedly in quality.

With all of this being said, the vast majority of the games where this card was used was in Weekend League and Division 1 Rivals, where he consistently is up against Mbappe, Neymar, etc. just about every game. This card is absolutely dominant at times but struggles with defensive consistency. The passing feels suitable for a high-end CB and the same can be said for his dribbling.

The absolute #1 takeaway from this review should be, however, that the price is insanity for what this card provides you. He has been consistently underperforming when compared to cards like IF Delaney and he is notably not the game-changer that Gold Virgil Van Dijk is. If you packed an untradeable version of this card, go ahead and use it. But if you happen to have a tradeable version of this card, sell it immediately and get VVD instead. Your team will thank you for it.
