FC 24 91 Fantasy FC Sonia Bompastor Player Review

Team 2 came flying into packs this Friday and Fantasy FC is now officially in full swing… However, as if by design it was near impossible yet again to get hands on any of the popular options and we were made to wait.  In an attempt to fill that gap we jumped at the next best thing, a trial run of the French left back turned midfielder in my squad… Sonia Bompastor.

I mention the Fantasy FC promo being in full swing and it is worth noting how successful the Fantasy Cup has felt in terms of rewards for time played.  One of the few game modes where you can seriously see your time turning into potential team changing rewards, especially those who will take on the grueling task of a Ginola grind.

From a player standpoint the dynamic nature of these cards, mixed with the higher tiered options being extremely rare, has caused some issues in attempting to test drive any of the best options.  However, with Bompastor the hope would be that one has snuck under the radar, especially when you look at the French Hero from a midfield perspective.  The hope was that Bompastor could patrol the more defensive box to box CM in my 4-3-2-1 formation and that the HUNTER Chemistry Style might contribute some much needed goal variety.

Bompastor truly was the midfield maestro all weekend long in the following squad:

Overall

Rating: 9.5/10

This review honestly felt like one of those right time, right place type of stories as Sonia Bompastor was certainly not a card on our radar to review at all.  As a last resort review I am not entirely sure there is any way this could have gone any better.  10 - 0 in qualis and primed to jump into the Weekend League madness, Bompastor proved to be one of the missing pieces I have been searching for in my squad for some time.  When you actually take a minute to look at the statistics and realize that Bompastor is in the top 10 overall for total in-game statistics, it is no wonder that the French wingback proved the perfect mix of pace, power, & precision required to boss the midfield, regardless of opponent.

Main Statistics – Defensive Cover

Pace Rating: 10/10

Defending Rating: 10/10

Physical Rating: 8/10

PlayStyles: Relentless Plus, Anticipate, Press Proven

Part of what I have been looking for in my left sided box to box midfielder is a left footed, defensively capable card that can chip in with the odd goal.  The HUNTER Chemistry Style seemed like the best way to deliver on this and overall it was a solid choice.  The 99 ACCELERATION & 99 SPRINT SPEED on a MOSTLY EXPLOSIVE AcceleRATE was lighting in a bottle and once released was insanely fast.  Even the QUICK STEP PlayStyle came in handy defensively when breaking down the opponents press as well.

From there it was a defensive masterclass as Bompastor broke up attack after attack, and in the end proved to be the best anti-Sawa card I have used.  The ANTICIPATE PlayStyle is highly sought after, and then you add the 92 INTERCEPTIONS & 92 STANDING TACKLE, and in the end you have a blazing quick defensive specialist that would rival the Kante cards of old.

Obviously standing at 163cm | 5’4 there are going to be some Physical issues, especially in the air.  However, given the crossing-back-post style goals it was actually nice to have Davies at left back and Bompastor more central.  Yet, the PRESS PROVEN PlayStyle did shine in keeping the ball from would-be jammy attackers trying to immediately win it back… The 70 STRENGTH providing just enough bounce out of tackles to keep possession and move it on in a positive direction.

Value/Coins

Value/Coins: 5/5

I mentioned the top 10 in in game statistics and for only 1.4 million… I say “only” considering some of the ridiculous prices currently floating around OP cards.  Then you consider the possible +2 upgrades and you could be staring at a 90+ in everything but Physical, top 5 in game statistics card.  The potential for those upgrades looks solid but even as is, this card is incredible.

Good vs. Bad

Good vs Bad Rating: 5/5

I wanted some goal contributions from midfield and that is exactly what Bompastor delivered… 7 goals and 3 assists across 5 matches is an incredible return rate and really could have been more with some more clinical finishing from my strikers.

+ The QUICK STEP PlayStyle does open up a lot of Shooting/Passing chances and Bompastor has the skill sets to turn into quality chances.  The WHIPPED PASS Plus and INCISIVE PASS offering two distinctly different yet potent chance creation avenues to utilize.  Of course all accompanied by 88 VISION, 91 CROSSING,92 SHORT PASSING & 85 LONG PASSING.  If you don’t like my HUNTER selection you should look at what the CATALYST does… Impressive doesn’t quite sum it up.

+ But for me the HUNTER was perfect and the 7 goals felt like vindication of that choice… The 99 SHOT POWER & 93 FINISHING connecting to the 4 STAR WEAK FOOT and producing some quality finishes across the review.

+ Yet there was still one area I would hold above the dogged defensive and attacking arsenal… The Dribbling.  The Dribbling on this card is up there with the best I have used and rivals the silky precision and responsive movement of TOTY Kerr.  89 AGILITY, 88 BALANCE, & 91 DRIBBLING all combining into one incredibly fun package, causing issues across the pitch whether escaping the challenges of the press, or delivering the final ball into space.

Closing Words

I had fun with this review.  Genuine, “I can’t believe this review fell into my lap” fun.  As a left back I can imagine that Bompastor is a nightmare to attack against (excluding back post crosses) and equally offers her own whipped cross danger for opponents to deal with.  Yet as a midfielder this card delivered an engine that I have been looking for in both defense and attack… contributing up and down the pitch with the 96 STAMINA and RELENTLESS Plus battery to keep it going across 90 minutes.  Overall you can’t ask for much more beyond the hope of +2 upgrades and a now even scarier looking card to come up against.  100% recommend, regardless of where you play her, a dominating card.

Hoping you are well.  Cheers for reading
