TOTY Varane is simply amazing. I managed to pack him as an untradeable in a gold upgrade pack, and even for the 1.8 million coins give or take that he costs, it is totally worth it. He has so many pro's and almost no con's, and I truly think he is one of the best defenders in this game, easily as good as other top class defenders such as TOTY RAMOS, TOTY Van Dijk, Maldini, Blanc, etc... Keep in mind that I use an anchor chem style on him, but others such as sentinel would also be fine in my opinion.
Pace: The pace TOTY Varane has is perfect, 93 acceleration combined with 96 sprint speed via anchor truly makes varane incredibly fast, almost no attacker will ever outpace TOTY Varane.
Defending:With anchor all defending stats become 99 except an 97 in interception, and I can say that his defending is perfect. He always gets the ball from the opponent, and never with fouling. He will win all aerial duels and will always clear the ball.
Physical:Jumping, strength and aggresion are amazing, and stam is great for a cb's.
Passing: You could defiently feel the passing boost with the 99 in both short and long passing, he will rarly misplace a proper pass.
Dribbling: 99 in ball control, reactions and composure is amazing for a cb, and his 85 in agility is also a nice addition to TOTY Varane
Shooting: Obviously an irrelevent stat for a defender, but TOTY Varane has good heading, and in the games that I've played with him so far, he's scored a couple header goals already from corners.
Price: I suppose TOTY Varane's price is expensive coming in at about 1.8 million at the time of writing, but if you have the coins, then he is simply worth every penny.
TOTY Varane is nearly as good as TOTY VVD. I have yet to try out Ramos (and have no plans to), so I feel as though Varane is the second best CB in the game. Varane has the height, the stats, and the work rates. He's as close to perfect as you can get when it comes to a central defender.
Unfair pace. It doesn't make sense why a CB of his size is that fast.
Can shoot the ball if needed, but don't rely on it going in
Will start off by saying I haven't used the regular gold or UCL version of his card. Needed help with my defense because I am absolutely awful this year at defending. He is all over the place, has 95 pace with Anchor, but feels slightly slower. His physicality is what really sets him apart from all the other defenders I've used. Jockeying almost any player will result in him poking the ball away, and even a poorly-timed "circle" press for him still usually steals the ball. He was only beaten once in the air in around 90 games, but only managed to score about 5 goals. Extremely quality player, but I've ultimately decided to move on and replace with HL Lucas Hernandez and allocate the coins elsewhere.
Sorry if my title offended you, at least in FIFA 19 we can actually measure their performances.
Varane likely packs behind VVD also (which I have not used). However when you play the Weekend League, you will notice more VVDs and Ramos
But let's go back to Varane. Solid defender, pacy and likely to be your saviour at the back before the keeper. He possess very good passing stats as well so once you win the ball at the pack, get your wingers to run blind as his long balls will find them.
If you can only afford one TOTY defender and on a budget. I'd go for this guy.

I feel him presence at the back not as strong as Ramos. Lacks that commander at the back. He's a great defender but doesn't give me the same confidence when Ramos is bossing at the back
Although a TOTY, nonetheless pricey for a CB that likely will not win you goals but tackles that make a difference
First of all sorry for my bad English, i´m from Germany. I´ve bought this Card for 1.730.000 and to hope getting one if not the best CB in the Game, but i was wrong.
His normal Card was insane for me and so i´m even more disappointed that i´ve lost about 100k for selling him . But Maybe it is because i couldnt handle his Playstyle.
In Conclusion you can say he is definetly a good CB, but not worth 1.7 Mio. I try to get Van Dijk or Ramos as soon as possible to see if they´re better.
Pace: The Man is like a Rocket on the Field, USUALLY he catches up to Players Like Aubameyang, Mbappe etc. easily with his 90 Pace and 99 composure and get´s the ball without fouling them.
Defending: He only fouled like 1 or 2 Times even if i slide-tackle with him in the penalty area, he clears the ball.
Heading: In the Air, only VVD Toty or Ronaldo/Ramos maybe could beat him otherwise 99% he wins the header. Corner, Cross, Varane Jump´s, Goal.
Passing: His Passing was good, i wouldn´t say it feels like 99 short and long passing but it was quite good for a CB.
Positioning: The Main-Issue with him was his Positioning sometimes he was at RB, sometimes he was at the CDM. And that happened not once or twice, sometimes 3-4 times in a game.
I´m playing DIV 1 with my Mega Squad(CR7, Ferdinand, Neymar, Socrates, Marcelo TOTY etc.) and Mistakes like this will be punished (Can i say it like that?).
Agility: Now you´re thinking why does he say Agility is a Con, when he has 85 Agility as a CB, because he turns immediately combined with his Pace and Reactions, and so i was sometimes to fast for the opponents attacker and i run away form the ball.
Unconsistent: The biggest Issue for me was that he had games were he was unbelievable good but also games were felt like a 80 rated cb worth 600 coins. The first 3 or 4 games were decent and i thought i´ve made a good deal but after that he felt clumsy, slow. etc. He played like he had no Motivation to Defend.
