FUTBIN Player Review

FUT Freeze Gnabry

The FUT Freeze SBCs keep piling up and I keep making decisions I will regret in two months when the players are no longer even a consideration.  However, the reward is the opportunity to shine some light on these options with reviews, in hopes that you can make educated decisions on who to complete.  In this case, we take a look at the man once loaned out to West Brom after being deemed not good enough for Arsenal, Serge Gnabry… even typing that feels like it must have occurred in an alternate dimension.  I wonder if he regrets leaving?  But I digress.  I should start off by saying that this CAM FUT Freeze Gnabry is more along the lines of what I would have expected for the gold Gnabry when the game began.  The Pace specifically on the 85 Gnabry sold the German miles short of what he is capable of and it was nice to see this card more in line with what he can produce.  Speaking of production, I should start off by saying that I started this review with Gnabry as the right ST in my 4-4-2 formation… thinking that the CAM related boosts would make him the perfect partner for Freeze Mane, who I was able to bring in this weekend (he is insane by the way, no review coming, just take my word it).   However, after about 5 matches it was clear that Gnabry is still best suited as a wide man and I moved the Bayern speedster out to the right flank for the remainder of the review.  Definitely a decision I would make again if I had my time back, this card is definitely a better winger than anything.  Gnabry was the wide workhorse all weekend in the following squad:

Starting Formation:

In-game Formation:

Overall

Rating: 8.5/10
Pace Rating: 9/10
Dribbling Rating: 9/10
Shooting Rating: 8/10
Passing Rating: 9/10
Physical Rating: 7/10
Defending Rating: N/A

Like I said earlier, Gnabry got off to a slow start this review… both in-game and literally feeling sluggish.  The gameplay was not helping anything of course, but it felt more like the Dribbling was really holding Gnabry back at the start.  I originally went straight for the HUNTER chemistry style but was underwhelmed with the results… until I changed things up and went in the direction of an ENGINE application.  What. A. Difference.  The boost to 95 AGILITY & 99 BALANCE was exactly what this card needed to inject a bit of quickness, while still maintaining the speed from 99 ACCELERATION & 88 SPRINT SPEED.  Everything seemed to tick from this point on and Gnabry really started to contribute to my Weekend League success from then on.

Main Statistic - Passing

Weak Foot: * * * *

I put the 4 STAR WEAK FOOT here as it didn’t matter which flank Gnabry was patrolling, regardless of which foot, he can really whip a ball to the right areas to cause opponents issues.  The ENGINE chemistry style really bolstered the statistics required for proper wing play and Gnabry certainly benefited in the passing department; 96 SHORT PASSING does the job when you are able to beat opponents down the wing and trying to pick out the strikers arriving late into the box; 93 LONG PASSING & 94 CROSSING mean that regardless of where he is on the pitch, Gnabry can spot and pick out passes to switch play or create chances.  Honestly, I was a little shocked that Gnabry only managed 6 assists in 20 matches… with a grand total of 10 in the 30 matches of WL.  It truly felt like he was involved in so much more and really offers creative potential from wide midfield positions.

Main Attribute - Size

Height: 175cm | 5’9
Dribbling Rating: 9/10

While I already mentioned the benefits Gnabry experienced after applying the ENGINE chemistry style.  There was more to it than just the BALANCE and AGILITY boosts.  The 99 DRIBBLING mixed with the smaller player archetype is a nice combination and allowed for some responsive dribbling even in difficult gameplay conditions.  If you watch the video a lot of Gnabry’s success came with his back to goal, followed by a tight turn & quick acceleration.  Similarly, on the wings, it was amazing having a player who could turn away from my opponent's press when receiving the ball at feet out on the flanks.

Value/Coins & Good vs. Bad

Value/Coins Rating: 4/5
Good vs Bad Rating: 4/5

240k. Relatively speaking, this is not actually an unfair price.  The problem comes with the available alternatives.  Like I have said, for me, Gnabry is a wide option and should be played as a RW/RM or LW/LM in-game.  The issue comes when you start looking at options in the 200 - 300k price range and start seeing the likes of Sadio Mane, IF Saint-Maximin, Salah, IF Son & TIF Lozano.  All of which can do a similar job as Gnabry… have many of the same statistics when comparing… and you can get your coins back when they start to underperform at the end of the day.  Tough competition and really starts making you question if it is worth the fodder that you could be saving for future options.  However, I repeat… in terms of price I do think that he is a fair value, the problem again is that it will be a value you can never get back.

