TOTW 5 PREDICTIONS

We take a break from domestic leagues once again, as countries across the world go head to head in a multitude of cups, competitions and friendlies. Windows such as this make for extremely interesting TOTW predictions, as we find players playing in different positions, against easier opposition, and most importantly, securing themselves a spot amongst the elite with a fancy new inform card.

Some choices have been extremely tough this week, and while there appear to be some nailed on selections, a handful of others could easily sneak in or narrowly miss out, depending on how EA are feeling.

Starting Eleven

Donnaruma

While we have numerous possibilities and options for outfield players this week, deciding on which goalkeeper’s to use was nothing short of a nightmare. There are several that fit the bill of a clean sheet and a handful of saves, but the man we are option for here is Italy’s Donnaruma. Italy picked up a 1-0 win away to Poland, and while Donnaruma only had to make 3 saves, it was enough to ensure the clean sheet and see him sneak into our predictions.

Ramos

Ramos was on my list of possibilities before Monday’s matches, and the game against England only made things a lot more complicated. Firstly we need to look at the negatives, across both games Spain failed to keep a clean sheet. Firstly they picked up a 4-1 win over Wales, and then a 3-2 loss against England. So why exactly is he making this list? Well, he scored in both of the games, and from a center-back who sells packs, that’s quite possibly enough.

Bailly

In the Premier League Manchester United may be struggling to pick up points, let alone keep a clean sheet, however it was a very different matter for Ivory Coast during their match this week. They picked up the win during a 4-0 victory over Central African Republic, and while Bailly kept a clean sheet here, he also managed to get his name on the scoresheet, and into our predictions too.

Van Dijk

From one massive Premier League centre back to another now, and this one is a player that most would love to find amongst their weekend league rewards. Holland brushed aside Germany in a 3-0 win, and while there are plenty of possible nominations for this spot, including the likes of Wijnaldum, Depay and ever Cillessen, VVD is the man who gets the nod.

Alex Sandro

International week can really mix things up, creating a whole heap of possibilities, and this superstar line-up we have in defence is a prime example. Brazil were away to Saudi Arabia for their first match this week, and while they may not have scored quite as many as people expected, they did secure the win during a 2-0 victory. Sandro at the back not only helped keep a clean sheet, but also got his name on the scoresheet too.

Dockal

The Czech Republic were away to Slovakia for one of their matches this week, and in a game that provided 3 goals, it was the visitors who managed to edge out a 2-1 victory. Dockal himself wasn’t on the scoresheet, however he was the man behind both the goals, and with 2 assists, he may just make the cut.

James Rodriguez

We told you that this could be a week full of superstars, and we aren’t even nearly done yet! Colombia picked up a 4-2 win against the USA in their first match this week, and while Rodriguez is the man getting the nod, there was tight competition for his spot. Arias picked up 2 assists from his fullback position, and if we didn’t already have an overwhelming number of defenders listed, or he managed to keep a clean sheet, we could have been seeing him feature here. Rodriguez was still sensational for Colombia, with a goal and assist, i would be surprised to see him left out.

Carlos Vela

While most players on this list were taking part in their International matches, there was still a handful of leagues playing their domestic matches across the country. Now while a lot of these selections could easily just miss out, Vela is nothing short of an absolute certainty. With 2 goals and 2 assists during LAFC’s 4-2 win over Houston, this inform is happening.

Sterling

After an extremely dull 0-0 draw against Croatia in the week, England came out guns ablazing against Spain on Monday night. Once again there are several possible candidates for this spot, after they went on to beat Spain 3-2. Harry Kane with 2 assists, Rashford with a goal and an assist, but with two goals to his name, Sterling is the man who gets our vote.

Dzeko

Another Monday night fixture now, where Bosnia brushed aside Northern Ireland in a comfortable 2-0 win. Pjanic was absolutely incredible throughout, dominating the midfield, running every play, and even providing an assist. However, with 2 goals and a superstar performance up top, Dzeko simply has to make this list.

