Mathieu Valbuena's 87 card is a solid french midfield card. Yet he doesn't offer too much in terms of presence when playing as a CAM I have found. I have played 8 games with him - 4 as a CAM and 4 as a RM. I have played him in a 4-2-3-1 formation with him as the central CAM, however his small stature and his low composure mean that he is quick to loose possession if any pressure is applied to him. That being said however, I have found using the sniper chemistry style has helped negate this issue to a small extent by increasing his composure up to 80. His stats outside of his physicality and composure are brilliant for the price. His high passing and dribbling stats make him very fun to play with out on the right wing - but his lack of skill moves may be a turn-off to some but I feel his high dribbling stats make up for this. His weak foot poses little in the way of an in-game crutch as I find that he is able to pass and shoot fine with it only being 3 stars.
I have found him most fun to play with when he is situated as a RM in a 4-4-2 formation as he offers himself up for the ball nicely and his dribbling and pace stats (when using an engine) allow him to breeze past defending players or open up space for a pass into the midfield. I would recommend playing him in-game as a RM as his stats are better suited for this position and if he is used as a central CAM he can easily be bullied off of the ball or can make mistakes due to his lower composure.

Mathieu Valbuena in my opinion is a great value card for only 44k. I feel as he's very overlooked due to his 3* skills and 3* weak foot. As a CAM he has great pace, passing and dribbling stats and for 44k in my opinion he is absolutely worth it. His shooting is not the best as he has low finishing and shot power but he does have good long shots. A deadeye chemistry style in my opinion is the way to go as it nearly maxes out his finishing and increases his shot power. I used him in a 4-2-3-1 as a right attacking mid and he is a great dribbler and very rapid. Yes the 3* 3* isn't preferable but he does have some good traits such as the finesse shot and the outside the foot shot which is why I played him at RAM so he can easily shoot across goal. He is in a poor league for links but has a great nation so I would go and do him as he is one of the cheapest flashback cards you'll get.

Do this machine!!!! Hes awesome. got him as cam starter in 4231 with hunter and he destroy all enemies in fut chmapions. 10 games 15 goals 8 assists. hes everywhere between the box and runs into the box if the forward got the ball. if you lose balls hes really aggressive to get the ball back. he scores clinical and his 3* wf doesn´t matters, he scores as equal as his strong foot. did him for about 20k with some untradeables. full sbc prize is 50k. u can play him also as winger. with hunter hes got 99 pace paired with his magical agility hes undefenadble... can also played as super sub, but with his 93 stamina he is a perfect starter, if you can link him.

I've seen a lot of hate on this card, probably because people were expecting Lautaro headliner, or he has 3*/ 3*, but damn he is actually pretty good. If you're looking for a quick CAM who doesn't need to shoot every 10 seconds, go for him.

I have only played 13 games with him (in WL) but I feel like it was enough to give a review.
I've seen a lot of people complain about this SBC , saying it's not worth it, and that nobody asked for this card. I asked for this card ! I absolutely loved watching this guy play for Marseille and for France, I am glad they gave him a nice card at honestly a very reasonable price I'd go as far to say that 45K for a card like him is a bargain.
Cost : Roughly 45 to 50K.

Pace : 89 - Key stats : 89 Acceleration , 89 Sprint Speed
He is pretty quick but not as quick as I thought he would be, despite having both 89 in Acceleration and Sprint Speed, he felt quicker on short distance (Acceleration) and not as quick once fully "launched" (Sprint Speed) but if you use him in the middle he will rapid, on the wing he is quick but not the quickest. 8/10
Shooting : 83 - Key stats : 84 Positioning, 81 Finishing, 87 Longshots
What surprised me the most for sure. He is actually a solid finisher inside the box, has a good longshot on him but his positioning is what really surprised me, he made good runs and always try to get in good positions, his finishing inside the box is great but he can be prone to miss, especially finesse shots. 7/10

One of his best stats, he is an incredible passer on his right foot, his left isn't bad aswell but I mostly used his right foot. His shot passing is perfect and his longballs are very good too, I haven't crossed much with him but the few times I did (ground cross) he found his target. Definitely one of his best attributes. 9/10
Dribbling : 92 - Key stats : 92 Agility , 99 Balance, 92 Dribbling, 92 Ball Controll
His best stats. He absolutely glides on the ball, the ball stick to his feet and his agility/balance combo makes him so hard to tackle without making a foul. And despite being only 3* using Ball roll and , fake shots and heel to heel was enough to dribble past defenders, especially fullbacks. 10/10
Physicals : 68 - Key stats : 93 Stamina, 85 Jumping
Not much to say here, He has great stamina and is able to play full 90, even Extra-time, his jumping didn't come in to use much and when it did, he didn't win any headers. He is very weak and can get pushed off the ball if you sprint (if you're keeping the ball close it's much harder to bully him off without making a foul) 4.5/10 (mostly for his stamina)
Overall Thoughts : 7.6/10 I'll say this, for the price, he is worth doing if you are gonna use him Personally that card has a bit of sentimental value hence the reason I did it, he ended up really surprising me and did a good job in a team surrounded by much better player. He could make a good impact sub.
He honestly felt a lot like Lorenzo Insigne without the 4/4 , short, quick, good passing and dribbling, he felt almost exactly like an Insigne who can shoot and run full 90 His dribbling felt the same, his passing felt better too.
I still fill like Valbuena is better suited out wide, at this point in the game most CAM's have better finishing than him, he'll also won't be bullied as much on the wing and his passing, dribbling and pace makes him a good choice to have out wide especially if you use a formation like the 4231 or 4222
I did him to try him out for a bit but I might honestly just keep him a little longer, he was good enough and I don't feel the need to drop him, he'll play in the next WL , it was fun using him so I'm gonna keep having fun with him

Valbeuna is incredible. Whilst using him as a cam he scored a ton of goals and got even more assists.
Despite the 3* skill moves his insane to get past players using ball rolls and roulette's, left players in his dust.