One of the main reasons Gnabry was moved out onto the wing was for the fact that his 85 FINISHING does not warrant a more central position.  I realize there will be comments “why didn’t you use a chemistry style to boost his finishing then?” Again I will reiterate that I tried that avenue, and while the finishing was okay… everything else was not, and certainly warranted the change.  But like I have said, while the ENGINE chemistry style sorted out the Pace and Dribbling, it obviously did nothing for the Shooting.  90 SHOT POWER, 86 LONG SHOTS & 85 FINISHING look okay on the surface and they can definitely do a job.  The 21 goals that I did manage with Gnabry are proof of that.  However, it was the chances missed that really started to add up by the end of the review and could not be overlooked in the end.

Closing Words

This is one of those cards that if you are completing it immediately, then you are going to get some good results for a limited time.  I realize that I am heading for one of those closing words that I get some negative feedback on as they appear convoluted.  However, the problem is that Gnabry performed quite well this weekend, hence the 8.5/10.  Honestly, if he had some better Physical statistics, especially his 84 STAMINA on the wing… I would have gone for a 9/10.  The issue with “selling” people on Gnabry is always going to be the new and improved cards on the way, mixed with the current comparisons that I highlighted earlier. This is why I am going to ultimately suggest you skip on this card and save your fodder… unless you are a Bayern, German, or Gnabry fan himself, in which case you have probably already completed the SBC.  Otherwise, I would not be making any massive squad changes to be fitting him in … he is good, but not that good.  I hope that you are all staying safe and healthy.  Happy Holidays.  Cheers for reading.

The best Freeze SBC, without a doubt
By LewanG0ALsky, 18-12-2020

When I first saw him he had really good stats but I expected him to be even more expensive than Wan-Bissaka. But no, at least for me it’s an absolutely amazing price, just look at him, maybe his only con is sprint speed, but that’s all. And he also has a weak link with new Volland, which seems like a really interesting and fun card to use, and it’s obviously free, so why not? I had Douglas Costa RB, so I could link him, and it was quite cheap because I had some fodder like Kane and Oblak. But I wouldn’t recommend you to it as a super sub, because yeah he isn’t that expensive, but 250k it’s quite much for a sub. Unless you are rich or your planning him to use him in the future. AND he also has link with the free Coman, so the ones that did him GG.

High acceleration

Greats shots and a nice 4* wf

His passes are insane

The God of dribbling and really fun

4* skills

Links + Link with Free Coman

And Link with new CB Volland

Fair price

Perfect Work Rates

Maybe Sprint speed quite low

Strength could be better, but 74 is actually decent

Best Freeze SBC so far?
By Quizo101, 18-12-2020

Hi guys! It's me again. You might remember me from the Freeze Bailey SBC. Yes, I am a Bundesliga guy, so as you'd expect, I did this SBC pretty much the moment it came out. He is the card I've been craving for. I played at striker in the 4-2-3-1 formation and he scored 10 goals in 6 games of div 4. So let's get one thing out of the way, in my last review, I said Bailey could possibly be the best bundes striker, but I was so wrong. This Gnabry does everything he does and does it better. So let's dive right into his stats and my opinion on him.

His pace might seem a bit weird at first, with 95 acceleration and 83 sprint speed, but trust me, it's so good. With the hunter chem style, he has 99 acc and 93 ss and it shows. He reaches top speed before most cb's manage to start running after him. I ran past almost every defender you can think of, even RTTF Klostermann. This time however, I came across IF Walker and he was the only one capable of keeping up with him.

His shooting is on another planet. I was praising Bailey's shooting, but he is simply so much better than him. He scores how he wants, when he wants and with both feet. The combination of 95 shot power and finishing (with the hunter) and 84 composure would lead you to believe he doesn't miss and you would be right. Finishes every chance and only missed 2 shots in those 6 games.

This isn't something I was going to write, but you need to know this. When I scored my first 2 goals with him, I thought EA did a Lautaro Martinez by swapping his preferred foot, but no. Those first 2 goals were 30 yard screamers scored with his 4* "weak" foot (which is his left) and I can tell you for a fact it's a lie. Scored 7 of 10 on his left, including a hat-trick. Definitely feels like a 5* wf.

Again, because I played him at striker, I didn't test his passing too much, but he didn't miss a single one and let's be realistic here, his passing looks phenomenal. (apart from fk accuracy, but it's not a deal breaker) . No need for improvement here.

