FIFA 23 FUTTIES Vinicius Jr. Player Review - COP or FLOP?

The end to the Futties Promo is near, whilst I think it’s safe to say Futties hasn’t been as incredible as it has previously been. I feel like it’s still been one of the better promos throughout this year! With that we of course move onto the Pre-Season Promo that leads us swiftly onto EAFC 24 and all of the excitement that comes with the new installment of the game.

Today however we hold onto the Futties Hype with the final Seasonal Reward and that is none other than a 98 Rated Premium Futties Vinicius Jr. What a card.

You can check out the card here!

For those asking “How can you have enough XP”. Well if you are an EA play member you of course have been granted an XP boost at the start of the season. This means as of today it is possible to get at least Level 40 in the Season Progress as this morning EA released the next wave of Weekly Objectives, of which are simply unlocked by scoring goals and playing in any mode until the necessary unlocks are complete. Likewise, we have also been given an extra set of “Futties” objectives which comfortably takes us over to the Level 41 threshold to enable us to start working on the “Bonus Objectives”

My favorite thing about Vinicius? He’s Premium. Which means that this Endgame Card remains in your team no matter what and slots into your team, no matter what.

With this being an “Endgame” card I of course had to slot him straight into my main team which features the likes of many Icon Cover Stars as well as some of the best Premium Futties cards we have had throughout this promo. Vini was putting in a shift on the wing just disappearing with the ball before the opposition could realize what had happened and of course, putting the ball into the likes of Rooney and Ronaldinho… Goals were a certainty.

For me, the choice in Chemstyle could arguably be a few. I wanted to focus on strength and shooting as they for me felt like the main stats that needed boosting. So I opted for the Sniper on this one but alternatively, you could also go with Marksman. Or you could put more into passing and shooting by using maestro. I think it’s a personal preference here depending on your playstyle.

The main thing to point out here is that in order to unlock this card you have to make a choice in your rewards. Either this Vinicius Jr. card or an Icon PP. For me I think the choice is pretty clear here but more on that later.

How did he perform in-game?

+ Pace was of course as you would expect on this card. I have stated in previous articles that sometimes cards of high pace can feel a bit misleading but Vinicius does not fall into that category. He is rapid!
+ Dribbling on this card was absolutely sublime. The ball stuck to his feet no matter what. There were a few occasions where he was being tackled but still seemed to walk right through whilst holding possession as if it was nothing.
+ Shooting, specifically the Finesse shot, was near perfect. Having 5*/5* topped it off because he easily scored with both feet no matter what position he was in. As you would expect of course.
+ Positioning was also pretty decent on this card, he was always ready in the open to receive a quick through ball.
/ Strength was something earlier that I put my focus on to boost as I expected this to be his downfall, as is with a majority of wingers. But it certainly was not awful at all. He held his own on occasion but this could have been better.
/ Passing was another stat for me that was a little inconsistent. Don’t get me wrong it was good but not what you’d expect on a 98-rated card. Again, could have been better.

Vinicius Jr - Cop or Flop?

I mentioned earlier about the choice you have to make when you eventually unlock this card. For me, this is the easiest choice we have had all season. You either go with a 98-rated card that Guarantees to get into your starting 11…

Or you go with a player pick that includes a 90+ rated FUT Birthday/ Trophy Titan/ TOTY/ Shapeshifter Icon. I think even getting the best R9 here still doesn’t come close. Ronaldinho has a better SBC available so his TOTY is redundant (Not to mention unlikely to pop) which then only leaves Shapeshifters Pele and Henry. So odds are not in anyone's favour here to get a better card which is why for me, selecting Vini is the only option. That’s without considering how he plays in-game, which is incredible.

Verdict = COP
