With the FIFA 23 Web App just around the corner, it is expected the first Team of the Week (TOTW) will drop on the 21^st of September.

A respectable opening side is anticipated with the likes of Son, Immobile and Verratti headlining while Becker, Gakpo and Saliba look set to be early meta.

Jeremias Ledesma - GK - 80 > 83 OVR

6 Saves and clean sheet / 1-0 win against Real Valladolid / 8.6 Match Rating

There are a few keepers who could end up occupying this position with both Ledesma and Sportiello being the main candidates. I have opted for the former with the Argentine’s performance seeing Cadiz pick up their first win of the season.

Pablo Maffeo - RB - 78 > 82 OVR

Goal and clean sheet / 1-0 Win against Almeria / 7.9 Match Rating

Scoring the only goal of the game while also producing a goal-line clearance, Maffeo was the difference during a tight affair between Mallorca and Almeria

William Saliba - CB - 80 > 85 OVR (FEATURED TOTW)

Goal and Cleansheet / 3-0 Win against Brentford / 9/10 Match Rating

Saliba has carried the form he found over at Marseille back to the Premier League with his performances at the back solidifying Arsenal's defence. Another superb performance from the Frenchman this week helped Arsenal return to the top of the PL

Kieran Trippier - RB - 84 > 86 OVR

Penalty won and MOTM / 1-1 draw with Bournemouth / 8 Match Rating

Trippier won the penalty that Isak was then able to dispatch and with limited PLfixtures played this week the majority of matches are likely to receive an IF. Trippier is the only option here.

Heung Min Son - LW - 89 > 90 OVR

Hat trick / 6-2 Win against Leicester City / 9/10 Match Rating

Despite initially being benched, Heung Min Son still stole the show after coming off the bench in the 59th minute to score three times. Thus securing the three points for Tottenham in style.

Teji Savanier - CAM - 81 > 84 OVR

One goal and one assist / 2-1 Win against Strasbourg / 8/10 Match Rating

Often a fan favourite near the end of a FIFA, Savanier potentially starts his campaign off nice and early after contributing to both Montpellier goals this week and claiming an 8/10 from L’equipe for doing so.

Marco Verratti - CM - 87 > 88 OVR

96% Pass accuracy / 1-0 win against Lyon / 8/10 Match Rating

While I have seen a few Messi predictions this week, realistically we won’t be seeing him for one goal. I do feel that a PSG IF is likely though, thus Verratti who was the joint highest rated for PSG is one potential option.

Cody Gakpo - LW - 83 > 85 OVR

One goal and three assists / 4-3 win against Feyenoord / 8/10 Match rating

A seven-goal thriller between two of the big guns in the Eredivisie saw Gakpo, who comes into the new FIFA with a huge +5 from last season's ratings, involved in all four goals. It was a back-and-forth match but the Dutchman was the difference.

Rafa - CAM - 82 > 84 OVR

One goal and one assist / 5-0 win against Maritimo / 8 Match Rating

With both Sporting and Porto dropping points this week it was a huge opportunity for Benfica to increase their grip on the division. They didn’t fail to deliver with a comfortable 5-0 win from which Rafa stood out.

Deulofeu - ST - 80 > 83 OVR

Two assists / 3-1 win against Inter Milan / 7.5 Match Rating

Udinese shocked Inter Milan with a 3-1 home win. A few players could receive the IF and I fully expect Udinese to feature. Deulofeu is my bet after the Spaniard's assists decided the match late on.

Ciro Immobile - ST - 86 > 87 OVR

Two goals and one assist / 4-0 win against Cremonese / 7.5 Match Rating

The Lazio player is a difficult call between both Immobile and SMS but with two goals and one assist, it’s difficult to look away from the Italian here. Somehow Immobile received a downgrade for FIFA 23 but I am sure he will receive multiple specials throughout the game.

Substitutes

Rafal Gikiewicz - GK - 77> 81 OVR

6 Saves and clean sheet / 1-0 Win against Bayern Munich / Bundesliga player of the week

Gikiewicz was a man on a mission this week. The Polish stopper made save after save to maintain the Augsburg clean sheet as they secured a shock win over the reigning champions.

Armando Izzo - RB - 75 > 81 OVR

MOTM Performance / 1-0 Win against Juventus / 7 Match Rating

Monza recorded a shock 1-0 win against Juventus and although they have dropped off in recent seasons it is still a massive result for the newly promoted side. Izzo is the only real option for the IF and should he maintain a gold rating it seems a likely option.

Jonas Hofmann - RM - 81 > 84 OVR

Two goals / 3-0 win against RBL / Perfect 1 Match Rating

RBL continue to struggle this season with Hofmann being the latest player to haunt them. An early brace from the German was enough to set the tone for the match.

Dachi Kamada - CAM - 80 > 83 OVR

One goal and one assist / 3-1 win against Stuttgart / Kicker TOTW

Several low to mid-rated Bundesliga golds put in strong performances this week. Kamada was another with the Japanese midfielder named MOTM for his goal and assist.

Sheraldo Becker - ST - 76 > 81 OVR

One goal and one assist / 2-0 win against Wolfsburg / Kicker TOTW

Likely to be a popular option among starter squads, the speed demon that is Becker was involved in both Union Berlin goals as they climbed to first in the Bundesliga.

Mama Balde - ST - 75 > 81 OVR

Two goals and one assist / 3-1 win against Clermont Foot / 8/10 Match Rating

This one largely depends on Balde coming in as a gold, which I expect to be the case. After being involved in all three goals and receiving an 8 from l’equipe he is in a strong position for week 1.

Borja Iglesias - ST - 81 > 84 OVR

Brace / 2-1 win against Girona / 7.6 rating

Although he didn’t receive the best match rating, Borja Iglesias was still named MOTM and with limited options from the division, his two goals should be enough to secure the Spaniard a spot.