Now comes the best part of the card: dribbling. Boy, oh boy, is his dribbling fantastic. He feels so silky on the ball, much better than Bailey which also had a boost from the finisher. The 90 agility, 92 balance, 89 reactions, 91 in-game dribbling and 87 ball control, combined with god-like acceleration make him feel almost like Messi on the ball and I'm not even kidding. Has so much fun skipping past Van Dijk and Varane. Absolutely no need to improve his dribbling either.

Bad defending and heading accuracy, but you don't buy this card for that. Would've liked more ha, but no complaints here either.

Physicality is pretty good, but not great. Had him on stay forward, so stamina wasn't an issue. Jumping is decent, but again, bad ha. Strength is also decent, doesn't get bodied easily. Aggression is not good and won't fight for the ball.

In conclusion, this has to be one of the best Freeze SBC's and if you can fit him in your team, do it, you won't regret it! Forgot to say, but he makes a very good cam or winger if you don't want to play him at striker, just slap a hunter on him.

The German Ben Yedder -Gamechanger
By Edonidas, 21-12-2020

First of all, I have to say that my first Fifa was in 1998. That's why my playing style is a bit old school. My dribbling consists of slowing down and speeding up. I'm one of those guys that 14-year-olds destroy with their skills. The last Fifa I really played was Fifa 19, after which I decided to invest my time in more meaningful things.

My wife surprised me with a PS5. Of course, I had to buy Fifa 21. Idiot, I know.

Although I haven't played Fifa for the last few years, I always had an Ultimate Team because I was addicted to opening packs like everyone else. In my defence, I have never invested a penny in Fifa Points.

I love the Marquee matchups and got Varane and Kante from them once. So I had over 600,000 coins without ever playing a game and I love the Bundesliga because I live in Germany and the players are always cheaper than in the PL.

When I saw the SBC, I thought I need Gnabry, but I only had 60,000 coins. Then I did the first part of the SBC and, surprise surprise, I got Kante again, so I could finish the SBC.

My journey starts at the end of Division 7 and 2 days later I'm about to move up to Division 3. All thanks to this Gnabry card.

The card in my team makes such a big difference. Gone are the days when I got destroyed with 0:8,1:9 or 0:6.

  • Almost every shot in the penalty area is a goal
  • Gnabry pops up in front in every offensive action
  • His shooting is outstanding, I had at least 5 games where he scored over 5 goals
  • He feels so smooth and agile and is almost unstoppable by opposing defenders
  • Almost all of his passes reach teammates.
  • Even I as an old man, started trying to dribble more because it's so easy with Gnabry
  • For someone like me who plays maybe 10 hours of Fifa a week, a card like this is a GAMECHANGER.
  • With 220 000 Coins the SBC is not cheap, but worth every Coin.

  • he is not very strong
  • maybe his stamina will be a problem in WL games when it goes into the extra time
  • His defence is decent, not outstanding, but we are talking about a CAM or ST
  • Maybe the links, for someone who has no Bundesliga players in his team

FUT FREEZE GNABRY IS GOATED
By hummusplate, 21-12-2020

I was able to do this SBC for less than 200k bc I had some players in my club. An absolute steal for the price!!! He played as a CAM in a 41212(2), with POTM Joao Felix and Red IF Carrasco up top. I played 14 games in Div 2. This Gnabry is a machine. He's lightning with a Hunter, the sprint speed is good and the acceleration is top tier. One of the best things I noticed about this card was his shot power and finishing. This allowed for shots to go in from the most ridiculous angles. His passing is great for a CAM, and his dribbling is very good as well. With his strength being 74, you could even play him at ST, but I found that he was better suited at CAM. His stamina is fine, Gnabry had no problem playing the full 90 minutes. The one downside that I found with this card was his weak foot. Don't get me wrong, it's not terrible, and you will have no problem scoring with his left from close range. However, from range and with finesse shots, it is hit or miss. This is a small downside and was not a major issue. Overall, you've gotta get this guy into your team ASAP!!!

One of my Favorite Cards Ever
By Charlienw, 23-12-2020

I have been using the 4231 and Reus has been my central CAM. He is not a bad card at all, in fact I really like him. But definitely needed an upgrade going forward. I was grinding out objectives so I could save up and get Hagi from Icon swaps cause he had great stats for a central CAM, but was weary about his low/med work rates.

Then from the heavens above, comes this SBC. I am a Bundesliga guy so it fit perfectly and he has pretty much the exact same stats as mid Hagi but with better pace and better work rates (med/high). I cleaned out the high rated players I had saved up for a rainy day and did him. Only spending around 30k to get navas for one of the SBCs.

