As I see the weekly challenges I thought I have to try him out. I play De Ligt FFS with Maldini 92 as CBs and linked them with Van der Sar 89 because Donnarumma was almost a very bad goalkeeper for me this FIFA.
Van der Sar 89 was a really good keeper for my playstyle and I loved him much due to his reflexes, height and his long-throw-trait.
But I give Onana a go in this WL which I finished with 11/2 due to a lack of time. And what should I say? Onana is a really good GK (I used him with GK basic).
I don't notice his positioning, his reflexes are unreal and his height with 1,87m is more than okay, but he could be a bit taller.
But the most surprising fact about Onana is that he performs like a god at penaltys.
Main problem with Onana are that it comes to dangerous situations when he has the ball on hands. Don't try long throws with him, just let the ball drop and play a short pass or kick the ball to your strikers.
All in all I would say you have to give him a chance if you have to link De Ligt or you have two icons as CBs, because he is for free.
I was able to finish the weekly objective and get this card for free. I was excited to get him because I have 89 De Light and Haps on my left. Sadly, this card is like Dallas Cowboys. They look good, you want them to be good, but they're trash. The thing about this card that makes all of his other high stats useless is his positioning! I am not the best defender in the world, but when I use de gea, or even 84 casillas, I would always have confidence that they would put themselves in the right spot to make a big save. Now I am practically sweating anytime someone is bombing down the pitch to my goalie. He has made some decent saves here and there, but still....POSITIONING IS KEY. I am getting KILLED in fut champs because his not quite in the right spot to dive for Ronaldo's rockets while de gea was smacking everything out the box. His speed is nice to move him around and push up for corners as well. His kicking distribution is like Edersons on steroids. I am not too upset since I didn't spend any coins on him though. This will be a good card for TOTS SBCs in the coming weeks so I am only keeping him for that and going back to de gea.
