One a bit out of the blue to wrap up this week's reviews but turned out to be an interesting and enjoyable experience nonetheless. Essentially the look of Trailblazer Mahrez and the success that I have had with his cards in the past was simply too good to pass up, which led to a need to link the now Al Ahli trickster, ending with a need to bring Saeed Al Owairan into the squad for links.
In truth we have been wanting to sprinkle some Hero and ICON reviews into the mix of late… If there are any suggestions moving forward of must try options please put them in the comments below for future consideration.
This weekend however the stage was set for Al Owairan to perform the difficult act of Weekend League dominance. The 4-3-2-1 continues to be the way forward for my squad and after much debate it was a run out at striker for speedster this weekend, however, numerous minutes down the wing followed shortly after half time and the rearranging of my squad. The FINISHER Chemistry Style offered the goal threat and all was set to dive into the fire.
Al Owairan brought back the FIFA 23 nostalgia all weekend long in the following squad:
Overall
Rating: 9/10
It took all of 10 matches to get even close to our 7 match review this weekend and Al Owairan played a massive part in that … The 13 goals and magnet style dribbling played a huge part in my opponents frustration and early decisions to move on to new matches.
Main Statistics – Pace/Dribbling
Pace Rating: 10/10
Dribbling Rating: 9/10
Skills: ★★★★
PlayStyles: Rapid, Quick Step
The two categories go hand in hand to produce everything good that Al Owairan delivers on the pitch. The 92 ACCELERATION & 95 SPRINT SPEED mixed with two boosting PlayStyles in the RAPID and QUICK STEP could be downright unplayable, especially against non-elite defenders.
The literal fear of being done for pace led a lot of my opponents to overplay the wing and simply parted the seas for Al Owairan to waltz into and deliver the killer pass or back breaking finish. In the end this further emphasized how good the dribbling felt and created a ton of opportunities to find space.
Worth noting that when closed down it was simply a matter of leaning into the FINISHER enhanced 93 AGILITY & 85 BALANCE that operated on the surface of the 99 DRIBBLING. All in all this card is simply ONE STAR SKILL away from being the perfect 10/10 and generally felt incredibly responsive on the ball.
Value/Coins
Value/Coins: 4/5
Al Owairan delivered throughout the review and honestly I can’t fault him for much outside of a missed chance or two on his right and some suspect passing at times… The issue in this case comes from the fact that when you search the 400k - 600k price range of all cards you will come to the realization that Al Owairan is the ONLY OUTFIELD CARD in that list to not have a PlayStyle Plus. Furthermore he is the only player with under three total PlayStyles as well. There is an argument to be had that the quality outweighs the omission, but how good would he be if he had more of those devastating options?
Good vs. Bad
Good vs Bad Rating: 5/5
Overall there was an end product to what Al Owairan produced on the ball and he generally rewarded the good play my squad put together throughout the weekend.
+ The FINISHER jacks the 97 FINISHING into a fantastic level and while the 82 SHOT POWER & 82 LONG SHOTS are not the best, Al Owairan found ways to put the ball in the back of the net more often than not.
+ Alongside the pace and finesse is a bit of power too with this card. The 184cm | 6’0 frame might surprise some given the intricacy in the dribble, and the 70 STRENGTH is more than you might expect as well. Some bounced tackles providing excellent second chance opportunities throughout the review.
Honestly the biggest issue is with the PlayStyles, but there were some areas where improved quality could have benefitted Al Owairan’s overall performance.
- Passing again was a fleeting suggestion for this review as the 78 VISION, 81 SHORT PASSING & 78 LONG PASSING generally let Al Owairan down in key moments. The 4 assists are more of a testament to the Pace and byline abuse than genuine passing accuracy.
- Hinted at this already, but the 4 STAR WEAK FOOT felt more like a 3 STAR throughout this review and made the argument for playing Al Owairan on the wing more prominent as the matches progressed.
Closing Words
I will say this… This card is one boosted promo away from absolutely blowing up this game. If that promo should include a PlayStyle Plus addition that involves any form of OP option, it will be curtains for backlines moving forward. At the current stage I might just swerve this card in the short term. The wide range of options in the price point, especially those ICON links, are simply too good at the moment to overlook. In the end there was some fantastic ball control and left-foot finishing and overall a lot of fun to review…just not quite 540k worth for fun.
Hoping you are well. Cheers for reading
