FUTTIES Kai Havertz Review

The Futties SBC opportunities are on the rise and this weekend we had the opportunity to look at two such options… If you have already read my Luis Díaz review then you will know that the Liverpool man had some shining moments at striker, but would be better suited as a winger or LAM/RAM in your given formations.  Next on the list was none other than Kai Havertz who joined the growing list of improved Chelsea options with this promo… As a side note, while I completed both Mount and James… I wish I had stopped at James alone.  It may have only cost me about 20 minutes to finish off Mount, but that is 20 minutes I will never get back.  Perhaps the fodder was worth it?  But the card certainly was not.  In fact if you look at the squad for this review, I originally had Futties Mount in the place of PIM Lothar Matthäus.  I used Mount as the box to box in my squad for two matches before it was evident it simply would not work and had to make the change.  With one Chelsea man out of the squad it was back to business and a full look at Kai Havertz, who I tested as a LAM/RAM, box to box CM and as a striker in my 4-2-2-2 formation.  I also bounced between the HAWK and ENGINE chemistry style, coming to the conclusion that the ENGINE gives the German a better feel overall.  With everything finally settled Havertz was the German tank all weekend long in the following squad:

Starting Formation:

In-game Formation:

Overall

Rating: 7.5/10
Pace Rating: 7/10
Dribbling Rating: 7/10
Shooting Rating: 9/10
Passing Rating: 9/10
Physical Rating: 9/10
Defending Rating: N/A

Liability.  It is a harsh word for a card that does have upsides to benefit from… But it is ultimately how I felt using Havertz throughout this review.  Similar to Mason Mount, Havertz simply isn’t at the level of what opponents are currently throwing at you, but in this case I couldn’t make changes and simply had to ride it out.  I found myself trying different positions and different chemistry styles with minimal difference in the results.  The card is definitely usable and I could see Chelsea supporters getting enjoyment from this card… and in fact I have witnessed it in various streams and reviews, but the truth will always remain that they could be getting more out of different options currently available in this price range.

Main Statistics - Physical

Physical Rating: 9/10
Height: 188cm | 6’2

The size and feel of this card is what immediately sank this review.  It doesn’t take many touches or turns to realize that this card is clunky and borderline slow.  But the more I started to lean into the fact that Havertz was a bigger card the better this review started to go.  With his massive frame and 86 STRENGTH it takes a concerted effort to dispossess this card.  I added COME BACK ON DEFENCE to the instructions leading to Havertz being the main outlet for my transitional play and immediately I started to like this card more and more.  Watching challenges bounce off before turning up field and playing through the lines brought more satisfaction than it should have.  Additionally I benefitted in front of goal from similar scenarios and gained an appreciation for what this card can offer.

Main Attribute - 5 STAR WEAK FOOT

Shooting Rating: 9/10
Passing Rating: 9/10
Weak Foot: ★★★★★
Traits: Outside Foot, Finesse Shot

Similar story to Díaz with this card, but a different author.  With 17 goals in 15 matches it is clear that Havertz has benefits in front of goal.  94 FINISHING, 93 SHOT POWER, & 94 LONG SHOTS seem almost commonplace at this stage in the game and performed wonderfully when used on Havertz wand of a left foot.  The right was a different story and certainly fell short of the 5 STAR claim.  This trend carried over to the passing department where Havertz demonstrated his 99 SHORT & LONG PASSING brilliantly on his left foot to the tune of 7 assists, which would have only increased with similar class on his right.

Value/Coins & Good vs. Bad

Value/Coins Rating: 3/5
Good vs Bad Rating: 3/5

61k.  Not the price of this card, but the price of the cheapest 94 fodder and what I would pay again for this card.  I am not saying this to be edgy or harsh, but because  there are endless cards for cheaper cost that can produce what Havertz did for me this weekend.  It would be a waste of fodder to convince yourself otherwise.

I think we would all agree that dribbling was always going to be the Achilles heel of this card.  No surprise there.  But the lack of really any pace did catch me off guard.  I truly felt an increased benefit from the ENGINE chemistry style with the 99 AGILITY & 99 BALANCE, but nothing seemed to bolster the ACCELERATION or SPRINT SPEED.  There are bigger cards that still cause issues in this department and was the biggest letdown for me during the review.

Closing Words

I would say you should complete this card if you are a Chelsea supporter… But the majority already have and will certainly argue some of my findings in the comments.  For neutrals I would recommend saving the fodder for other endeavors and simply dodge the bullet on this one.  I called this card the German tank and his left foot certainly has the firepower to back that statement up.  Unfortunately his body type and maneuverability match the description a little too literally as well.  Hoping you are safe and well.  Cheers for reading.
