A real beast. He is unbeatable in the air due to his strength, height and jumping ability. On the floor he packs a really powerful finish.
Also, unlike other aerially-gifted strikers, such as Giroud or Gignac, he is reasonably fast. I pair him with Aubameyang and they both dovetail perfectly to enable me to reach Gold on Weekend League easily, despite me not being a very good player. He is the best partner for Aubameyang not just because of his physical presence, but also his passing stats. They enable him to do quick 1-2s and play perfect through balls for Aubameyang to race onto.
Bought him for 1.3m but if I were to estimate his worth, I would say he's worth at least 1.5m. Tried Lukaku, IF Lukaku, and he is so much better than all the versions of Lukaku. I would say he takes the best of Lukaku and Kane, and packs it into one potent Dutch package.
I cannot recommend him enough.
1) Very Strong, not easy to shrug off
2) Good passing, which is rare for a player who is tall and strong in the air
3) Height + jumping and heading stats makes him a real beast in the air. Has the Power Header trait too
4) High/Low workrates means he's always available for a pass in the final third and won't waste stamina tracking back
1) With Hawk chemistry style he is quick enough, but he isn't Aubameyang-quick
After reading a lot of comments under his page and some reviews this player didn't particularly impressed me. Before Kluivert I was playing with IF Gabriel Jesus (I will always love you bruh) but since the finesse shot meta is coming to an end I decided to try a more physical striker to avoid the "finesse spamming" and play a better game.
Needless to say, I've never used a player as complete as Kluivert. He made me fall in love in a couple of seconds.
I played the first few games using the chemistry style ENGINE for the balance boost but I changed the chemistry style in HUNTER after a short time. IMHO he needs a bit of pace boost to outplay faster defenders as Varane or VVD.
As you can see from the stats Kluivert is a clinical player. After 28 match he scored 36 goals and 15 assist. And I'm just an average Elite 3 - Gold 1 player.
I've uploaded a short vid on YT with some highlights from the first 10 games played with him, check it out!
Never lost any header;
Fast enough to overcome most of the defenders (HUNTER FTW);
Great passing skills, for a striker is impressive;
Clinical even with the weak foot, feels like 5* WF;
I've been buying, selling, and testing a number of different icon ST options (93 Van Basten, 91 Lineker, 91 Trezeguet, 91 Shevchenko, etc.) with a budget of 1.25 Million coins.
As someone who really appreciates a fast & strong striker, I expected a lot from the prime Kluivert. While he definitely felt fast enough and extremely strong in the game, he also felt oddly sluggish. To elaborate a bit more on this, he can run straight pretty fast without the ball, but with the ball - especially when involving some lateral movements, his movements seemed a bit awkward and sluggish. His shooting was obviously better than all of the non-icon strikers that I've used so far, but in comparison to other icon STs, it did not stand out due to a small degree of inconsistency. I had several occasions where I missed relatively easy low-driven shots that I would have scored with other icon ST options. And because of his sluggish movements, it was harder to get him to shoot as well. I definitely realize that a lot of different factors could have contributed to this (my own skills, playing tendencies, formation, etc.) and want people to read this review with a grain of salt. Having said that, I personally would NOT recommend spending 1.25-1.3 million coins in buying 91 Kluivert as there are many alternative options with much better cost-effectiveness.
Strength: I don't remember a CB I wasn't able to out-muscle or run away from with the prime Kluivert.
Heading: Many of my goals with him were from some great headers. His heading was definitely great.
Pace: Despite feeling sluggish at times, for a 6'2" ST, he felt fast enough in the game.
Shooting: Except a few occasions when he surprisingly missed low-driven shots, his shooting was otherwise great.
Passing: His passing #s are very good for a striker, and this showed in the game. Although he only recorded two assists in 15 games, this number does not reflect how reliable and good he was at passing.
Movement: As stated above, he felt noticeably sluggish. This unfortunately downplays his otherwise great pace too.
Stamina: Despite his H/L workrate, I often felt tempted to substitute him out past 75th minutes. In many games, he somewhat disappeared after 75th minutes.
Low-driven shots: While I understand low-driven shots are not as effect as it used to be, he displayed a bit of inconsistency in this area that I did not experience with other icon STs.
Let be honest. He is only in squad because he didn't sell, BUT!
At first i didn't like him, he is not the fastest, not got the best shooting stats and if you want a strong heading striker go with EL Giroud.
Here is the BUT, he didn't sell on the transfer Marked and oh boy i'm glad he didn't. I changed his Chem and what a striker he turned out to be. He is fast enough and with his strength he can run site by site with defender, fight him off, then bang it into goal and sometimes he just runs right by them. His dribling feels weird, due to his size and long legs but it works. In close spaces he keeps the ball close to his feet which makes it difficult to fight him of the ball. His heading is top dollar, he wins it every time.
I've used: Shevchenko 91, Lineker 89/91, Klose 91, Zola 90, Nistelrooy 92 and Van Basten 89/91 and Kluivert is the best by far. Well he has scored the most and most assist by a Attacker.
Positioning
Shooting, just bang it and the keeper has no change.
Passing in the box
Heading
Strengh
Pace at the right time
He is no Messi but he'll do the job when it comes to dribbling
I upgraded my ST from Lukaku to the prime Kluivert, and ended up being massively disappointed. He didn't feel as strong and physically dominant as Lukaku, and other aspects of this prime icon weren't that much better than Lukaku. After trying him for 61 games, this card did not seem worth 1M and sold him for a nice profit of 200k, which allowed me to get the prime Klose instead.
This may sound harsh, but I am struggling to think of noticeable pros of this card. Yes, this is definitely a good card with solid well-rounded stats, but in the context of having to pay over 1 million coins, there is only a few pros worth mentioning.
Passing: for a ST, this card does have nice passing stats, and I surely noticed it over 61 games. He won't make passing mistakes that will make you shout "What are you doing?!?!"
Strength: even though he didn't feel as strong and physically dominant as Lukaku, he can surely outstrength most CBs at this stage of Fifa 19. BUT, with IFs & special cards continuously coming out, I doubt that his strength will be as noticeable as it is now down the road. But for now, he's strong enough for anyone who likes his striker to hold up the ball in the upper 1/3.
Heading: if you have good wingers and prefer to play with a central striker & two wingers, he can be quite effective. The majority of my goals with him resulted from his headers. This was obviously more noticeable when my opponents used CBs with relatively high pace + medium strength, and I struggled to score headers with him when facing pretty strong CBs.
Value for money: most icons obviously don't carry good value for $$$, but probably not as much as this one. I performed just as well, if not better, during WLs with Lukaku.
Stamina: this was a big let-down for me, he got tired rather quickly every game and had to sub him out unless I am dominating my opponents.
Dribbling: his dribbling did not live up to his #s. Despite 88 ball control + 82 dribbling + 4 star skills, I rarely tried to dribble with him due to his clunkiness and tendency to allow defenders close up on him to tackle.
Balance: to be fair, he only fell down once in a while. But it takes longer for him to get up to claim the ball or shoot than other STs I've used, and I sometimes had to just watch my opponents take the ball away from him when it's just sitting right next to him.
