Adding to that, his defensive abilities were far better than any other fullback. Amazing on the ball as well and so versatile that he could play RB/LB and CDM on world-class level.

ikr, he got -1 finishing but also gained in stats such as ball control, dribbling and he even got better in strength (+2) and jumping (+7!!!) which, if anything, should make his card even better.

As a Liverpool supporter (since 2003) : He was really good back in the day, great physical abilities which made him a decent defender but specially going forward he was outstanding for fullbacks at the time, which were meant to be playing way more defensive than we know it today.

Did you watch his AS Roma or Fulham days by any chance? Cuz at Liverpool he most definitely IS a hero and rightly so.

With that being said tho, I wouldnt have him down as a 87-rated player to be perfectly honest with you. I'd say 84-85 would be fair.

Compare him to his first IF from Fifa 23 (who has similar stats but the passing stats are a bit worse) and you will notice that the IF was 82-rated on CM position. Maybe add 1 rating point for his hype and 83 makes kinda sense.
