88 - FUT Future Stars SBC
So, basically I was waiting for a future stars Gravenberch to be release and he never did, so when this Curtis Jones card showed up, I just knew it would be a good investment, and my not very audacious gut feeling was correct, what a monster. I put a hunter on and use him as a box to box midfielder that joins the attack next to gold Wijnaldum, who stays back. He does just about everything at a good level, and somethings he does at an elite level, overall the major strength of this card is that it doesnt have any weaknesses. A jack of all trades that has fantastic links and is one of the best box to box midfielders in the game, so this is type of card that will fit your team in the long term, which makes his value rise even more.
I only played with him in the weekend league and he racked up 18 goal contributions in 26 games while also playing defense at a very high level, was very pleased with his production. If you dont do him, you might regreat it, BUT IF YOU DO HIM, YOU WON'T REGREAT IT.
Pace- Very fast for a midfielder, can get in behind like a striker, drift out to the wings or run back on defense without ever looking out of place, gets around the field quickly. I would give him a 10/10 if he had 87 pace or more, but honestly its still amazing for a midfielder.
Shooting- I used him with a hunter and honestly his shooting is good enough to play upfront, thats how great it is. Im not a long shot guy so I didnt test that, but looking at his stats for sure he would deliver as well as anyone in those situations. The 4 star week foot feels good, I never felt I had to worry about what foot I was shooting with. Very solid, consistent, accurate and powerful shots, probably also thanks to his 84 composure.
Passing- His passing is perfect, even his crosses felt solid. Has fantastic range, so if one of your strikers or wingers is making a run, you can deliver some crazy accurate long range passes with him, or just tiki taka your way into the box.
Dribbling- Great dribbling for a 6'1 player, doesn't feel clunky, but also doesn't feel like a Dembele or a Neymar. More than good enough for a midfielder, he can create his own chances with the 4 star skills, which is awesome, makes him very versatile. So even though its not elite, its good, wont ever cause you problems.
Defense- Like I said, I use him with a Hunter, but even with only his base 81 def and go foward instructions, he wasn't slacking on the defensive end. His mobility, strenght and size partnered with the high/high workrates make him a very hard opponent to go around, as his standing tackles feel great, his interceptions are surprisingly good, and his positioning was very good considering his instructions. Overall his defense is very good for a box to box midfielder, but I would imagine it would be even better with a shadow and stay back instructions. I think his pace, agility and size are the key factors that make him feel so good defensively.
Physical- Because of his size, his 82 strength feel more like 85 strength, he can shield the ball very well and body most players on the pitch. His jumping allows you to win most of aerial battles in the midfield, but dont expect him to be a threat in the box, CBs will still beat him in the air so he shouldn't be your primary target from corners or crosses. That being said, his jumping is still fantastic defensively.
Links- CM, English, Premier League, Liverpool. What more do I need to say? You can link him with a lot of META players, like Rashford, Mane, Gomez, Walker, etc. This means he is easy to plug in your team, even in the long term. As your team evolve and you move pieces around, it will still be easy to keep him around on 10 chem.
Price- Not expensive at all. Considering this card was released when the 81+ repeatable sbc was active, fodder was abundant. Personally I did him for around 50k, which is nothing for the player you are getting. Even for his 400k pricetag I think he is worth it tbh.
His stamina isn't as good as it looks, he was always the player that was the most tired in my team, so I usually sub him out around the 65/75th minute.
90 stam looks fantastic but since I play him has a very agressive box to box midfielder, he runs a lot of miles during the match, an absolute worker that will recover the ball one minute and score in the next. Unfortunately this means he can only deliver at his fullest potential for around 70 minutes, so have a good supersub ready to come on around that mark. If you play him as a stay back midfielder he can probably handle de 90 minutes, but that would be a waste, even when not playing the full match this guy is a difference maker, a catalyst on both ends.
