FC 24 91 UT Birthday Gheorghe Hagi Player Review - Cop or Flop

A nice drop of content today as a Mini-Release hits packs. A few decent cards there with Casemiro leading the front but what has caught most peoples eye is that brand new Evo that has dropped! I for one have an Inform Gabriel that has been waiting for an Evo but there are also many great options available.

In the SBC section for today of course we have been expecting a Hagi SBC and I'll be honest, I wasn’t expecting much of this card but at first glance this item looks incredible!

Now previous versions of this card have had some “ok” playstyles. The base has powershot which is useful whereas the two dynasties items had either Flair or Chip Shot, depending on which version you have. But this item comes with both Finesse and Dead Ball. Now that has peaked my interest because alongside the new playstyles this card has gone from being 4*/4* to 5*/5* and on top of that the actual stat upgrades are also really impressive. +18 defending, +13 Physical which sure isn’t that important for a CAM but is still welcomed nonetheless. Finally a +5 to pace alongside +1s to the other stats. A really good boost on this card.

Hagi slots straight into the middle of the team ready to assist Mbappe, Hemp and Best. But I knew that finesse shot was going to steal the show. Usually I would have used the likes of Claudia Pina in this spot and I felt like this was going to be the perfect replacement.

My chemstyle of choice was the Hawk however the favoured option is actually the Hunter. I don’t feel that the pace and shooting needed that much of a boost so opted to also bolster the physical stats to allow Hagi to hold his own against defenders.

To be honest this SBC is in my opinion really well priced. The community however don’t seem so certain as we see a current 66% upvote on this SBC. I think that people are so used to Hagi not being a usable option in this game that they may be looking past this one. The playstyles are great and the stats are near perfect for a CAM. This is reasonably valued in my opinion as it comes in just shy of 530k.

How did he perform in-game?

+ Shooting on this card was incredibly impressive due to that Finesse Shot playstyle+. He just could not miss his mark and made these goals look easy.

+ Passing was the standout attribute for me. No matter what kind of pass, this man had eagle vision and found his teammates no matter what, setting up some very clean goals.

+ Dribbling is also really good as he possesses the Technical playstyle also, so weaving around the defenders was absolute lightwork.

+ Positioning also a good trait as the high attacking work rates had him involved in putting high pressure on defenders and finding the perfect position to create chances for his teammates.

+ Pace for a CAM was also exceptional as he moved around on the ball at a good pace.

Hagi - Cop or Flop?

I was not expecting to be a huge fan of this card but after playing with him I am now in the mindset of him being one of my starting players, he was that good. He’s got absolutely everything you could want in a CAM and having both Dead Ball and Finesse Shot plus is just an absolute bonus for me because this guy is guaranteed goals. 

We have so much time to pick this one up but this might be one of the few SBCs that I say go out and complete it right now. I feel this card will be more popular once more and more players can see what he is capable of.
