Ivan Toney, when i saw this card in the TOTW i knew he was going to be my striker in the beginning of the game.
I used him for 8 games and he scored 12 goals and assisted 5.
Firstly, if you like to play with fast and super agile strikers, you probably won't like this card, but if your playstyle is a little bit like mine, he will score a lot of goals for your club.
Pace: He can outpace some centerbacks, but he will struggle against a really fast centerback like Lacroix.
Shooting: I used a marksman on him, so his finishing inside the box was really good and his shot power was incredible, his positioning was fantastic, always in the right place, at the right time, but his weakfoot was a problem.
Passing: His passing is okay, it wasn't incredible but it wasn't horrible either.
Dribbling: For a player that is 6'2, his dribbling was decent and his ball control was great, but sometimes he does feel a little clunky.
Physicality: This is where this card shines, he is really strong on the ball, but the best part is his aerial ability, 95 jumping with 92 heading acc and the power header trait, he is a cheat code at corners and just crossing in general.
He is the perfect target man, he can hold the ball and play the simple passes, really good finishing in his strong foot and an absolute beast at headers.
This card is an absolute beast of a striker! not only is his rating upgraded by 8, but his height is upgraded by 4 inches! but seriously, if you're one of those players where you can only use 5* 5* players you're gonna hate this card, but if you don't mind a little bit of clunkiness this man will absolutely smash it for you. his height and physicality mean he rarely gets shoved off the ball (if ever) he'll push defenders out of the way, and i swear, if you ever get a red card on your centre back, stick this man in defense, ok, don't do that, but he's so massive you can actually make some good tackles with him if you need to, and his slide tackles will have a decent change at intercepting a pass here and there. his pace isn't the best out there, but if you stick a hunter or an engine or whatever on him, he can out run a lot of centre backs, obviously excluding the ones like lacroix, st juste ect. his shooting isn't exceptional but if he gets in position you can rest easy knowing he's gonna put it in the back of the net. Obviously his headers are so insane I don't even have to talk about them, i swear i saw him jump higher than Mendy's outstretched hands once. I bought him when he was about 16k but even at 22k he's still definitely worth the money and i would recommend him for any starter team if your tactic isn't spamming elasticos.
He is an absolute tank. Even though I over payed for him he has been worth every penny. Leading me to promotion after promotion leading the line scoring the goals getting the assists while captaining the side. His conversion rate is stupid and he is able to use his strength and speed really effectively to just combined to make a brilliant all round striker.
His Pros Are:
Finishing
Strength
Speed
And many more
If I had to try and find a con I would have to go with:
Packed him in a guaranteed IF pack and decided to make him the focal point of attack, and let me say, it was a very good idea
CHEM - Basic
PAC - 85 Decently quick, nothing out of this world. His defensive workrate being high also means he'll always start his runs a bit behind the defensive line and for some reason seems hesitant to run even if you make a 1-2 pass with him so he isnt the guy to outrun everyone's defence. His 86 strength does help massively when running alongside a defender (we'll get to that later)
SHO - 84 - Low-driven = goal
PAS - 73 - Stat may seem low but Toney is perfectly capable of linking with other forwards, Is also decent at playing through balls to players running in behind
DRI - 80 - Again decent but nothing special. Excels at getting past players with 1 or 2 touches but dont think about going on some messi/dinho style run with him. Also 3* skills
DEF - 54 - Normally wouldn't be important but Toney is weirdly good at intercepting passes out from the opponents defense and poking the ball away,
PHY - 85 - Might as well be made of metal and on tracks because this guy is a serious TANK. Outmuscles every defender he's played against (Including VVD and Marquinhos). Makes mince meat of starter defenses, Wins every header. It takes 6 players to bring this guy down. Outjumps Keepers for goals. Makes running past defenders easy even with lower pace due to his incredible physique. Lasts 90 mins consistently
Conclusion - BEAST. Will be in my team for a very long time assuming his type of CF doesent get patched out of usability by EA For only 25k definitely worth checking out if you want a target man with excellent finishing and physicality.
Pros:
Elite finishing
Deceptively good passing
Makes useful defensive contributions
World-class physicality
Cons:
Not really that fast compared to other options up front e.g. Auba, Werner, Bailey
I use Toney as a supersub when I´m down on the score. He is great for those hard matches when you can´t create any chances. He never lost a single header when taking corners. If you time well a throughball he will easily win it as he has a good physicality and has a big body.
Shooting 8/10: He has scored power long shots from outside the box. The downside it´s his weak foot
Pace 8/10: He feels faster than what his stats say
Strength 10/10: He won´t get be getting bodied out of the ball
Heading and Jumping 10/10: If I get a corner and he is on the the pitch it means I´ll be scoring. He has won headers against Ramos and Ronaldo. Great when having to defend too.
Positioning 8/10: correct positioning when the goalie gives a rebound to score the tap in. His AI does make good attacking runs too.
Dribbling 5/10: he doesn´t turn smoothly.
Passing 4/10: This is his main con. He is quite bad passing the ball, especially when I´m counterattacking and I try passing a through ball. So try only passing him the ball to shoot and not to create a play.
