The Egyptian Finesse
By eboat, 30-10-2023

It's no surprise that Salah's gold card is, once again, a very good card that will hold its place in squads until spring season. A good thing about Salah throughout the years is his ability on the ball, with the combination of good animations and very well balanced dribbling stats, making him quick and nimble and able to dominate the right wing offensively. Using him as the RW/RCAM in 433(4) and 4231, I was impressed by his support when defending along the flank and how at times he'd tend to cover the right middle of the pitch while other players pushed up. I had no problems with him attacking from the right wing, whether it'd be for the rare cutback to break a strong defense or to make space to clear him a shot at an angle. His shooting is very very good this year thanks to his playstyle+, something that must be abused while still this effective as it really does the elevate the card beyond what it normally is. Getting into the box from the right wing it is outrageously easy to score finesse crosses when at an angle with the goal, be it from close to goal or from well outside the box. The playstyle+ also helps him finish shots straight on, though it is not as effective as from an angle. His passing is fairly average but gets the job done, but it is the one area where you will sorely notice his weak foot. I used this card for 15 games, 10 of which were in Weekend League and the remaining 5 in Rivals Division 5, where he managed an impressive 24 goals and 4 assists. Finishing the Weekend League 14-6 (and packing him again... untradeable...), he participated in 7 of my wins and really did improve my results, managing hat tricks in 2 of those matches. I can say that as a support player I did not really utilize him to what may be his greatest potential, and as you can see from his assists he did not really provide too much finishing support on the third of the pitch. I found myself using him exclusively to finish long build ups or to break the defense with R1 dribbling. If his weak foot were better I'm sure I'd utilize him for quick passing more, but as it stands it proves to be a liability. Overall I give this card a 9/10 as things stands, as his playstyle+ does contribute a lot to my perception of him. I'm sure I'll be using him for a long time unless I am lucky enough to pack a better alternative.

Still Fire?

Got him in the 83x20.

I've used him on LW and RW with Hawk in a 4-2-3-1, amazing performance on both sides.

Pace: Feels a bit slower than it should with Hawk and 3 chem, but still decent if you know how to left stick dribble.

Shooting: After patch, his shooting outside the box isn't as op as it was, some will still enter the net, but most won't. You need to position him in a very specific angle for the ball to enter, Finesse+ feels just like Finesse(silver) after the patch.

Nice finishing inside the box, either normal shot, trivela or finesse. Inside the box he's as lethal as a striker, just with the little detail of 3*WF that feels like 4* when it comes to shhooting.

Another detail i'd like to remark is his heading, which is pretty good, I've scored some headers with him either from corner rebounds or crosses from my other winger.

Passing: Actually I'd say it's even better than some midfielders, his trivela crosses are just so fine that most of his assists are from those. Short passing and through balls are superb as a winger and almost feels like those old Messi cards.

Long balls are sometimes good, but don't abuse them.

Dribbling: His ball control feels like Dennis Bergkamp, he's just so fine that aerial balls aren't a problem for him if you stop pressing R2 when receiving the ball.

His dribbling is nice, nothing special but very good. Can dribble in close spaces and does the skills pretty fast, I also felt that the speed bost from stepovers with him is more noticeable than with my other players. I noticed that when playing with him he only uses his left foot to dribble doesn't matter the situation, you won't notice because doens't affect the gameplay(most times) but it may interfere with positioning his body for a shot.

Good body type and height for a winger, helps him dribble.

Defending: Worst defender on my team, doesn't intercep neither unless the ball is straight to his body. Won't ask him to defend tho because we don't have him for that.

Physicality: Nice stamina, endures the 90 minutes of the game pretty good even after making manual runs. Strength is enough, not as half as strong as Adama Traore but better than Diaby or any short winger.

He won't jump for the ball, most of his headers are from the ground because if he jumps, he falls.
