I used Kessie as CDM for over 600 games (I'm a Div. Elite player, btw). I think he's still a top CDM at the time of this review, but i decided to try something different especially for the build-up phase were I used to make a lot of mistakes while passing or trying to dribble an opponent's midfielder.
First of all: Elmas is not "that" kind of CDM. He's tall but lean, and even though his defensive stats are ok (I use Shadow) you need to stay really close to your opponent in order to make an effective takle. Elmas' defensive movements are not automated at all, except in interceptions that are really good.
That said, my goal was to use a more technical and agile player that could also defend decently next to Barella 88. And Elmas is perfectly on point. His agility and 5* skills let you dribble opponents in the midfield area even when you are under pressure or after recovering a ball, and on top of that his acceleration is brilliant. Passing is good in the build-up phase, but don't expect it to be always perfect for assists.
He's more like a playmaker than a proper CDM, this means that if you are looking for something that feels like Kante, Kessie or Guendouzi this is not the right choice.
Despite the H/M workrate, if you use him a CM he often tries to put himself immediately outside of the box while attacking, even with the "stay back" instruction, so keep this in mind.
5* skills
Dribbling
Acceleration
Passing (compared to other CDMs)
Interceptions
Not really consistent while defending, needs precise inputs with the controller
This is a crazy and funny card, i thook to change my team to give link to ivan cordoba and buy koulibaly, and i thook to buy vidal RTTK but i gave an oportunity and THIS IS A BEAST , 5 skills gives a very fun time to this game, per 40k its a beast Serie A CDM ,Dont think about to buy this player
