I packed Harvey Barnes out of an 82x25 pack and decided he was the perfect replacement for my p moments Nedved. I'm a div 1 gold 1 player and I love Barnes. He's the fastest player I have used and has that tots boost feeling. He doesn't miss and his high/medium workmates make sure he attacks but I've noticed he defends a lot, even though I have him on balance for defense in my tactics. I am using him at RW but if I used him at ST he for sure would score more goals.
Got him in reds on community tots and used him for 25 games on the prem tots weekend league, also played a game of rivals before that. He helped me secure gold 2 quite confortably with 17 wins in 25 games, where he scored 29 goals and provided 10 assists, playing upfront as a right striker in a 4-2-2-2 formation next to Neres. I used basic chemstyle for the first game but then I switched to finisher because I felt like his low volley rating was going to be a problem.
He really impressed me because the things he does well, he does them very well. His passing can be a game changer at times, his pace and positioning are next level and he is a very agressive and scrappy player. Many times I got tackled and remained with the ball because he has the hidden fight for the badge and sticky trait lol, he also presses well defensively and wins many 50/50 duels.
His shooting most of the time is clinical but he did miss some chances that I felt he should've scored, but thanks to his positioning, pace and passing he creates many chances so overall I was very content with his performance. Feels like he makes him teammates around better, which I appreciate, thats a characteristic of a cracked baller.
Also scored two free kicks with him which is not something that I do often. I think people dont expect him to be a pretty good free kick tacker so they dont cover the near post with a player as much.
So, what my final verdict? I liked him a lot, he improved my team and I think he will improve yours aswell. Even though I enjoyed him as a ST, I think I see him fit better on the wings on higher tier squads since a 5 star weak foot or 5 star skills can be crucial for your main men upfront. As a winger, his excellent pace, passing, positioning, stamina and good shooting and physical presence make him an ideal player to support the frontline with good through balls, crosses and off ball movement.
I also recommend using finisher or hunter to improve his volleys if you play him as a ST, on the wings I would personally use basic chemstyle.
Cool card design and has a face scan (If you care lol);
Elite speed and acceleration, a get in behind monster;
Good shooting inside and out of the box and impressive attacking A.I, his positioning is amazing;
Fantastic short passing and crossing, good long passing, has insane range on his short passes if timed correctly;
Pretty good at free kicks inside 25 meters;
Responsive dribbling, explosive on bridge moves and fake shots, and has the sticky trait, hard to take the ball off him;
Skill moves upgrade from his future stars card was super clutch;
Fights for the badge, feels like a 99 agression player the way he battles on 50/50 balls and recovers/keeps the ball;
Probably wont score headers for you, but he wins headers outside of the box to keep possession for his team (has ok height and jumping and isn't afraid of attacking the ball);
His 76 strenght feel like 80+ because of his height, body type and good dribbling stats, as mentioned before he shields the ball well and can battle CBs when getting in behind;
Fantastic Stamina;
Outside of the foot shot trait and long shot taker trait, both very useful traits;
Good links.
Shooting can be a little bit shaky under pressure, most noticebly on his left foot and on volleys;
66 penalties, can be a problem in pen shootouts in the weekend league;
Lots of good LWs in the game, this card could benefit from being a RW, CF or ST to fit better on most teams;
Doesn't have 5 star skills or a 5 star weak foot, which stops him from being a 10/10 card (he's still awesome though!)
Price his a bit high right now (600-700k range), I think a price between 350-450k would be more fair.
Packed Barness (as the spanish commentators say) in some saved up packs, fits right into my team. I first tried him a ST in 41212(2), he's decent but i felt like his movement wasn't great so i switched to a 4231 and played him as LAM and clearly he's a winger. His pace and dribbling on the side made him go from decent to really really good and his finishing, when he had to, was great. He has a great finesse on the edge of the box.
packed this guy at school on the companion, then packed clarke-harris 5 minutes later. put them in a team and play them both up front in a 4312 and omg. but back to the topic barnes is amazing, his pace feels better than 97 and his 99 acceleration beats any defender. his finishing is truly beautiful for a winger. his dribbling is what i like most about him, he skips away from defenders so easily like a knife through butter. another thing is his stamina, it really helps in champs when you have to play all the way to extra time and beyond.
I got Barnes in my reds an was hella hyped, so put him in my squad and jumped right into div rivals. and i have to say he was really disappointing mostly because his dribbeling and average body type. he doesn't fit my playstyle and the meta. he was really clucky and didn't the way he felt. eventouh he was pretty fast and his shooting was amazing. he is pretty strong and scored a nice header for me.
conclusion: he doesn't fit the meta. that's it call me a meta rat