I used him in the past weekend league and my god, what a fuckin player.

For the first 10 games or so I used a hunter on him, but for a CAM role I honestly thought he was too fast. His shooting stats were already decent so I instead slapped an engine on him, made all the difference in the world. (He was still good with a hunter, but I thought he could be better). With the upgraded passing and dribbling stats, he was untouchable in the midfield. Could get past a player with good control and then play a perfect through ball to Bebou up top. Although his pace was slightly lower, I really did not notice it and the upgraded passing and dribbling certainly was worth it. And for the shooting, hardly noticed a difference. Despite only having 85 finishing he would rarely miss the target and the 90 shot power made him a beast in the box. Not to mention his 4* skills and 4* weak foot, he could shoot or pass from either side of the box no problem.

This is definitely one of my favorite cards to come out of this Fifa and I am sure I will struggle to find a replacement for him. I am sorry to anyone that missed out.

  • Pace: For a CAM, his 99 acceleration in the midfield is crucial on counter attacks and moving the ball forward in general.
  • Shooting: Has great shooting stats and rarely missed the goal. Scoring 29 goals in 30 games for a CAM shows.
  • Dribbling: With an engine, flair trait, and 4* skills, he was a beast. He could keep the ball close and with his acceleration as soon as he beat you, he was gone.
  • Passing: With an engine, despite the free kick accuracy, All of his passing stats are above 93. Hardly and wayward passes, great crossing if he needed to, and some long balls that de bruyne would be jealous of.
  • Defending: Pretty obvious but honestly he poked the ball out from defenders more times then expected.
  • Physicality: Another obvious one, would get bodied if a strong enough player puts in a good tackle, but can stand his ground if its a weaker player.
  • Stamina: Probably the biggest drawback from this card is his stamina. After a full 90 he will already be in the yellow, sometimes I would sub him out but when I didn't he would still make good passes, just could not turn on the afterburners like before.

Easily The Best Freeze SBC
By Yeetzy89, 20-12-2020

Have 200k to spare? Need a player for your team in ANY attacking position? Well my friend, you’re in luck! This card has got to be the best freeze SBC so far, both in terms of value for coins and performance. Like I mentioned earlier, he can play in anywhere in your attack. He is best suited at CAM or RM or even ST in my opinion. I tried him in all three and he excelled each time! His pace is just awesome. Maybe the sprint speed is a little low, but it doesn’t matter since he is off before the defenders even realise. He outpaces top centre backs like Joe Gomez and Varane and once he gets in front of goal, he finishes the job. With a hunter, he has 95 finishing and 95 shot power, but the shot power feels like 99 in game. He shoots so hard the keeper has no time to react and just watches it go in most of the time. He can shoot from decent range and with both fee, as long as he has a clear path to goal. His dribbling is great and he feels very agile in game. Passing is not anything special but definitely does the job but if you play him as a winger or striker he won’t really need it. Strength is low but 74 allows him to hold up for a little longer than many other fast attackers like him. His stamina is also great and will easily allow for him to go a full 90, probably more. Overall, it’s an awesome card to try and is definitely worth the price, if you are planning on doing him, don’t hesitate, do him before he expires.

Serge Gnabry player review
By Jshdhddn, 23-12-2020

Hey guys this is a review bout Gnabry his freeze card. considering his price and his quality: this is a bargain! if you can do him and havent done him yet, then do him rn.

pace: 7.5/10. very quick on his first yards but after 15 yards he becomes very slow.

shooting: 9/10. doesnt miss his chances.

passing: 9.5/10. i used him in a 4222 formation as striker next to mané, as a striker his passing is insane but if you want to use him as a cam i would put an engine on him for the extra passing.

dribbling: 10/10. dont even need to explain.

defending: 3/10. doesnt need to be good

physical: 4/10. wins most duels but also losses tons of them

pace. good on his firsts yards

shooting. finishes everything

passing: good enough

dribbling. his balance feels like if there stood a house on the right side of his nose and one the left side than runs 2 miles the houses wouldnt have moved

price, absolute bargain

physical: losses most duels

Best Card I've used this year
By ClassicClean, 25-03-2021

This card is magic. His dribbling is so silky and smooth and he can finish almsot anything with a hunter. He can play CAM or ST. Ive only used him in a two striker system with get in behind as the instructions. As a CAM i didnt use any instructions and he was still great but didn't score as much.

Amazing Dribbling and Shooting. Great Agility and balance.

Not the fastest but does the trick.
