I've used all of Maddison's cards up till now. I've liked every one of them. I probably was the only one that actually wanted him to get his tots and, of course, I was disappointed when he didn't receive one. Still, I was delighted to see that he got his moments card, even though it wasn't for actually playing football.
I'll start off with his pace. I used him as a CAM in the 4-2-3-1 formation with Stay forward, get into the box for cross, aggressive interceptions and stick to position. As a CAM, I don't think it would've been necessary to give him a pace boost, but because I didn't know what chemistry style to use else, I used hunter and Maddison felt very fast while dribbling. Of course, he doesn't feel like a Kylian Mbappe but he still felt really fast.
His shooting was incredible. He scored every shot that he got in the box and also scored some outside the box. The only thing Maddison lacked in his shooting was the 5* wf. His shooting with his left foot was good, but nothing near the shooting of my tots Son.
His passing was perfect. All of his passes found his teammates and his free-kicks were perfect. His through balls were awesome, as well as his lofted through balls. All of my players could easily control the ball. His curve was also very good and his finessed shots left nothing to want.
You might not think of this Maddison card to be the best dribbler, but you'd be surprised. With his lean body type and 94 agility, he felt really similar to 87 Leandro Trossard and Shapeshifter Mahrez, whom I used previously to completing the Maddison sbc. Of course, Maddison wasn't as good at dribbling as Trossard and Maddison most definitely isn't Messi, but he still felt really good on the ball. I'd say he dribbles about as good as tots Son with a sniper chemistry style. The only thing you might miss with Maddison's dribbling is the 5* sm. At this point in the game, you might feel like you need a 5* skiller on the CAM position, but I personally didn't really mind.
For me, his low defending didn't matter at all, as I don't defend with my CAM. The only defending stat that I used with Maddison was his heading, which I decided to try. He completely sucks at heading. Don't even try it.
For me, his low physical didn't matter either, as I haven't really played with a lot of physically strong CAM's. Only his stamina mattered to me. With 90 stamina, Maddison could run around until around the 70th minute. I swapped Maddison every game. At this point in the game, you'll probably want 99 stamina. Even though Maddison has only 60 strength, he wasn't easily pushed off the ball. This meant that I could dribble around on the midfield until I saw a free man, without having to worry about losing possession.
If you still wonder if you should complete his sbc, I'd say you should. He isn't expensive at all. For only around 180k I think you have an awesome CAM that is better than both Trossard 87 and Mahrez 89. This WL I lost a lot of games and at one point, my record was 10-8(as a gold 1 player). Maddison carried me though (together with Son) and still secured me the gold 1.
- Pace
- Overall shooting
- Passing/Free kicks
- Dribbling
- No 5* weak foot
- (Perhaps for others) No 5* skill moves
- No 99 stamina I guess
James Maddison seems like a nice guy. I watched him couple times when he did interviews and also shot some free kicks on Soccer AM. I liked his casual style and his technical abilities. I'm not a player that spends money on the game, I have never bought any fifa points and my luck has been quite poor, but recently I have been blessed with Beautiful Heung-Min Sonaldo from Guaranteed PL SBC Pack. But, as we all know it's hard to link the guy if you don't rock a PL team, which I don't. So I was looking for one link from the midfield. Maddison's SBC was out then, and I thought: I'll scrap it out with some untradeables. Guy cost me about 50-70k overall and it was one of my best decisions this FIFA. James "No spine" Maddison with engine chemstyle is exactly what you need in a CAM role. He is quick, shoots really well, has a wonderful pass and dribbling. But the lack of his spine is the best thing about him, and I'm not saying this in a negative way. He literally is the most responsive card in the game for me alongside Neymar, Douglas Costa FUT Birthday and Frenkie TOTY, from what I've used. Maestro of the 3/4 is his name from now on. He is like a Victorinox in the attack: handy and sharp all the time.
- Agility
- Passing
- Dribbling
- Sometimes does not score a sitter, but it's Fifa 20, we all know only Adama on his 2* WF is capable of scoring all the time
He is really good . His dribbling is comparable to Messi . His shooting from outside the box is amazing . His Sbc cost me 100k and the card is definitely worth it.
Everything.
His strength isn't the best in this game
