Although there are no real stand-out players there are a lot of high-rated players likely coming in TOTW 14, partly thanks to the latest rating revamp. Headlining we have Martinez, a TIF Hofmann and a very strong featured card in Szoboszlai.
Kasper Schmeichel - GK - 83 > 87 OVR
Seven saves and clean sheet / Nice 1 - Lille 0 / 8 L’equipe Rating
It's very rare that two goalkeepers from the same division end up making TOTW but with two keepers receiving an 8/10 from L’equipe this weekend it's a possibility that we see it. Schmeichel didn’t feature in L’equipe’s TOTW but don’t take anything away from his performance with the Danish stopper keeping his side in the game on multiple occasions.
Vanderson - LB - 76 > 87 OVR – Featured TOTW
MOTM / Marseille 1 - Monaco 1 / 8 L’equipe Rating
A tight encounter between both Monaco and Marseille ended in a score draw. Despite not offering anything attacking one player which stood out was Vanderson. Making several interceptions and tackles to be named MOTM. Defenders were not easy this week so the high match rating could be enough.
German Pezzella - CB - 77 > 83 OVR
Clean sheet / Getafe 0 - Real Betis 1 / 7.9 Whoscored Rating
It seems to be the trend at the moment but yet again La Liga offered very little in terms of IF options with most matches being low-scoring affairs. The defensive side of the game is likely to get acknowledged somewhere and for me that punt is Pezzella.
Grimaldo - LB - 82 > 85 OVR
Goal and clean sheet / Pacos 0 - Benfica 2 / 7.9 Whoscored Rating
I struggled to find the match rating for this match so I could be wrong but with a goal and a clean sheet Grimaldo on paper looks like a strong candidate. The Spaniard usually picks up a few special cards throughout FIFA and until now is yet to do so in this game.
Jonas Hofmann - RM - 81 > 88 OVR
Two goals, one assist / Hoffenheim 1 - Gladbach 4 / Check Kicker Rating
Hofmann is now in line for his third IF of the season after yet another superb display down the right-hand side. The German scored twice and assisted another as Gladbach dispatched Hoffenheim with ease away from home.
Luis Alberto - CM - 83 > 86 OVR
Goal and assist / Lazio 4 - AC Milan 0 / 8 Gazzetta Rating
Outside of Napoli, who currently look unstoppable, the top of the Serie A is tight. Both Lazio and AC are near the summit but the result was anything but close when the pair met this week. Lazio ran away with it and both Alberto and Zaccagni stood out but the IF seems likely to go to the former here.
Dani Olmo - CAM - 82 > 85 OVR
Goal and two assists / Leipzig 6 - Schalke 1 / 1 Kicker Rating
Bundesliga had two sets of fixtures this week and while the weekend games will likely take preference the top players from midweek still stand a strong chance. Olmo is among the top options after receiving the maxim Kicker rating for his three-goal contributions.
Domenico Berardi - RM - 84 > 87 OVR
One goal, three assists / AC Milan 2 - Sassuolo 5 / 8 Gazzetta Rating
It was a long week for AC Milan who received not one but two heavy losses. The second came from Sassuolo with their main man Berardi being the player to cause AC problems. It is not very often a side conceded two IFs in one week
Dominik Szoboszlai - CAM - 79 > 87 OVR
Two goals / Leipzig 2 - Stuttgart 1 / 2 Kicker Rating
Another Leipzig player now but from a different match. Szoboszlai scored both his side's goals in a narrow 2-1 win and becomes the obvious candidate for a featured spot by doing so.
Niclas Fullkrug - ST - 75 > 85 OVR
Two goals / Bremen 2 - Wolfsburg 1 / 1.5 Kicker Rating
Fullkrug has had more POTM cards than IF’s so far this FIFA, showing just how good he has been this season. That is about to change though after another two goals from the German striker spearheaded Werder Bremen to a 2-1 win.
Lautaro Martinez - ST - 86 > 88 OVR
Two goals / Cremonese 1 - Inter Milan 2 / 7.5 Gazzetta Rating
An early goal for Cremonese saw Inter fall behind but an upset was not on the cards with Martinez excelling to help Inter come from behind to take all three points. Gazzetta awarded Martinez MOTM with a decent match rating which should then result in his SIF.
For the substitutes, we have the following players:
Benjamin Lecomte - GK - 77 > 83 OVR
Pen save and four saves / Auxerre 0 - Montpellier 2 / 8 L;equipe Rating
An easy keeper choice here with Lecomte receiving an 8 from L’equipe for his performance making several key saves and a last-minute penalty stop. Mavididi scored both goals and is also in with a shout but the goalkeeper seems the more likely of the two.
Phillip Lienhart - CB - 78 > 83 OVR
One goal / Freiburg 3 - Augsburg 1 / 1.5 Kicker Rating
Freiburg have developed into a dangerous side in the Bundesliga, consistently performing well. It was another convincing win this weekend against Augsburg. Lienhart was named MOTM after a strong defensive performance before then scoring the third late in the match.
Mattias Svanberg - CM - 76 > 83 OVR
One goal, two assists / Hertha 0 - Wolfsberg 5 / 1.5 Kicker Rating
It was another convincing win for Wolfsburg, scoring five without reply. Svanberg was at the heart of the performance, directly contributing to three of those five goals.
Franck Honorat - LM - 77 > 83 OVR
One goal, two assists / Brest 4 - Angers 0 / 8 L’equipe Rating
Brest had several players make L’equipe’s TOTW after their convincing win over Angers but Honorat is the only real IF option. Claiming the joint highest rating of the week for his three-goal contributions.
Jean-Pierre Nsame - ST - 75 > 83 OVR
Hat trick / Young Boys 5 - Winterhur 1 / 9.1 Sofascore Rating
Nsame used to be a regular in TOTW with the Cameroon striker receiving three IF’s in both 20 and 21. It has been a while since his last IF but after scoring three this weekend he looks to be back in the mix once again.
Enner Valencia - ST - 75 > 85 OVR
Four goals / Fenerbahce 5 - Kasimpasa 1 / 10 Sofascore Rating
Valencia shocked many with his performances at the World Cup and he has taken that form back to Fenerbahce where he looks full of confidence. His four this weekend helped them to a routine win and he walks into this side by doing so.
Youssef En-Nesri - ST - 80 > 84 OVR
Two goals / Sevilla 3 - Elche 0 / 8.4 Whoscored Rating
Normally it would have been Acuna who was nailed on for this week with a goal and assist from LB but with the defender featuring in TOTW 11, just two weeks ago, it is unlikely that EA will opt for him again. Instead, we look at En-Nesri who is also a strong candidate having scored twice.
