FC 24 91 UT Birthday Aurelin Tchouameni Player Review- Cop or Flop

It is week number two of the Ultimate Birthday promo and we have had a huge amount of content dropped with a lot to unpack. Team 2 is looking pretty good with a Striker Mo Salah leading the team amongst a great bunch of Ultimate Birthday items. As well as of course a second team of Ultimate Birthday Icons that presents Pele as the star man. 

But of course we are here to look at the SBC section and we have two massive french SBCs available to us. The first being a Team of the Year icon Ribery SBC. I was not expecting to see that dropping at all and I am looking forward to crafting that SBC over time. The second card that we are here to talk about today is 91 rated Tchouameni SBC and this card looks unreal.

A pretty big upgrade here as Tchouameni gets his very first special card this year. A +7 on his base card with two playstyle pluses in the Bruiser and Intercept playstyles. On top of that this card has been boosted from a 3*/3* to a 4*/5* Skill Moves and Weak Foot.

As mentioned this card has also received a +7 overall which contains a +14 to his pace, +15 to the shooting, +10 to the defending and +7/8s to his passing, dribbling and physical. A massive upgrade here and off the rip I can see 10 segments to complete this SBC so I know it’s not going to be cheap.

Tchouameni drops straight into the Midfield alongside Pina and Beckham with the Fantasy Mendy following close behind to back him up on the left side. I knew that with the physical and defending stats along with high defensive work rates, this card was going to do the business in defence for this squad.

For Chemstyle it’s got to either be the Anchor or the Engine for me. I have opted for the anchor as I wanted to play this guy mostyle as a CDM so maxing out those key defensive stats was important. But if you feel like using him more as a box-to-box midfielder then go with the engine to boost the passing and dribbling.

A lot to unpack there.. This SBC is coming in just shy of 1.7 million coins. So it’s fair to say this one is far from cheap. Is all the upgrades worth this? You have to bare in mind that this SBC has a duration of 14 days. There are Icon SBCs with less segments and more time to complete. So this one will require a quick turn around of fodder so might be hard to justify pulling the trigger.

How did he perform in-game?

+ Physicality was really impressive. I thought the strength was going to be in the high 90s with the way he performed as he took no prisoners when fighting for the ball.

+ Pace, especially for a CDM is really nice too. He’s quick to rush in for the ball and tracks back really fast to protect the team against counter attacks.

+ Defending was by far the best attribute to this card. Mixed with the intercept playstyle, this guy put a stop to every single play in his path and put himself in the perfect position every time to make those key tackles that all of a sudden gives you a great chance at a counter.

+ Passing, specifically the long passing for me was also really good. As I just mentioned he’ll get involved to recover the ball and all of a sudden he pings one long through ball to the attack that sets up a goal nicely.

/ Finally there’s the dribbling, it wasn’t anything amazing and probably requires the engine to really give it some more juice but he still did a good job at controlling the ball to make those quick clearances in defence.

Tchouameni - Cop or Flop?

This one is a little tough for me because unless this is an absolutely unreal card that will remain in your squad until the end of the game, I cannot justify a 1.7 million coin spend. This card played really well in game but I just think the only thing letting this item down is the cost of the SBC. If it was maybe a million coins I would probably argue the value and say this is worthwhile doing. But for me, this card just doesn’t perform like a 1.7 million coin card should and there are so many options (including the free evolution options) that will do just as good a job and not require you to take out a mortgage to complete.

Unless you are a Real Madrid fan I would suggest staying away from this one. Even then, you can currently put the base card into the “Weak Foot Peak” Evolution and whilst it isn’t as good as this SBC, it’s still pretty close for a small fraction of the cost to complete this SBC.
