Ok, this is going to be a weird review. So Hummels was released on the 18 of February 2020. Now this card is easily the most community splitting card after Valbuena. Now the card is being said to be an amazing card after he has amazing defending, great physicality and nice passing for a CB. But he has only 70 pace and has 63 acceleration. Now lets look at the other stats. He has a green link to either FB Neuer, Storyline Akanji, Winter Refresh Schulz, FB Piszczek and if 4-2-3-1 or 4-5-1, etc, Witsel. Now 66 balance and high/med work rates. But going back to the 70 pace thing, while a shadow can knock it up to 82 pace, people are still saying "omg he's so bad don't spend coins on him just get FFS Kabak or 88 Akanji" Pls know 1. while Kabak has more pace, hummels has 28+ stats compared to Kabak and +250 igs than Kabak. He has the best IG stats for a Bundesliga CB. While he has 70 pace, just remember you're ruining the pitch with Pique, who had 72 pace. I'm just saying don't think that 70 pace means he cant fit the meta. If you have read this i hope you've understood this very well.

Ok, i read sooooo many bad comments on him that i really had to think 10 times before i did his SBC.
For now, i can judge him on 12 rival games. just wanted to write this quickly before the sbc is over.
biggest comments all over this card:
HE IS SLOW and useless. NO HE IS NOT ! i use him with Anchor. and in 12 games i did not once have the feeling he is slow or not keeping up.
Also he has high attacking WR. Well, maybe on the paper. But in 12 games he is one of the only CB who was never out of position or somewhere trying to score.
CRAZY PRICE ! NO HE IS CHEAP. For what you get in game he is one of the cheapest cards you can get. (i play him with FS Kehrer who is the 2nd best CB for its price).
i got him for 35k. rest i had as untradebals. and in return i got Reus, Arthur and couple of others for 50k. So i made 15k profit.
What you get:
you get a unbeatable CB. he beams the ball and opponents like a magnet. any attempt to pass him.....fail. he makes no mistakes. he keeps up with any striker. he bullies away any player. he is every where.
His Stamina is great. never tired.
Linkability: He works perfect for me to link TerStegen with him and Kehrer FS.

I had to do this SBC as a dortmund fan and must say i was overall pleased. I did debate for a while whether I should complete the sbc or not, but am happy I went with my gut. As an average fifa player it is easy to see that pace is an important factor even for CBs this year, however, despite my clear bias, I can honestly say this player was well worth his starting spot in my defence. With so many options in bundesliga, (and on my team-see link) I can understand the hesitation to start hummels. However, what he lacks in pace, he makes up for in INTELLIGENT defending. He is a reliable cb, which is displayed this year in Fut game play. Whenever I required his positioning to be accurate, he was there. Whenever I needed him to intercept a through ball or man mark a drifting attacker, he was there. When he was overrun on occasion, he at times made miraculous tackles through the legs of his opponents (with no foul play). I parked my (88) akanji on the bench and started hummels because A) konate made up for what he lacked in strength but more importantly B) hummels provided a great balance to konates beast-like attributes with amazing defensive skills and intelligence. As an added bonus, athough he is more than capable of covering the back his passing is insane. This man sniped my wingers from the back line on multiple occasions. If he is ever pressured by an attacked his strength and great (pique-esque) dribbling abilities and composure were more than enough to ward off opponents. In summation, his dribbling and ball control enables him to ward off even elite attackers, qualities that make up a player with a unique in-game presence and prowess.

- High/Low work rates means he annoyingly pushes up sometimes.
- Although he has good heading accuracy and strength, his jumping is terrible. In a game with already nerfed goal scoring opportunities from headers, he isnt the best when it comes to scoring from up high. He was totally reliable when it came to defending from set pieces tho. On a side note, I never got to try him with anchor but Id be interested to see what that would feel like.
- Finishing... dont think I need to explain this one.
- PACE obviously. Look, the fact of the matter is he isn't the fastest but slap a shadow on him and he can compete. What he doesnt make up for in pace he does in defensive ability, positioning and intelligence. If your really feeling anxious, I personally recommend pairing him with a pacey cb or two (if you are running a 3 at the back formation).
- Hopefully i have convinced you but if not, what the hell you can always just get flashback boateng and win all your games.
Sooooo, potentially controversial but as I am a HUGE Dortmund fan, for me this sort of card is kinda a no brainer that I was going to do this SBC (but still doing this review completely unbias) and play him for hopefully a few more months. This card tore the FIFA community in half and I did him the same hour that I saw he came out. I used a shadow on over an Anchor so that I could get some extra pace because let's be real, we've all played FIFA 20. In the games I have used him in so far he has impressed me a lot, playing better then Lenglet with a Shadow, better then RTTF Diego Carlos with an Anchor and also TOGS Koulibaly(who is a beast) and I've also used Headliners Thiago Silva who was a beast for me but is nothing compared to this FB Mats Hummels. To anyone saying that he doesn't have enough pace, look at Scream Pique SBC, he was one of the CB's on the game up until a TOTY, he has similar pace to this Mats Hummels and he has beasted and feasted on weaker ST's since the start of the game. He catches up to, and pushes off the ball, pretty much every higher paced striker or super sub. And if anyone that you pay against still hasn't realised that crossing isn't very good and he tries to whip a ball into the box then he just bullies any weak or even any strong attacker inside the area and can clear it out with ease. Another HUGE pro onto this all-round exceptional defender is that he has above 90 is both short and long passing and also has 97 reactions with above-average dribbling and ball control for a CB. Even without a chem style that boosts physical his aggression even though it's only 80 is really good and his nearly maxed out strength makes it so that he genuinely does bully-off basically anyone, however, I personally have not come up against any super ST like a TOTY Ron or Mbappe or any sort of Eusebio or R9 bu against the usual really good ST's like Mbappe and Neymar it was almost like they were scared of Hummels and just tried to stay away from him. Overall if you are in need of a phenomenal CB and LB pairing I would highly recommend completing this FB Mats Hummels as well as also potentially buying the new Winter Refresh Nico Schultz to have a very solid back 2.

This Hummels card is a card that first people might think not to do him. But if you didn't, you will regret it . He's got so many 90+ stats in key categories. Composure, Reaction. The whole defending category is filled with 90+ stats. He's go non-meta stamina, but don't mistake that because he's a CB. In my opinion, he's one of the best flashback players that have been released in Fifa 20.

I completed Mats Hummels for around 140k and I am very happy that i did the SBC. He does not have the most pace, but with a shadow card he becomes just like a Tank on steroids. For that price he was a steal! The 90 heading accuracy is correct, with his height he is heading away a lot of crosses and he also pushes a lot of players away with his strength.
