Player Review
84 - SIF
once i reached 100 matches played with him i feel able to write a review about Wout. i played mostly fut champions matches and he never disappointed me, i builded my team around him and an easy football concept idea: crosses and high passes. in order to make it effective i chose to use a narrow 4-1-2-1-2 pairing him with TIF Poulsen and behind them UEL Rebic (the amount of strength is impressive) the rest of the team was following the same criteria: tall, solid and strong: SBC fer, SBC Vormer/baby Rijkaard, scream Forsberg/baby Seedorf, Dumfries, R. Carlos middle and so on.
About Weghorst: it took me a few games to understand how to play with him, he is not as strong as headliners Zapata but is ten times more elegant than him, he won t win every ground duel as long as he doesn t put his body in the middle.
Every team must have a Weghorst prototype player in it, he would be their king, if you don t know how to get out of from the opponent s attacking pressing it s very easy; long pass to him and he is able to control the ball or head pass it to his partner, afterword some passes in the midfield open the ball on the sides, high cross to him and he will surely out jump any defender (1.97 m, 93 jumping with marksman, 98 heading accuracy) and score.
he doesn t just jump, he flies into the air with extreme class, he is deadly especially from the second post when the cross is high and smooth which means there are no chances for the x defender.
volleys are very good as well, his bicycle kicks are powerful and accurate despite what it seems. chip shots must be remarked, booth volleys ones and normal ones are very effective. Finesse shoot, instead, are not amazing especially from outside the box, anyhow he could shoot an unexpected rocket. 100 games, 98 goals and 40 assist.
his passings are not too bad, sometimes he makes mistakes but for an attacker it's ok; if you control the ball before passing it, it wont be a problem. L1+triangle passes thanks to his long legs - they are very useful just when he has received the ball and the faster attackers of your choice had drew the movement towards the goal.
Having both front man being tall and good at heading, i use to make tons of crosses and sometimes Wout Weghorst had found himself to make some (never from too far away). i can t say he is good at it, however those players who have low rating cross stats are able to make some kind of unpredictable passes which sometimes are even better: of course not from the side lines.
dribbling: he does his job surprisingly good. he can t dribble around players for hours but he s able to resit the charge, turn and pass/shoot.
Tip: doble pass, acceleration, L2. he passes the opponent 90% or gets a foul, once he s among a player and the ball is really difficult to stop his upcoming shoot.
i m not even gonna talk about how good he is at scoring corner, just stun above whoever.
fun fact: in the last ten games i finally managed to complete the Van Basten prime sbc and he played in the total Weghorst s shadow.
conclusion: he s very fun to play because he forces you to play in a specific way. he can reach through balls for example but mostly he needs to turn back and assist someone else (if he is subbed he is strong enough to run himself pushing back the defender). in the box he s deadly and most important he s surprising elegant thanks to his weird body shape; tall and thin.
i suggest you to try him out.
to become useful not only for tall players lovers, he should get one or two more upgrades
