Even with the additional boosts implemented by EA last week TOTW 10 was rather underwhelming. Although TOTW 11 is not game-changing either there are still several usable players with the likes of Harry Kane, Kounde and Tonali alongside potential featured TOTWs for both Danilo and Leno.
Bernd Leno - GK - 80 > 87 OVR - FEATURED TOTW
Six saves and clean sheet / 1-0 win against Leicester / 8 Sky Rating
Goalkeepers were extremely difficult to select this week with practically none jumping out. Leno comes from a midweek game and with limited Premier League options his addition would help out on that front too. The German made several saves to ensure all three points went home with Fulham.
Danilo - CB - 80 > 87 OVR - FEATURED TOTW
Goal and clean sheet / 1-0 win against Udinese / 7 Gazzetta Rating
Although Danilo’s match rating is a modest one at 7 with not many leagues in action this weekend it means that his chances are increased. The only goal of the game made it eight consecutive league wins for Juventus as they have stormed up the Serie A league table and now sit just four points off leaders Napoli.
John Stones - CB - 83 > 86 OVR
Clean sheet / 1-0 win against Chelsea / 8 Sky Rating
Although Chelsea are on horrendous form as of late this was still a tough match for City with even more pressure being added knowing they could close the gap on Arsenal with a win. Mahrez ended up scoring the only goal of the game but it was Stones who stood out, claiming MOTM for his solid performance at the back.
Samuel Umtiti - CB - 79 > 84 OVR
MOTM / 2-1 win against Lazio / 7.5 Gazzetta Rating
Lecce shocked Lazio during the midweek set of fixtures with a 2-1 win. Although Umtiti didn’t contribute offensively nor kept a clean sheet his performance was still top drawer. Being named MOTM with a strong match rating and with it being a surprise result I feel that he sneaks in.
Jules Kounde - RB - 84 > 87 OVR
Clean sheet / 1-0 win against Atletico / 7.9 Whoscored Rating
Hopefully, EA will make Kounde’s secondary position a CB but I wouldn’t get your hopes up after the Frenchman played out on the right-hand side of a back four. Barcelona scraped a 1-0 win against fellow high-flyers Atletico. It could have been different though with Kounde clearing one off the line and putting in an overall strong performance to keep the clean sheet intact.
Solly March - RM - 75 > 83 OVR
One goal / 4-1 win against Everton / 7 Sky Rating
Brighton made it four wins from their last six in convincing style as they continue to push towards European positions. The IF should they get one is not clear with four different goalscorers, with a couple being silver too. March is my punt but it could also be Gross.
Sandro Tonali - CM - 84 > 87 OVR
Goal and assist / 2-1 win against Salernitana / 7.5 Gazzetta Rating
Tonali saved AC Milan from dropping points after his two-goal contributions helped them scrape the three points. With EA’s new system for TOTW upgrades in place, I would expect that 84 now goes to 87 making Tonali a strong option on this side.
Oliver Torres - CM - 78 > 83 OVR
One assist / 2-1 win against Getafe / 7.7 Whoscored Rating
Sevilla have been a top-tier side in recent times, winning the Europa League on numerous occasions. They are seriously struggling this season though with a vital three points this weekend lifting them out of the relegation zone. There are a couple of fringe options from Sevilla for this side but my punt in Torres with one assist.
Felipe Anderson - RW - 79 > 84 OVR
Goal / 2-2 draw with Empoli / 7 Gazzetta Rating
I have to take a couple of punts with this side as the options do run out at an alarming pace. Anderson is one of those punts simply to get a decent card into the side. He was awarded MOTM during a 2-2 draw but during a normal week, he wouldn't get close.
Gerard Moreno - ST - 85 > 87 OVR
Goal and assist / 2-1 win against Real Madrid / 3 Stars
With Villarreal inflicting only a second defeat upon Real Madrid it is highly likely that we will see an IF from Villarreal this week. However, the decision is far from easy, with multiple players standing out. Moreno is the easiest on paper having played a part in both their goals thus I have opted for the Spaniard.
Harry Kane - ST - 89 > 90 OVR
Two goals / 4-0 win against Palace / 8 Sky Rating
With Haaland’s simply phenomenal record in the Premier League this season Kane is perhaps going under the radar but with 15 goals from his opening 18 he is still on for over 30 goals, which is something not many achieve in the Prem. Kane is still without an IF this year so this brace should be enough for his first
Substitutes
Jasper Cillessen - GK - 80 > 84 OVR
Six saves / 1-1 draw with Ajax / 8 VI rating
Although there is no clean sheet Cillessen was still pivotal for NEC as they managed a 1-1 draw with heavy favourites, Ajax. Cillessen claimed a high match rating for the performance and with limited keeper options, I don't think you can look past that.
Sverrir Ingi Ingason - CB - 76 > 83 OVR
Goal and clean sheet / 1-0 win against Aris / 7.9 Sofascore Rating
We had a surprise inclusion from the Greek division last week and I have tried not to miss out on that front again this time. Ingason is from a midweek fixture but after scoring the only goal of the game as a gold defender he is one of the better defensive options this week.
Dan Burn - CB - 77 > 83 OVR
Clean sheet and MOTM / 0-0 draw with Arsenal / 8 Sky Rating
Newcastle made it six consecutive Premier League clean sheets with a goalless draw against Arsenal, ending Arsenals five game winning streak in the process. Dan Burn was awarded the official MOTM as Newcastle took their unbeaten streak to 13!
Ruben Alcaraz Jimenez - CDM - 76 > 83 OVR
One goal / 1-0 win against Valencia / 8.5 Whoscored Rating
Cadiz now only has one loss in their last five, picking up over half their total point tally in that time. Their latest points came via a Ruben Jimenez strike securing all three against Valencia
Roberto Pereyra - RM - 78 > 83 OVR
One goal / 1-1 draw with Empoli / 7 Gazzetta Rating
Pereyra is another punt and once again it comes against Empoli despite only managing a draw. Gazzetta is often harsh n match ratings thus a 7 is a respectable score. Midfielders especially were difficult to select and therefore Pereyra could easily end up making the selection.
Mauro Icardi - ST - 77 > 85 OVR
Goal and assist / 3-0 win against Fenerbahce / 8.1 Whoscored Rating
Galatasaray vs Fenerbahce is the most anticipated match-up in Turkey and thus usually presents an IF. Icardi is seemingly the best option here despite coming off the bench. The Argentine was involved in two of their three goals securing a somewhat comfortable win.
Anderson Talisca - ST - 82 > 85 OVR
Brace / 2-0 win against Al-Tai / 8.1 Sofascore Rating
There is a lot of hype surrounding the Saudi league and specifically Al-Nassr with the addition of Ronaldo to the side. There are several quality players within their ranks though and one of those could end up in TOTW 11. Talisca scored both their goals during a routine 2-0 win.
