FIFA 23 FUT Moments: New Single Player Mode Explained

With the countdown to FIFA 23 entering the final stages, FUT Ratings getting announced, the FUT 23 Web App launching on Sep 21, and excitement building, it’s time to dive into FUT Moments, the new single-player mode coming to FIFA Ultimate Team this year.

FUT Moments looks to capitalise on the single-player element of FIFA Ultimate Team, providing a shorter, bitesize match experience than other modes that players can quickly jump in and out of, earning rewards along the way.

What Is FUT Moments?

FUT Moments is a brand-new, single-player mode making its debut in FUT 23.

This mode will provide players with the opportunity to play small, bitesize scenarios within a match, with objectives to complete in a specified time, to earn FUT Stars.

What are FUT Stars?

FUT Stars are a new currency being introduced into FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, and can only be earned through the FUT Moments game mode.

Upon completion of a FUT Moments challenge for the first time, you will be able to earn up to 3 FUT Stars, depending on the reward level and difficulty of the scenario.

You can also earn bonus FUT Stars from completing all FUT Moments within a Chapter, more on this later.

FUT Stars can then be redeemed in the FUT Star Gallery for a variety of rewards, all of which will be revealed at launch.

How do FUT Moments Work?

FUT Moments are comprised of different Stories, themed around a variety of FUT-related or real-world footballing events. Within each Story, you will have multiple Chapters, which are comprised of a selection of individual FUT Moments Scenarios.

Stories

When you enter FUT Moments from the FUT menu, you will be asked to select a Story to start.

 

FUT Moments Stories can be based around several different themes, be it specific FUT Campaigns such as Ones To Watch, seasonal themes or real-world footballing events.

EA have stated that some Stories will be available for the duration of the FUT 23, whereas some may have time limits, such as FUT Campaign-related Stories.

Chapters

When you have selected a Story, you’ll be able to view the different Chapters you’ll have to complete.

Chapters are groups of FUT Moments scenarios, which you can play and earn rewards for individually.

There will always be at least one Chapter unlocked when you enter a Story, however, some Chapters may be locked, like in the Rise of Mbappé example above, meaning you’ll have to collect FUT Stars from available Chapters to unlock them.

Upon completion of all FUT Moments within a Chapter, you’ll also receive a bonus group reward of FUT Stars, which can be redeemed for rewards in the FUT Stars Gallery.

Moments

Moments are the individual scenarios you’ll play within each Chapter and are comprised of several challenges, requirements & rewards.

When selecting a FUT Moment to complete, you’ll be presented with the following information.

• The Moment description & challenges to complete. Moments will have between 1 and 3 total challenges to complete within the specified time.

• The difficulty level. Selecting a higher difficulty level will grant you more stars, however, you’ll face more difficult Squad Requirements, time constraints & CPU AI difficulty.

• Squad Requirements. For certain FUT Moments themed around various events, players or promotions, you may be asked to use specific players, and numbers of players from certain nationalities or leagues, with chemistry requirements & maximum squad ratings, also included.

• Modifiers. These will outline the CPU AI opposition you’ll be facing in the Moment and can be altered depending on the difficulty.

FUT Moments Gameplay

So you’ve selected the FUT Moment that you’ll be playing, lets run through how this new single-player experience will pan out in-game.

When loading into the FUT Moment challenge, you’ll start from a set point, be it a goal-kick or other set pieces, or in the middle of an attacking/defending scenario.

In the top right-hand corner of the screen, you’ll be able to view:

• The time remaining in the FUT Moment

• The challenges remaining

• Progress towards challenges with a checklist, and a check box when you’ve completed individual challenges.

It’s then up to you to complete the challenges in the specified time.

If you fail to complete the challenges within the specified time, you’re free to try again as many times as you like.

Once you’ve completed a FUT Moment, you can replay it at any time, however you can only earn the FUT Star reward once.

FUT Star Gallery - How To Spend FUT Stars

So you’ve completed several FUT Moments, some Chapters, maybe even an entire Story, and obtained your FUT Stars, where do you go and spend them?

The FUT Star Gallery is the store where you’ll be able to exchange your FUT stars for a variety of rewards, some of which will be available all year round, some for just a limited time.

The Star Gallery is accessible in the menu above, on the left-hand side, identified by the FUT Moments themed pack design, the gold card image & the FUT Stars currency.

Within the FUT Stars Gallery, you may have different groups of rewards to choose from, that may be themed around some of the different FUT Moments campaigns that are currently active.

For example, in the Rise of Mbappe Story, a loan Kylian Mbappé is made available as he’s required in some of the Moments Objectives. It’s finally worth mentioning, that Player Contracts are not used in FUT Moments, meaning loans can be used without removing the total remaining games.
