Ligue 1 Team of the Season So Far Prediction

Ligue 1 seriously struggles to keep onto their talent and that is clearer than ever with a rather mediocre TOTSSF side. With the future of Mbappe now confirmed this could be the final season fans are in anticipation for the Ligue 1 TOTS. Donnarumma, Dembele and Hakimi also stand out.

Gianluigi Donnarumma - GK - 87 > 95 OVR

After his Euro 2021 performance, everyone knew just how good Donnarumma could be. Since then his performances have dipped. This season however the Italian stopper looks to be back at his best. Putting in several top-tier performances for PSG this season he has helped towards only conceding 15 from 23 matches so far this season.

Achraf Hakimi - RB - 84 > 92 OVR

Although Hakimi has been somewhat limited in game time this season he has still featured in 17 of PSG’s 23 matches which for me is more than enough for these sides. With three goals and four assists his contributions during that time have been fantastic. It’s clear to see why he has the consensus of one of the best RB’s in the world.

Marquinhos - CB - 87 > 95 OVR

Marquinhos has been a staple of Ligue 1 for the past decade and has featured in the last seven TOTS sides. The Brazilian will inevitably make that eight after another convincing season for the Brazilian. He is still only 29 years of age so we will likely have several more of these still to come. A real PSG icon.

Jean-Clair Todibo - CB 79 > 92 OVR

After seeing PSG’s defensive record you would fully expect that to be the best in the division but it is Nice who hold that record, conceding only fifteen goals so far. Todibo has played a huge role in that, commanding from the back and leading the backline superbly. As is often the case with Ligue 1 players his performances have gained significant interest from the PL.

Lucas Hernandez - LB - 84 > 92 OVR

Lucas Hernandez is now following his brothers footsteps with PSG converting the Frenchman to LB. Lucas has made the switch well and makes playing there look natural despite a lack of pace. It's very rare to see both brothers at the top of the game, especially in the same position but both Hernandez’s have excelled during the 2023/24 campaign.

Ousmane Dembele - RW - 86 > 93 OVR

A slightly rogue shout now but with Dembele leading the assist charts I feel that EA will easily justify it with Ousmane being an in-demand player and someone who would sell packs. That being said there have been moments from which Dembele has been phenomenal. Should his form continue into the second half of the season, everyone may agree on the Frenchman’s inclusion.

Vitinha - CM - 80 > 92 OVR

With no more Verratti for PSG, there was always going to be a void to fill. Vitinha has stepped up well and made that CM role his own this season. At just 24 years of age, it's a position he could hold down for multiple years should he want to. The Portuguese midfielder has impressed throughout while having five goals and two assists so far.

Pierre Lees-Melou - CM - 76 > 92 OVR

Not a name you would have expected to make this side before the season with Lees-Melou playing his trade in Ligue 1 for the past seven seasons while failing to pick up any performance-based cards in six of those. The Frenchman is playing on a different level for Brest this season though and has easily been among the best players in the division, especially when you take PSG out of the equation.

Romain Del Castillo - RW - 73 > 93 OVR

What a season it has been for both Brest and Del Castillo. The French outlet have surprised everyone so far, currently sitting in second place. Several of their players have shone but Del Castillo has arguably been their main man. With both five goals and five assists he has been their main source of attacking returns.

Jonathan David - ST - 81 > 92 OVR

Scoring a third of Lille’s goals this season David has played a vital role during their season thus far. Sitting joint second for highest goals in the division with eleven. The Canadian is receiving major interest from the Premier League with both Arsenal and Manchester United declaring interest. I would expect a move to probably Arsenal to happen over the summer.

Kylian Mbappe - ST - 91 > 96 OVR

Mbappe’s time at PSG has been controversial at times but the Frenchmans performances have always been among the best in the world. With Real Madrid now confirmed for the summer it will be Mbappe’s final season for the French giants. With 21 goals in 22 games so far during Ligue 1 he looks set to leave with one final title and golden boot for PSG.

Marcin Bulka - GK - 73 > 92 OVR

To win POTM as a keeper you have to be playing out of this world. That is what Bulka managed and the Polish stopper has continued his form, only conceding fifteen times in twenty-two games so far. I don’t think you can argue against this inclusion with both keepers being seemingly straightforward inclusions.

Bradley Locko - LB - 72 > 90 OVR

The final of the three Brest players making this side is Locko. The 21-year-old LB has been making strides in Ligue 1 this season. While not your current era fullback providing attacking contributions every other game Locko’s defensive ability shines. Which at such a young age is pretty impressive. West Ham are heavily linked with the youngsters' signing.

Teji Savanier - CM - 80 > 90 OVR

Savanier has ended up with a 90+ rated card during four of the last five seasons so it comes as no surprise that he looks set to make yet another promotional side. Savanier has been Montpellier’s main man for a few seasons now and this is no different. Despite struggling in the league Savanier has an impressive five goals and five assists from CM.

Alexandr Golovin - CAM - 79 > 90 OVR

EA already noticed Golovin’s early form in Ligue 1, awarding the Russian a trailblazer promotional card. While Golovin has not set the league alight I feel if the side was decided now he has done enough to sneak in. With six goals and four assists, he has been an ever-present part of the Monaco attack.

Benjamin Bourigeaud - CM - 81 > 90 OVR

Bourigeaud has played just about everywhere for Rennes this campaign but with the majority of his matches being from the CM position that is inevitably where he would be included. The Frenchman has recorded six goals and two assists while filling in whether required.

Wissam Ben Yedder - ST - 83 > 91 OVR

The hype just hasn’t been there for Wissam Ben Yedder this year with the Frenchman historically being one of the more popular players in the game. That hype could be revived with a TOTS upgrade. At the halfway point that looks possible with eleven goals to the forwards name so far.

Alexandre Lacazette - ST - 83 > 91 OVR

Lyon have had a hard time scoring this season with only 23 from their opening 22 matches. This poor form in front of goal has seen them struggle and as a result, currently sit down in 11th. Lacazette has eleven of those twenty-three goals so without him they could have been in serious danger.
