When i saw this rodri card i originally thought i would never get it, as i had 88 desailly and 86 gullit as my two cdms in a 4231. However, after i got promoted in div rivals i realised that desailly is no where near good enough technically to deal with even mid-high tier attackers. Just to be sure, i bought rodri tradeable to complete the objective with. After playing around 20 games with this card and the untradeable one i now have from objectives i have to say that he feels far better than any other CDM i have used this year. If this was a hard to get or expensive card review on rodri, i'd recommend to wait until other TOTS come out as there will be better CDM players throughout the promo. However, he is really simple to get. His defending is extremely solid, putting in strong and solid challenges to block off counters and other dangerous attacks. Another massive pro is his height, standing at 6"3. This makes him able to 90% of headers, and along with his good tackling he can stretch pretty far to intercept attacks. He can even score a few goals from time to time, ironically scoring the goal that finished the untradeable objective for him. Having this card allowed me to put desailly into an 100k pack and get 100k worth of players back.
height, stamina, ball control, short passing, stand tackle, interceptions.
Okay so I first finished the first two weekly challenges + odegaard so I felt like I had to get this one, and he is definitely the most useable. Rodri is a very good CDM and thats where I use him. He plays the second half usually for me coming on next to Futmas Torreira. Rodri is surprisingly able to dominate and dictate play in midfield even when coming up against people like Kante, IF fabinho, etc.

A little slow I guess but i just used a chem style
I saw all of the hype over Rodri and after using him for some games in Div Rivals and WL, he's not as good as everyone is touting. I tried a number of different chem on him (artist, engine, powerhouse, maestro) and he's just not doing the same job that I had 86 SIF Thomas Partey was doing in my mid-field. He's big, but he's too slow and not agile enough to catch up to competitors' midfielders and forwards on defense, and because he's Medium workrate on offense, he doesn't help me enough upfront. Bottom line is if you're looking for a pure tank CDM only, then use Rodri. If you want a guy who is true box to box, then I cannot recommend Rodri.
Some players in the same cost bracket but better than Rodri: UCL TOTT 91 Kroos (better on offense, worse on defense), Goretzka (85/87), Thomas Partey (84/86), Thomas Delaney (84/86)
So this isn’t a terrible card but at this point in the game it’s not really usable. I also had 2 of the untradeable versions of this card as I did the Spainish goals objective and then packed him in the community TOTS when I got rid of my onana, so I kind of hate him for that as I couldn’t open any packs until I put one version of him in an SBC! Anyway on with the review so he doesn’t really do very much well at all, he’s slow, weak and has no balance or agility so he’s moves like a truck and can’t push people off the ball. His passing is good but there are loads better CDM’s on that front and he can’t shoot either and 3* WF isn’t ideal either and even with 4* dribbling his acceleration is poor so skill moves are not that usable anyway. However he does redeem himself massively in one way which is interceptions and this is very annoying for opponents. He has high Defensive workrate, great stand tackle and interception stats plus being 6ft3 with seemingly very long legs means he cuts out more passes than anyone else I have ever used. I can’t recommend anyone start him but if you are going to throw him in an icon SBC and are waiting to the end of the month for the futswap icon then he’s useful off the bench to help hold a lead and sit in front of the back 4 and use his go, go gadget legs to break up attacks.
