FC 24 TOTS JULIAN ALVAREZ PLAYER REVIEW - COP OR FLOP

Premier League Team of the Season is here! With it comes a fun new twist for the TOTS Promo because we have also got the WSL and Mixed League TOTS in packs alongside the prem guys. So many of these cards look absolutely incredible and are already dirt cheap. I can’t wait to get my hands on these cards.

The SBC section is of course the first section of the game we head to and we have actually been treated to two SBC players today! Arsenal fans are eating good today because alongside the many that are in packs, a TOTS McCabe is available in the SBC section. Alongside her comes a TOTS Julian Alvarez. I remember this guy’s trailblazer card so I am very much looking forward to giving this guy a spin.

This is the third Alvarez item we have been given from Promos and I feel it’s fair to say the previous two haven’t been blessed with Playstyle+s. Which meant that they fell off pretty quickly. This one however comes with 3 Playstyle+s that are much more useful. This card comes with Powershot, First Touch and Chip Shot+ all of which for a striker is near perfect. His powershots are going to be dangerous.

Outside of Playstyles he has also been given a weak foot boost up to 5* and an overall boost of +5 from his UCL card. You can of course play him at CF/ST/RW but honestly I think he is best suited in that Striker role.

Julian jumps straight into the team with Best and Al-Owairan and I knew the speed on these three were going to leave the opposition grasping for air trying to keep up. As for Chemstyle, I think really the only option here is to go with the Hunter. Give some max boost to the Pace and Shooting and this card is nearly perfect.

With a clear absence of Team of the Week players required in this one and only 4 segments to complete. This SBC actually is looking to be decent value coming in at roughly 380k to complete. It’s actually nearly 100k cheaper that the Trailblazer card was at the start of the year. So for me I think this is actually priced really well, considering the amount of fodder in packs and the amount of free packs you can earn. This should be an easy one to complete. But is he worth it?

How did he perform in-game?

+ Seems strange to say but at this stage of the game, low 90 pace seems average but despite this, he felt very quick on the ball.

+ Dribbling was probably my favourite stat behind shooting as he felt incredible making his way around the defence. Mix that in with the first touch playstyle+ and this guy worked some magic with his feet.

+ Shooting all-round was near perfect on this card. Outside the box he was so clinical whether that be finesses, trivelas or using that power shot+. This man can find the back of the net.

+ Positioning was exactly what you want in a shorter striker. He was always finding space to receive low passes that would lead to him being straight through on goal.

/ Physical is a bit of a tough one because he does well to hold his own but due to his body type, he will struggle against those elite defenders such as Van Dijk.

Alvarez - Cop or Flop?

Still wrapping my head around the thought that this SBC is actually much cheaper than his previous SBC. But this card was a hell of a lot of fun to play with. I was worried that perhaps the height/body type would hurt this card in-game but actually he held his own very well and got the job done. 

For me, this is an SBC that whether or not you can fit him into your squad, with the amount of fodder you are going to get playing the game, I would suggest putting that fodder into this card. He plays really well in-game and does not disappoint. Get this card now!
