FC 24 88 UT Birthday Evan Ferguson Player Review - Cop or Flop

Another set of twin SBC’s have arrived in Ultimate Team and this time it’s Evan Ferguson and you can kind of feel this promo is coming to an end as in typical fashion the content quality is dropping, It’s fair to say this SBC hasn’t gone down well with the community and we’ll discuss reasons why later.

We have the choice of whether we want a 5-star weak foot Ferguson or one with 5-star skills and for me the weak foot has more value, so that’s the one I went with.

You can check out the card here!

Ferguson has received a large upgrade from his non-rare silver item with large boosts for his Pace (+19), Passing (+22) and Physical (+20). On top of this he’s been given some interesting playstyles and that itself will spark further conversation when we discuss in game performance.

I decided to go with Ferguson as a lone striker given his Physicals and size. I wanted him to be the focal point of the team, be an option for hold up play and a target man for crosses. Chemstyle wise I actually tried two, Engine and Marksman and to be honest didn’t really notice a difference between the two.

Here are the following segments to unlock the Ultimate Birthday Evan Ferguson SBC:

Yup, Just one SBC… which comes in around 35-40k, which isn’t too bad in the grand scheme of things but at this stage is this kind of item worth even having?

How did he perform in-game?

+Physicals, in game he was solid in this department, showing off really good strength to hold off defenders and even using it to win the ball back at times.

+Shooting, In Front of goal I don’t have too many complaints he’s a solid finisher, not an elite one but still a pretty good one.

/ Passing, sadly this area is pretty much ‘what you see is what you get’, the short passing is good but the long passing/through balls are inconsistent at best.

-Playstyles, This may seem harsh as I guess it’s an EA selection issue but I couldn’t help but feel that with the Aerial+ that this item could have been a really solid attacking option especially for those who have a cross heavy playstyle.

Ferguson - Cop or Flop?

We’ve gone from my last review (Reece James) being one of the best items in his position to this and incredible average item for this stage of the game, Unless you’re just starting out with Ultimate Team you’ll likely have many better attacking options already in your club.

Unless you’re a Brighton fan or just like Evan Ferguson this SBC can be ignored, there are so many better Premier League ST options and with Team of the Season being just around the corner we’ll get even more ST options.

He’s ‘cheap’ so we can’t complain too much but with the stage we’re at in the game, this card is just not it and wouldn’t look out of place being an Objective Reward

Verdict - Flop