Lukaku

So here we are, at our final spot within the starting eleven, and our final superstar to make the cut. If you thought Manchester United were going to struggle for informs this year, just wait for the next International break! Belgium narrowly beat Switzerland 2-1 in their first fixture this week, and just in case you hadn’t guessed it, Lukaku was the man behind both of their goals.

Substitutes and Reserves

Hamid

Onto our substitutes and reserves now, and we are heading back across to America with our second MLS selection of this line-up. DC United were narrow 1-0 winners over FC Dallas for their domestic fixture this week. With 6 saves and a dominating performance throughout from Hamid, they have him to thank for taking all 3 points here.

Kololli

Kosovo were 3-1 winners over Malta in their first fixture this week, and while Kololli may not have quite managed to ensure the clean sheet, he was the man of the hour for other reasons. Scoring twice during their victory, this fullback storms into this line-up, and fully deserves his spot amongst the elite.

Neustadter

As a proud owner of around a billion OTW Golovin, I was really hoping that he would wrack up a mesmerizing performance this week, however it just wasn’t meant to be. In their second game of the week, Russia were 2-0 winners over Turkey, with Neustadter not only ensuring a clean sheet was kept, but also scoring one of the goals. Maybe next week Golovin, maybe next week.

Aquino

Peru were surprise 3-0 winners over Chile in their International clash this week, and with such a result, an inform almost seems required. Aquino is the man who gets our vote, scoring twice and commanding the game, all from the midfield.

Qazaishvili

Next up we have a match between Georgia and Andorra, a game that provided it’s viewers with 3 goals. Sadly for the visitors, all of these goals went in favour of the hosts, and it was Georgia who comfortably took the win. Qazaishvili was the hero on the night, full of energy throughout, and also the man behind two of the goals.

Mateus

Angola were hosts to Mauritania for their first fixture of the week, where they comfortably picked up the win during a 4-1 victory. Mateus was absolutely brilliant out on the wing, scoring twice and securing his spot amongst this list of superstars.

Victor Rodriguez

On a week that saw International games take over, you didn’t think that we would stop at just two MLS players did you? Well, the reality is that we may be pushing things by including a third, but each and every player mentioned is fully deserving. Seattle were comfortable 4-1 winners over Houston on the weekend, and with 2 goals and a superb performance from the left, Rodriguez makes our shortlist here.

Arnautovic

We have what could be described as a fairly weak selection up next, as with only 1 goal as a striker, it simply may not be enough. With that being said, Arnautovic was the only name on the scoresheet when Austria played Northern Ireland over the weekend. His goal was the difference between the two sides, and he sneaks into this line-up, but by the skin of his teeth.

Pandev

Macedonia and Liechtenstein is the next match on our schedule here, and in a game that provided 5 goals, it turned out to be a very comfortable 4-1 win for the hosts. While Pandev may have only found the back of the net once himself, the fact that he then provided 2 assists should be enough to see him make the final cut.

Ighalo

Nigeria faced off against Libya for their weekend fixture, a match that provides us our first and last hat-trick of these predictions. Nigeria ended the match as comfortable 4-0 winners, and just in case I wasn’t subtle enough, Ighalo was the man behind the first, second and third goal, to secure his hat-trick, alongside his first inform of the year.

Mitrovic

Serbia were away to Montenegro for their fixture this week, and it looks like the journey was worthwhile. They left as 2-0 winners, and Mitrovic was a man on fire. Scoring both the goals and terrorising the defence, he could very well pick up from where he left off last year, with his first inform of FIFA 19.

Mugosa

Our final selection this week sees Montenegro featuring once again, however this time they are the ones who stole the spotlight. In a simple 4-1 over Lithuania, Mugosa was the man who really stood out. Scoring twice and helping his country pick up the points, he takes our final spot in this weeks predictions.
