Hes sick. As a chelsea fan I was always going to buy this card and back him and I was not let down he averages 2 goal involvements a game in div 1/2 and around gold 1 in Champs
I have had this card since the start of the game when he was at his lowest price and I still dont want to sell him even though ill make 300k profit
can finish anything and everything, bound to get more upgrades with chelsea
would go perfect with a play making striker next to him
with a hawk he can score long shots comfortably
and the jumping boost means he is good from goal kicks and scores a decent amount of headers
tbh he scores any times of goals
shooting
4 star weak foot
good agilty
positioning is always unreal
RAPIDO
scores all types of goals, inside the box and out.
3 star skills
not the best at passing - can do simple passes and can bust out an unreal through ball on occasion but not consistently
expensive for most people
for the price you could almost get a neymar who realistically is a lot better
I have other reviews from FIFA 20 if you want to check those out- I'm usually G1/E3, and I normally hang around d2/d1, though I don't play rivals as often.
Anyways, I was lucky enough to pack OTW Werner in my OTW pack.
I have around 30 games with him since I packed him. My consensus is that he's a pretty good card, but there are some major flaws with him. Let's talk about them:
Final Verdict - Would I pay market price for him? No. By the time he even gets one upgrade, more cards will be able to replicate what he gives you on the pitch as the game cycle progresses. Werner isn't unique, nor exceptional. He is pretty damn good though.
His pace is blistering. He will get behind pretty much every defensive line you throw in front of him.
His movement is pretty elite, whether you tell him to go wide or central, he will find gaps in the line. It's actually crazy how open he always is.
His finishing is solid. Not exceptional, but solid.
4* WF
He's can only do the most basic things in build-up play. Like, take a touch and give the ball back to a midfielder kinda thing. This is okay up until a certain division, when you will start needing your strikers to get more involved.
His hold-up play is trash. Even with an engine or artist card, he takes super sloppy touches, and is very slow at getting the ball out of his feet to make a pass. He misses open teammates often. Again, this is okay for a striker until a certain division, where you need them to do more.
His finishing...I listed it as a pro, but there's also a con to it: he has no shooting traits! This is BRUTAL in high divisions because you don't get many chances against some of these defenses and every chance matters. There have been multiple times where if Werner had a "finesse shot" or "outside the foot" shot trait that he'd a scored a hatrrick no problem.
What ends up happening is that you get clear chances, on goal, but sometimes need to take a finesse or need to drive it home because the window to shoot is so short...only for Werner to take some half-assed finesse right at the keeper. It takes his finishing from elite to only good.
Hi guys! This is my first ever Review i am writing plus i am not a native speaker so please excuse if there are some mistakes in the review.
I was lucky enough to pack this guy out of a rare mega pack from the Hybrid Nations sbc which means, i am playing him from the very beginning.
PACE:
His pace is really good. I play him on get in behind and once he is behind the defender he won´t be caught. The 93 pace feels good enough for me, so i am using finisher on him. If you experience any issues with his pace, just slap a hunter or hawk on him and the problem should be solved.
SHOOTING:
Wow! His shooting is class! Inside the box he absolutely clinical, doesnt matter if strong or weak foot, doenst matter if you are running sraight towards the goal or coming from the side, doesnt matter if you are beeing bullied by a defender. Once he is inside the box he bangs them in. I use finesse shot from outside the box a lot and they also mostly hit the back of net, not as clinical as inside the box though.
DRIBBLING:
He is pretty agile and feels smooth whilest turning. Knowing fact that he has only 3* skills, i stick to standrad manouvers such as ball roll and drag back with him. Some people who really like to use skills will not be happy with him.
PASSING:
Here we go with the biggest issue, his passing. I play him next to IF Rashford in a 4-1-2-1-2 narrow. Playing with two strikers, he sometimes needs to play the final pass. If the second striker is right next to you he will be succesful playing the pass. But don´t you dare trying a long pass with him, the chance he will fail is incerdibly high. Just sick to the simple passes.
PHYSICALITY:
Because of his body type and only 72 strength he is not really strong. If the defender is nearby and gets him he probably will get bullied off the ball. But there are moments he is able to push through even against stronger defenders. One of those many situations only EA can explain to us.
DEFENDING:

CONCLUSION:
Is Timo Werner a nice and useable player? YES! Would i recommend buying him for that price? NO! For me playing with two strikers the passing is too big of an issue and i don´t see it getting fixed even wit three more informs. For that price there are other strikers who would fit better in my team. BUT nevertheless i will keep him, because he scores tons of goals with him. I also try to let rashford or de bruyne being the one to play the final assist :)
For people who play with only one striker, I would clearly recommend!
tbf with you guys, don´t be too impressed by the statistics, there are quite a lot of SB included, in which he logically scores more goals.
I used Timo in a tandem with Hee Chan Hwang. There is a clear difference between the two. Compared to Hwang Timo is much more well rounded even though there is weaknesses in his game. I tried to address these weaknesses with engine chemstyle and I would say that it worked.
First thing you will notice is his pace. Yes he is fast but not Mbappe fast but still pace should not be a problem with him. His shooting is also good but not great. He will finish almost all the chances that he should but he doesent find the net from worse goal scoring opportunities.
His off the ball movement is one thing that separates him from other lower rated strikers. If there is a space between defenders he will try to exploit it and make a run. This is something that he does a lot better than Hwang for example.
Dribbling was the biggest surprise for me. It is very decent. Before using him I thought that it might be a problem but no his ball control is good. But he does not have skills so if that is something youre looking for maybe go for Aubameyang?
His passing is ok. Its not good enough to play him on a wing for example but for a hold up play it is good enough. Physicality wise youre not going to bully defenders but again if you are shielding the ball most of the time you have time to pass the ball to your midfielders.
Overall he is very good player but this OTW card is not worth getting if he isint your favorite player or if you are not Chelsea supporter which I am. I recommend just buying his normal gold card. Value for money is much better if you skip this OTW card.
Off the ball movement-very nice will get you a lot of goal scoring opportunities
Pace-very decent defenders cant catch you
Dribbling-good if you are not skiller
Passing-dont play him on a wing
Physicality-you cant "force" your way past defenders
On the face of it, you will immediately say that this is a sick card, but after getting him first owner, he was really average.
I played 5 games with him, and could already tell that he has terrible one-on-one finishing (for me). Makes really bad passes and can't really hold up the ball.
DCL and even Hwang Hee-Chan were better than this card, so if you ask me avoid him at all costs.
I don't have a problem with stamina, but he is woeful value for coins, doesn't change the game at all, and is just not good enough.
Maybe he is good for you, but 5 games and only 2 goals are not acceptable.
Thank you for reading the review.
Really fast.
Gets in behind well.
Dreadful shooting for me.
Can't pass.
Doesn't link up well.
Can't hold up the ball.
After my 5 games in the starting line-up, I played him as a super-sub, and still trash.
